I am visiting my folks in Marana AZ (a nice little retirement community) and we decided to hit up church this morning. I was sporting a NIke shirt with a Powercat on the chest. Right before services started the guy in front of my pointed to my shirt at said, "Are you a coach or faculty?" I responded, "Nope, just a proud alum". He looked a hair puzzled and even more surprised when I said, "the most fun 5 1/2 years of my life". Him: 5 1/2 years? Me? Yah, too many nights at the bars and cut a few too many classes. Him: Oh.. Your old football coach is a member here I will introduce you after service. Me: looking forward to it. Then service starts and for the next hour I am thinking of meeting Stan Parrish. I am wondering is he bitter about his tenure with K-State and what is appropriate to ask? What is his take on Coach Snyder?
Service ends and I must admit I am a little excited to meet Coach Parrish. I quickly run my daughter to the bathroom and look for the guy so I can get my introduction. When I find him again as he is headed to the parking lot and he says, 'sorry Coach was not here today'. A little disappointed we head out as well.
On my drive back to my folks place I see this, and decide maybe we were not on the same page.

Dude can't even be bothered to change out of his collegiate-sports-team-branded shirt and what I presume are jeans and tennies when he enters God's house... :blindfold:
-
that's funny. my hs baseball team (buena fighting colts) played a double header on the field behind that sign. think we stomped their dicks (we were pretty salty. had future major leaguer donnie veal on the team.) anyway, i remember thinking it was weird they had copycatted the powercat, tho it's a common practice these days
-
Little known fact: LHC LHC Bill Snyder leases the powercat out to high schools for $1 a year :th_twocents:

Seems like spracs is pretty butthurt that no high schools want to shell out the $1/year to lease the jayhawk logo. I'm sorry friend. :frown:

I enjoyed this story. Thank you for sharing. And, some people soak in the college life a little longer than others. No shame, 95.

It's a license, not a lease. JFC.
-
The license is leased :th_twocents:

It would have been awesome if the former football coach was there.

good story

A quick Google search shows 31 high schools use the Powercat (would be 32 but two schools in TX were fighting over it and one finally relinquished). As for the Jayhawk, you have 3 high schools (It was four but one closed their doors...surely just a coincidence), and two community colleges.
-
I enjoyed that story very much.
-
Also, there is another high school in Arizona that uses the powercat!

You have a generic mascot, a logo that is simple and easy to screen-print on tshirts, and you're willing to give away license to it. The fact that your interlocutor associates it more with a high school than a university makes my point for me.

I don't know if Urbandale Iowa came up on your Jayhawk search but they don't use it anymore.

It was not one of the schools listed, but then again I am not sure the source is credible...

In the current political climate why would any school willingly associate themselves with a name of a terrorist organization?

I enjoy seeing the butthurt side of spracs

I feel like if John Currie were the AD of a school in western KS this would be his go to logo.
-
To be fair, if any of those schools sell merchandise with the logo on it, I'm pretty sure they still have to pay the 8% of the wholesale price per piece sold. The schools just get the $1 deal for all uniforms, logo on courts, stadiums, etc.

I don't doubt what you said, but I'm pretty sure if the school's name is on the item with the logo, then they don't need to pay any additional fees.

How much does regional powerhouse Kanagawa University have to fork over for this?

With all due respect meow, but shut your got damn mouth on this one.
That woman is two Karla's. Karla meets the girls at the local PV public courts for a brisk game of doubles whenever the weather allows, then they go to the Blue Moose for an "iced tea".
Now if you said Mary McDowell who lives two doors down, then you might have something. Mary doesn't get far from the queso and pot stickers at the holiday gatherings.
