Title: The Rice Thread(cooking subthread)
Post by: The Big Train on April 18, 2018, 08:01:49 PM
Hey guys it’s TBT here. I’m a big fan of rice and rice dishes. We have a general purpose cooking thread but rice can be cooked and prepared in so many ways I thought it deserved its own thread. I prepared Red Beans and Rice tonight(one of my favs) and I was curious what you guys have, are, and will be preparing and how you made it.  :lick:

Love rice (I have a 20# bag in my pantry).  I generally cook up a nice mess of mexi rice,  a pilaf or just your typical chinese restaurant takeout rice.  I've started using the pressure cooker for rice and it works great (except pilaf which I finish in the oven.

That cooking method goes against the grain.

I'm a big fan of my Zojirushi rice cooker.  When I lived in the mountains, it was difficult to cook proper rice at altitude.  Zojirushi still killed it and it plays a 30-40 second song when finished.

I enjoy making really spicy food (cajun or indian usually) and serving with a side of rice so people can use it to temper the spice level.
