Hey gang,
I thought it would be fun if we went through and had a definitive ranking of everyone's favorite Cats plays.
1. Bishop to Darnell, Neb. 98
2. Ted Sims' WILDCAT TOUCHDOWN
3. Quincy's leap over some idiot Nebraskan in '00
4. Newman's PAT return
5. Scoop and score against the Unconfident Loser Landry Jones in '12
HM: Freeman's score to take the lead over OSU in '06.
Disagree? Feel free to post your OWN list down below! Don't just say random great plays ("Bishop to Peries!"). We all have plays we like. Let's determine our Top 5 FAVORITES -- Make a LIST.
What say YOU, Wildcat Nation?
-
This is a great thread idea.
-
I like all of those a lot, but I need to think on this one a little bit.
-
I was shocked that Sproles didn't have one up there.
I guess the one that sticks out to me the most is the screen TD in '03. Now that I think about it, a list comprised of the 5 scores against OU in '03 wouldn't be a horrible list.

The one at the 1:04 mark is one I always remember.

Ok I'm just going with my GUT here, so these could change as others are added.
1. The Sproles screen pass vs OU in the Big XII 'ship (breaks to daylight!)
2. Ell's 90 yard run vs NU in 2002
3. TWO PARTER*: Arthur Brown's pick, and then running down RGIII on the next possesion in 2011
4. Newman's PAT return vs USC
5. Sproles dragging some idiot Nebraskan across the goal line in 03 in Lincoln
*are 2 parters allowed Dlew?
-
DS43 dragging the nubb defender into the endzone is very memorable.
-
I might change my list and make it my #1

-
Best 2-parter: Bobby Walker b2b INT4TDs
-
*are 2 parters allowed Dlew?
Yes but there must be a substantially close nexus between the two.

well these 2 were the nexus of the universe on that fine autumn afternoon.

-
best part of that sequence was when Arthur zoomed back to his feet fast as lightning and ran back to the defensive huddle and on his way clipped the cord of one of our coaches' headphones.
-
Dlew that trick play that went absolutely haywire vs Miami should be on your HM list. I mean you started a thread about it

-
One of my favorites was when Nyle Wiren planted the QB for Iowa State.
-
Meshak Williams tackling both the RB and QB on the play action at TCU was amaze.
Judge ending the career of that receiver at OU when he smashed over the middle was amaze as well.
-
Okay idiots, what did I say? I don't know how I could have been any clearer.
This isn't a thread to all willy nilly post what plays you like. Either commit to a top 5 or get the hell out.
-

:buh-bye:
-
I really liked Hubert throwing down that tornado bird defender on the way to a TD.
-
Unruly: consider starting your own thread where we just list random positive k-state plays.
This is a thread for lists.
-
Dlew, the majority of your posts itt are not lists so maybe a little more practice and a little less preaching
-
1. Newman PAT return
2. Arthur Brown's INT against RG3
3. Ell's pass to Sproles to go up 21-7 in the Big 12 CCG
4. Goal line stand against Miami, 2011
5. Jordy's punt return TD at Texas (Prince Stomp)
HM: Klein to Harper, EKU 2011
-
1. Sproles dragging the nubs guy in the endzone, it was just such a  play.
2. James Terry slowdown stop and go against OU in the '03 champ game right after we tied it. And the two OU DBs just falling on the ground as he walks into the endzone. was really  and established that we could play with those dorks.
3. Hubert stiff arming/throwing down the ISU defender going into the endzone (plus they like using that in that goodyear commercial) :D
4. The goal line stand vs. Miami, especially the 4th down where they "got it" and even the Miami QB looking at the replay on the board starts shaking his head cause he knew Tre Walker got him down short of the goal line.
5. Vs. Texas '06, "FIGURS again!" TD pass from Freemaw and everyone goes nuts.
-
#1 all time favorite....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW4mYw2jfzI
-
# 2
It's a same Jordy was too slow for the NFL.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ek0ANQ8bRfo
-
lockett one hand
mario smith hit
nyle qb sack
sproles run vs ou
just too my head/heart is those 4
-
3. Mark Simoneau interception VS Texas
I can't find the video
-
1. Sproles dragging nub guy into endzone.
2. James Terry touchdown against OU
3. Huberet touchdown away to OU with the flex after scoring.
4. Arthur picking off RG3
5. Ferguson (I think) Busting his ass against A&M in '11 when he caught this dude from behind. This prevented a touchdown. We went on to hold them to a field goal. Which eventually helped with our comeback to force overtime(s).
-
The DE from KC (Edmonds?) that got cut by the Baylor line, got flipped and knocked the pass down with his feet.
If anyone has video I would love to see it again.
-
-Martin's 65 harder
-Darren dragging the Nebraska defender
-Darren's screen catch against OU
-Jeff Kelly's scoop and score to seal the Nebraska win in '98
-Mario Smith's cotton bowl hit
-
Real life top 5 for DLew's list: in no order.
T-New blocked Punt recovery for TD vs OU 2000.
Beasley to Quincy FTW.
Sproles Draggin Dicks.
Ell to JT up top vs OU 2003.
Kelly scoop and score.
A few that havent been mentioned (or maybe i missed em)
https://youtu.be/-u_mmbfbpME?t=5m26s
Loved it live. Loved Thorne's p-b-p call even more.
https://youtu.be/w26au2Xvn64?t=2h6m3s
Most excited I've probably ever been as a Cat fan.
https://youtu.be/qp1B6kxXgMQ
Collective groan from OU fans in stadium was great.
https://youtu.be/jfbZqq2U750?t=11m25s
Total stud.

I'll never forgive them.

Any top-5 list without a Sproles' play is without merit. My personal favorite was his 360 against USC that made three defenders run into each other.
HM: Freeman's score to take the lead over OSU in '06.

-
- Ell TD run at Texas w/ monster block from JT
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=6WdhPHRdPyk
- Newman punt block return vs OU
- Figurs again! (Plus the back to back passes from Jordy and Patton)
- Kelly scoop and score
- Klein TD run on first play of 3OT vs A&M
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syExzFsTAb0
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVDZU1k5YoI
This is my actual favorite
-
Other Top Plays:
-Sproles' spin move out of the backfield against OU in Dr. Pepper 'ship
-Lockett's PR for TD against OSU in '12
-ABJr chase-down TFL of RGIII in '11
-Meshak Williams double-tackle of QB and RB because he was unsure who had the ball
-Sproles' TD screen from Roberson in the '03 Dr. Pepper when he activated super-overdrive speed
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syExzFsTAb0
Good one
-
Has anyone said ABjr destroying that OU WR on that slant a couple years ago? Great play
-
http://www.complex.com/sports/2013/09/the-25-best-jukes-in-college-football-history-gifs/daren-sproles
2. Walker's back to back interceptions for TDs against Iowa St.
3. Newman's PAT return (momentum killer).
4. Bishop's across the body through to McDonald to go ahead TD against NU after bad snap.
5. Ell's double pump TD to Terry at Nubb in 2003
-
http://www.complex.com/sports/2013/09/the-25-best-jukes-in-college-football-history-gifs/daren-sproles
TT's on that poor DB in Lawrence was amaze
-
1 Mario smith hit
2 Scott Edmonds kick flip against Baylor
3 Ells run against Nebraska
4 sproles screen 03 against ou
5 KU sack sandwich
-
One of my favorites that was completely irrelevant in the game is a David Allen punt return against Baylor. He got hit before the ball got there, seemingly intentionally to keep him from returning it, and then Baylor quits on the play and he returns it for a touchdown anyways.
Just seemed to highlight the difference between the programs at the time too.
-

1995 @Cincinnati I was in my room with a few friends listening to Mitch on the old clock radio. When Lockett made the catch the entire campus exploded. True EMAW experience. Even people you were quite sure didn't know football existed came running out cheering.
-
How many Gooches do we need around here?

This will always be my number 1:
1991- Paul Watson, with the protection breaking down, lofts a high pass that just happens to land in the waiting arms of one Andre Coleman who runs into the EZ to put the Cats ahead of KU. Had been down 12-3 but this time it just felt different. Songbird day too. Sunny, beautiful fall day.
Had turned the ball over 5 times that day, but completed 10 of his last 15 to get the Cats the lead. I believe the Cats D had to hold on downs inside their own 10 to hang on for the win.

That "idiot Nebraskan" is my IRL friend Joe Walker. :gocho:

4. Lamur blocked PAT to win Farmageddon '09
5. Ell to Evans go ahead TD with 1:15 left Holiday Bowl vs AzSt '02

that didn't really answer my question. my q is more why is on people's list over more important plays?
-
No clue. Its weird to remember a kick especially a non game winner is v. weird. that's the equivalent of hey, remember that one punt when sean really pinned them back.. wowza, what a kick.
which reminds me we need a not top 5.. and I'd say not having the punter on the field against OU would have to be on there
-

People like it because it's an FBS record that's stood for almost 20 years now. Many of us were there. You don't really get very many oppy's for single play records anymore. The longest run? 99 yards. Longest pass? 99 yards. Longest kick return? 109 yards. Those records are held by a ton of different jokers.
Longest (without a tee) FG? 65 yards - September 12, 1998, MHK.
It's a cool thing.
-
Not top 5:
1 no punter
2 jump behind the back pass
3 Ron Prince play action bomb/int as first play
4 when we took a TO to NOT go for it on 4th and 1 vs TCU and they march down the field and beat us
5 Bryce brown end zone fumble
-
Here's mine:
Straw to Hernandez
Lockett one-hander
Canty(I think) forcing fumble against aTm and Simoneau jumping on it to seal the win (DB's make plays!)
David Allen punt return against TX in 98
Sproles screen TD vs OU
-
I walked out early for half and missed the fg. Just heard he crowd roar. Gramatica was a wild and crazy dude.

Arthur Brown Jr. INT of RG3.
