Disappointing, not surprising. I fed on my EMAW optimism this week, but this game is the reality of who we are and who we will be for as long as the current coach is retained.
-
Wes was meant to be a Pippen not a Jordan. He fought hard and I'll miss him.
-
They were the better team for a majority of the game. The stat that just sums up why they were better is 2pt FG%. At the under 4 timeout,it was 21-30 for them and 11-32 for Us. It finished 22-32 vs 14-36
-
1) the only real shot we had to get back into the game, we blew that opportunity late in the first half.
We were down 9, Ervin was trying gather a loose ball. Kam had a layup but was kinda clueless a shot block attempt was coming. Barely jumps, doesn't use his body and it's an easy block. 25 seconds later, DJamer contests a 5 footer from Evans, but he doesn't DR the ball. Evans tips in his own miss. And after we score, Sneed gets called for a questionable foul on his block shot at 18 feet. Been nice to have been down 5 not 11
2) We won TO and lost OR battle. No surprise. A push IMO
3) Cincy 2 starting bigs were 11-16 FG. Caupain had been 39.9 eFG his last 11 games. Our guards got owned and he did what he wanted. Wes having 3 fouls and not able to play much D also hurt
-
I know the chart above focuses on mainly advanced stats. The 63% vs 39% illustrates this point below
Cincy only scored 4 more pts us at the line (and shot a worse %). Kstate took 11 more FGA, and we still lost by double digits.
-
thank god DJamer is finally gone.

he was bad

All "advanced stats" aside, we lost this game because it was taken from us. They are better players and athletes than we were. That's not the fault of the players. It is the fault of those who recruited them.
-
Got out coached ya'll
-
Really good person tho rip DJamer

Well, they were also allowed and expected to make one-on-one plays. Mostly recruiting but there's definitely good player development there. Also it's really hard for egomaniac college coaches to trust their players to make decisions like Cronin did/does.
-
I like how Cronin's team played. He's a very good coach.

DJamer apparently told oscar he "didn't have it" before the game.

Will be interesting to see what this team looks like next year.

We are what we are and oscar is what he is.
I made a decision to enjoy the last few weeks of the season in spite of oscar and the Wake win was fun for me, but now the season is over and reality is here.
We are on a course for more seasons like the last four and at best an early exit from the NCAA tournament after a bubble season unless a change is made.
We don't need to wait to go back to Wooly standards to expect more, we are already well below the expectations this program should have.

We're right about where anyone should have reasonably expected oscar to be after five seasons. So you might say we're hitting the program's expectations we set for ourselves when we hired oscar.

Accurate.
The guys that set that standard for us are gone, so hopefully change will happen soon. I'm not confident it will happen this year.
