I know this is probably football board material, but was at a wedding in Lawrence Saturday and they had a sign on the side of their stadium that said the Stadium Club, or whatever they are calling it is still set for completion by this fall.  Still looks like a crummy high school stadium though and no dirt has been moved or anything.  Must be banking on Extreme Home Makeover Stadium edition to come knocking I guess.   :dunno:

"Move that bus!"

K-State hasn't even started on the rec expansion, and we voted on that like 28 years ago.

K-State hasn't even started on the rec expansion, and we voted on that like 28 years ago.

Iowa State is building a new rec center on the west side next to the current west side rec facilities (State Gym/ Beyer Hall for those familiar with ISU Campus) including a new pool (with slides), exercise equipment, and general use gymnasiums, to compliment the facilities in State Gym and Beyer Hall on the West side, and the Lied Recreation Building on the East side which has numerous racquetball courts, ginormous "general use area," weight facilities, and indoor track used for Iowa State track teams/meets.

Here is the presentation of blueprints: http://www.public.iastate.edu/~saff/recreation/2009-04-07_Town%20Hall%20Presentation.pdf and http://www.public.iastate.edu/~saff/recreation/2008-10-08%20Update%20for%20GSB.pdf

That ISU facility looks pretty rad (I'm bringing "rad" back).  Would be nice if they could find room in the budget for a ceiling in the women's office.  Probably could have sacrificed some of the chairs in the briefing room- the Mayor only has like 8 players anyway.

Thanks for the pics, havs.

Its a pond and landscaping all around it has made it look pretty good. That was literally 1 day after construction workers handed the keys over to the ISU AD and said "move that bus."

Havs, thx for the pics. Considering the odds of KSU having a 'state of the art' or even a 'never gonna, don't wanna' practice facility within the next decade are slim to none, it's quite an accomp. the landscaping is magnificent and will be envied nationwide. Can't wait to see Hoiberg and the juggernaut product he will present on the court.

Looks like something you would see off of I-70 between Knob Nobster and Columbia.

Good news is if the basketball thing doesn't work out you could can easily convert it to an Orslen's Farm Supply and not miss a beat.

'Grats Havs.

The plan in 10-20 years is actually to build a newer, better practice facility adjacent to Hilton Coliseum and sell the current practice facility since it is in a rapidly growing commercial part of town. However, the practice facility seems to be in a good location for today's needs since most basketball players live out in West Ames anyway and only head into campus when they have a class or game. However, I don't think it'll become a new Orslen's Farm Supply (Creative name if you made it up, never heard of it) since we got a new Theissen's on the Southeast side of town near Highway 30 and I-35. Check it out at http://www.theisens.com. I'm in farm heaven when I go in there, so your made up store, or store that doesn't even come close to being as good as Thiessens, is as irrelevant as your wheat field with a 'Coming Soon, New Basketball Practice Facility.'

Thanks for the breakdown, 'Havs.

Good to have that contingency plan in place when/if the Clones drop the men's basketball program in a few years and you'll need to retrofit the basketball training center into a farm implement and supply store on the rapidly expanding west side of Ames.

Ohhhhh, they have one of those in Boone. They would oversaturate the market if they turned the Bball practice facility into one.
