That is hands down the best thing I've ever heard in my life.

LOVE this.  :D  :D

I hope that Townie credentials is a recurring theme. Maybe some guests will enjoy providing their own credentials. Or if there is a report of a local event, Townie credentials of those involved could be particularly enlightening.

It sounded like it was recorded in a bathroom.

Also "John" pretty much stole the show.

I could get behind a "Manhattan johns w John" podcast.

Listening. Have not yet heard UFB's "Little Apple Girl" and I'm confused why. Good show tho.

This. I'm not sure why John isn't one of the hosts. I mean that Steve guy isn't even a townie really.

Maybe the title should be "Talk of the Townies and Guys That Claim They are Townies but Probably aren't".

John is like Master townie, but Ben legitimized me as a townie so I think I support him the most. Steve is a poser, and Evan sounded angry to be there.

I'm hoping this spawns a whole "townie" podcast network, like "real kansas citians, w/ 'clams and 'tola" "the crossroads, w/' bias" and "things we pretend don't suck about Wichita, w/ the gooches"

No MHS is a big knock against anyone's Townie credentials. "Steve" does have the new restaurant thing down, though, and more than enough overall Townie enthusiasm to be a good host.

Yeah. Im actually somewhat familiar with all four people. Both of the hosts and both of the guests. By far, Steve knows the most people in mhk and has incredible zeal. He'll be great.

old lucky brew grille.  when you sons of bitches started talking about that place it brought back some memories.  jeff the bartender, bob the owner.  DJamer palmer.

and no mhs, no townie.  tell the steve guy that he's a wanna be.

also would like to see a legends of MHK segment each week where the hosts dig into a different mhk urban legend (non-fiction or fiction)

Also, is it weird how you drive north on the LHC Bill Snyder only to come into town on the east side and then the Main Street is an east west street?  That always freaked me out.

For most of my time there, I would think west was north for that reason.  Fortunately, there's almost no times one needs to know that stuff there.  Now I base my mhk compass off knowing the vanier side of bsfs is north.

You should get a bunch of the usual Townie naysayers who hate change, want MHK to continue to look like a "small town" and don't want any progress.   The comments on the FB post about the Aggieville concepts are so typical.

While I don't care for some of the building design, I can't help but laugh at the people who prefer that the most visible corridor into campus continue to be lined with a bunch of old, decrepit slum lord houses, with noted exceptions.   Gentrification in doses is good and is much needed along that route.   Some day, okay, never, the "hate everything" townies will come to their senses and realize that K-State must continue to draw on people and money from all over the world and those people don't want to engage in an area that comes across like it gives no effs (in some regards), but will happily take tens of thousands of dollars of your money in the process.   That's not the way the world works.

Look, coming into town in the old days on the old bridge and seeing big old grain elevators, a run down train depot, a concrete materials place, and a mall as you came over probably wasn't the best look.

Fair enough.  I just imagined where I went to school would be better than that.  Maybe I put that, at the time, mystery school on a pedestal.  The campus is no doubt beautiful, and more than I expected for sure.  When I visited K-State I had no intention of attending, but the campus and the people quickly changed that.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend anyone, maybe KS has a lot of shithole towns.  I'm just saying that a facelift in that main travel corridor would be greatly appreciated by me and probably many others.  Call it gentrification or whatever.  There is sure to be an increased demand in real-estate in MHK and there are some really cool houses that could use some TLC and I bet the investment would pay off more often than it doesn't.

Every college town has some drag filled with the college slums (and not all of the homes/apartments on that stretch are slums).  Anyway, the Bluemont Hotel increased the aesthetics on that quarter mile quite a bit, and I imagine as the town continues to grow, that stretch in particular will see some new development.

A couple thoughts while waiting anxiously for episode 4.

1.  Seems like the door should be open for boss interim AD and local townie stud Laird Veatch to be a guest sometime.

2.  Show needs a dedicated theme song of some sort.  Something short and funny.  Usually I am good at coming up with stuff like this but I was drawing a blank on material.

About:  does he force that enormous and wise Goliath voice out of his tiny body? It's almost supernatural.

For:  when you said "keep their noses clean" was it a normal figure of speech or a literal reference to COCAINE?

I really liked the last 2, especially cox bros. It's really great to hear the origin stories of local successful people. Also, [the creators] are getting better and better at producing the show.

constructive criticism alert: the seth one seemed to assume that everyone knows seth and knows about the bar he is opening. I don't, but by the end I was able to piece together through circumstantial evidence that I may have recognized him from lucha/so long and that he is apparently opening a bar called hi/lo that is seemingly located in the remodeled corpse of aggie station. a brief introduction of him and the specifics of his current project would have been very helpful for anyone who hasn't lived in manhattan for 15 months to develop complete enjoyment for this 'cast experience.

if you've never gone to cat town tailgating and shared some beers with the cox bros you really should, they are a treat.

Also we are now on iTunes "Talk of the Townies"

please rate/review

The iTunes feed starts with episode 5 for some reason and I will try to get that fixed.

I think you should do a show where Steve makes strange drinks that KK and the special guests have to experience and give their opinions.  Bonus....everyone gets to a 6 before the show is over.
