Title: K-State's audition for the SEC?
Post by: Dugout DickStone on September 11, 2017, 01:50:44 PM
So I was crushing some Mac 18yo this weekend with a bro who is very plugged into the SEC circles.  He got a little pak'd and admitted that the SEC is getting sick and tired of Vanderbilt being so insanely shitty at football.  We have known that the SEC covets KSU's ability to pound other school's faces in at the sport of football.  He admitted that many an SEC school Prez/Chanc watched us plant our foot in Texas A&M's bad person and wear them for like boot while simultaneously kicking their other asses on national tv.  Bottomline is if we punish Vandy like we can, we might have to consider if we want to accept an invite to take Vanderbilt's place and play in their smelly inbred conference.

I would be against it but...being in the same conf as ku is getting embarrassing.

Thanks, but no thanks although I do expect an invite if the SEC decides to expand.

It'll be nice to have that open invite confirmed, but it should only be used as additional leverage while renegotiating w/ big 12 or while working something out with big 10 or pac.

a polite "thanks but no thanks" should suffice, but if the SEC brass is persistent, i would work in a "special kind of stupid" or other highly regarded hillbilly insult to make sure they get the message that they are complete trash and we don't want in

Why would we want to be in that garbage conference?

We'd win it every year

SEC = gross

No thanks. Would rather win a close game than have a blowout and people start bringing up our program and associating it with that conference.

As far as I can tell, SEC only invites schools aligned with their... I'll just say "pro confederacy" ideals. I think we're safe from having to talk to these guys.

I was giving honest consideration to an SEC invite, but then knowing our image would take a big hit like Missouri's has was the deal-breaker.  I just don't think it's worth it for a few extra bucks.  We are already  :kstategrad:

Leverage this into our own Longcat Network.

I'm always for being polite but maybe we tell them why we aren't interested in the hopes that they want to improve.  I don't want them to take it poorly though.  For starters, I've been to a game at Missouri and have researched my upcoming trip to Nashville.  Their facilities in that conference are absolute garbage.

I have not been to the Vanderbilt stadium so I will reserve my judgment until after I have been.  I canco that Mizzou's stadium is pure trash

I would rather remain in a conference that takes football seriously.

I mean did you see the images of the 85 people at the Vandy home opener.

yuck

I have heard about these monster SEC stadiums and intend to confirm in person on Saturday

SEC schools have to allocate half of their stadium to visiting fans, and I really don't see those other schools traveling well enough to fill our stadium. It would be depressing to play in front of an empty house all the time.

imagine Vanderbilt's athletic department, combing through the financials, if only there was a way to get more revenue through ticket sales, but when you have to allocate 50% of the seating to opposing fans, your hands are tied at that point.

those idiots charged  :kstategrad: cat fans $30/ticket, they might be poorer than ku

It is beneath our dignity and honor to consort with such hooligans and scoundrels. Of course we would decline if offered!

Further, we should preempt any offer with a written refusal to accept any proposal!

Honestly, only if the SEC offered k-state some sort of reverse partial payout-type arrangement.  Where, like, K-State gets payed a dozen Mil more per year than all the other schools, ramping down as the positive influence of Kansas State athletics rubs off on the other conference members over the years.   Even then, i suppose that's a pretty big gamble.

The problem w/the SEC offering is no matter how vehemently we reject it, our name will always pop up in internet searches associating us w/them.  The SEC would basically be Vaughn Scribner'n us.

I'm so tired of being feted by opposing fans every damn time I travel for a cats game. No, I don't want your disgusting [insert awful regional spirit].

Some of you have to admit that the look on the face of mizzou and Texas A&M fans would be priceless.  They left the conference to avoid our unholy ass beatings we laid on them and play easier competition....

I take your point, but at what cost?

Looking at the disgusting faces of Mizzou/Aggies is too great a burden to bear even for a bit of schadenfreude.

Good point. I'd like to continue to enjoy scoring multiple touchdowns on TCU every year.
