I want to be purply, naively optimistic, able to build unrealistic expectations on flimsy hopes. Help.me find hope to return to happy blissful nirvana, and.even purchase a ticket to Bramledge.
-
oscar now has one round of 64 win in the last 11 seasons with 6 NCAA appearances.
-
Lose our best two players and kam is our point. Mediocre talent coming in.
There is your answer

Yeah, this was probably our ceiling season for the next 2-3 years at least. We may battle for an NIT 4 seed or something, but in a couple maybe oscar will get us back into a play in again or possibly even a 9 or 10 seed.

Wade is better than DJamer
-
He needs to learn to pass when the double team hits under the basket. He had some cringe worthy plays yesterday.
-
Wade is better than DJamer
I agree with that.
-
He needs to learn to pass when the double team hits under the basket. He had some cringe worthy plays yesterday.
He needed to go up strong and draw the foul instead of hesitating. It only happened twice.

Twice. Man, it seemed like more than that.
-
Yeah. I think Wade would benefit quite a bit from kicking it back out when he doesn't have a play and reposting. Our guards would need to know to throw it back in though.
-
Wade's much better facing the basket and driving. He really shouldn't be trying to score with his back to the basket, and he hasn't much in his career
-
Wade is better than DJamer
when he wants to be
-
We'll be fine Reno. Go cats!
-
Here are the final per 100 stats with returners and seniors broken out. Even with decent improvement from returners, I'm not sure our incoming recruits plus Diarra and Love are enough to make up for losses to create a better team than what we had this year.

I don't know why so many people on this board are either delusional about oscar getting fired tomorrow or delusional about him being safe for the next 5 years.
Here's your rosy prediction: we likely miss the tournament next year with oscar, and after that happens the Cats look for a new coach.
I swear, some people here are way whinier than oscar could ever be.

Its a message board with fans. I think that's part of the purpose.

Wade is better than DJamer
They're both awful
-
next year could be fun to watch. the two bigs are as skilled as you can imagine for this level. brown is great. sneed can shoot. stokes can shoot. they should put some easy points on the board.

Which makes me entitled to whine about the whining here.

With worse defense, like Wake Forest. I'm not sure it would make a dent in the Big 12 though, especially with oscar's micromanaging the offense.

-
should by all means be another fun/interesting year. i will definitely be tuning in again
-
I like the string of McGrudz Westicles Snead. Fun players to watch.
-
I think Maurice should be a fun guy to watch. I'm not sure he'll be very good but he can make some good plays and seems to bring a lot of energy.
-
I liked that Pat Riley was in attendance yesterday. Though probably not for Wes. :(
-
K-State's kenpom Big 12 stats going back to 2002. The trends for K-State defense are not good and I don't see next year getting better. I'm not sure any amount of offensive improvement can make up for it.

-
that's a great chart
-
lottery number is so fun to see like that
-
FYI, league rank is how the Big 12 ranked compared to the others in kenpom.
Also, I remember when Lowery came with oscar they mentioned his forte as defense and being in charge of that at K-State. His teams at SIU had a similar path as K-State; his first 4 years were Top 30 defenses in kenpom and then the bottom fell out. His final year at SIU his defense ranked 199 in kenpom.
-
We will suck bad, oscar will try and stave off his crap canning by firing a AC, he will still get canned.
-
Wade is better than DJamer
:bawl:
-
Claws is no Manny Dies but a lot of people think he is going to become some sort of superstar. He's soft like chicken nuggets.
-
what if we are 1.1+ on offense? how much bad defense does that cancel out? a lot, imo.
-
what do you guys think of "play hard (on offense)"?
-
they'll have to do a little better on the oboards to get to 1.1 and it wouldn't hurt if stokes turned it over less, but they're gonna efg with the best of them.
-
what do you guys think of "play hard (on offense)"?
cows, cows, cows.
-
imagine if we could trade stokes for wvu's carter. we'd be really good.
-
I'm trying to think of a b12 player I like more than him and drawing a blank
-

Yeah, I really don't see the team being that much worse next year. Maybe oscar will schedule a nonconfernece that isn't such a joke and actually end up back in the dance.
-

Monte Morris?
-
This may be taboo, but I've always like Frank Mason
-
not taboo, he's a stud
-
Yeah, I always enjoy chill players like him
-
I know he got shut down the last two trips but the kid from wsu was nails yesterday
-
Honestly, simply getting a new and exciting coach would change my outlook, cause I'm on the fence, but there are some parts. I like what I think Diarra can bring to the table, possibly taking the point, but we still won't really have a point guard. Still somewhat like the rotation we can use at the guard spots. Sneed will need to step up. Wade and Maurice could be alright, but I think I'd like to see a grad transfer big come in, maybe a JUCO.
If you get a decent JUCO big, you're looking at a rotation without a single senior. New coach that instills a different culture/attitude and makes strides, and 2018-19 could be fun? If it's oscar, I see this team maybe being on the bubble of the NIT. Another NCAA tourney/bubbliesh team the year after. Who knows, tho.

I can get behind all that, but reality is this is the oscar ceiling. Maybe in 2 years if this group of sophomores stays together, he'll get all the way to a 7 seed and win a round of 64 game. That's probably the best we can hope for.

You're absolutely right.
Expecting more pillowy-soft non-con schedules as along as oscar is here as well, after seeing how it played out this year.

they play different positions and have different roles. there's really no comparison. DJamer schools wade on the block.

Surely there is more to it than this. DJamer was always the one guy who played hard. Baffling.

Yes. And the person that said this is notorious for throwing players under the bus when given the opportunity. So even if he didn't mean it that way, it came out the way he probably meant it.

No, neither are. Like 'clams said they are completely different players with different skill sets. Wade will never be a reliable back to the basket type of big that you can dump three ball into when you need a basket. He's never done that before. Anyone who watched that freshman big from South Carolina last night should be able to see that you need a skill set to do that outside of being tall.

wade definitely is a gigantic pussy
-
I don't get the impression that Wade is very smart. At the very least not able to read and react. If his first move is thwarted, he panics. I hope that gets better in the off-season.
-
Wade would do awesome with a coach that empowered/trusted the players to make plays
-
Anyone think DJamer's foot was giving him problems?
-

If you do that you might not have an assist on 2/3 of your made shots. We certainly wouldn't want that.
-
This may be taboo, but I've always like Frank Mason
I personally try to steer clear of accused rapists.
-
This is news to me
-
About him. Not you.
-
I am trying to work myself into a frenzied sweaty lather of optimism regarding next year.
Maybe if Oscar is fighting for his job we will win as shown in the last of the season
Maybe they can coach up Wade, Sneed, Brown, Stokes, and Maurice.
Maybe healed Love and Diarrhea can be good.
Maybe incoming Shadd will be free moving and deadly like exlax.
Maybe McGuirl will be 3 point specialist.
Maybe Stockyard will be a big beef defender and rebounder
Maybe Oscar will snag a gem recruit yet.
Maybe .......... you fill in the blanks
