Title: 38 Points
Post by: joaks01 on February 03, 2018, 05:55:50 PM
How much longer do we have to endure this? I can’t live in basketball purgatory much longer. Does Gene make the move or are we stuck with dipshit for good?

Same as a loss by one point.  Only counts as a single L. Last time I looked this was a team receiving votes and  with a non losing conference record.

Even more amazing with two nba players the floor averaging over 35 minutes a game.

"WVU's 38-point win over Kansas State was its largest margin of victory in a conference game since beating Furman, 105-67, on Dec. 7, 1957 in the Southern Conference."

If this is game 2 of a 4 game losing streak then it's a bad loss as the team started it's downward spiral.

If by next Saturday today was a 2nd loss in 8 game stretch...well things won't look so gloomy.

This team responded when Kam got hurt at 1-2 in conference.  Not sure how they respond now.  But I know winning at Texas can happen as easily as a loss in Austin.

Did WVU play zone against us?  Are we worn out due to a pissing poor bench not available to use?  Does Oscar have brain worms?  Did someone screw up Diarra's mind?

Honestly I don't care. I like our players. What the hell is going on.

If history’s any indication, the downward spiral might be coming. I’m with a lot of the posters on this board that this team is actually extremely likeable but destined for mediocrity under oscar.

No, oscar isn’t solely responsible for every loss. But the yearly spiral/plateau is absolutely on him.

Not exactly a new take around here, but let’s kick him to the curb and start the new coach off with a solid roster.

Magin of victory/loss is a stupid thing to worry about....unless you wore colored socks to gym class and spent your athletic years staring at the backside of a locker door.

When Stokes went down, I'm guessing most of the Ksu predicters probably thought 6-12 or 7-11. I wasn't really an optimist for 9-9 myself.

This is Weber's 2nd best team.  We might fade and be 9-9 or 8-10.  Or this team may finish 10-8, 5th in league (projected 8th)

If we don't make NCAA, then I want him gone. Injuries or not, no NCAA no job

Agreed, I set the bar at an NCAA tourney win (not play-in win).

McGurl getting his most minutes of the season seemed like an odd choice to me.

His second best team in a six year span is a 9-9 bubble team. Damn that michigancat was right again.

kenpom thinks the idea that 2017-2018 is weber's 2nd best team is pretty lollable.  but the hypercritics may not be any much happier with an 8-10 bubble team.

Yeah, in kenpom's eyes last year's bubble team was 3 spots worse than oscar's league title team. (2017 - #30, 2013 - #27)

What was '13 ranked in kenpom before the lasalle disaster

it looks like 27th.  for some reason the final rankings don't include kstate's last game.  they fell to 32nd after lasalle, making 2016-2017 weber's best kstate team.  a bit of crow for the johnson haters like myself.

that can't be right.  32nd must have been what they entered the lasalle game as.  and they must have climbed back up to 27th after the game, presumably because some higher rated teams tanked.

This is correct. We beat Florida and they ended up in the sweet 16. We were probably also helped by Baylor's NIT championship run since we swept them. :D
