Title: I've had it with Wes
Post by: Powercat Posse on February 01, 2017, 08:55:11 PM
2-6 Free throws in crunch time. His defense too... 1st possession for them on OT, there was no reason to switch. There was no screen. He just stood in a spot and expected Stokes to switch.  34 hits an open 3.
How bout stay with the taller player Wes. Tired and Lazy.  His steal D was too little too late. The damage was done

He doesn't have "it". He should just be a sophomore forever. Senior is gross on him.

He has significantly regressed under Weber.  One of the many reason to fire him.

He really should try harder to hit those free throws :dubious:

He's getting close to Shane Southwell territory on the wasted talent meter.

Weber teams are like bizzaro-FP, TC etc. All the players that didn't transfer are FP's

Guys, we can waste time and argue about players, or we can focus on something that everyone agrees on, which is that oscar Weber is a pile of crap.

"Fine, I've got a toast. To oscar Weber, he's the best... at being a big jerk who's stupid and his big ugly face is as dumb as a butt!"

He seems pouty.

Kind of. He was just going through the motions the last 5 min of 2nd Hf and OT. He was almost invisible except for the missed FTs

You think Shane Southwell was wasted talent?

I really don't understand what people's issue is with Wes, I think it is based on people assigning him ideal attributes because of how he looks.

I'm sure Pulitzer Dave doesn't think oscar is the problem.

So other than those fouls drew he didn't do anything else?

For me, it's the flashes of brilliance he shows. He'll take off from the free throw line and jam it down everyone's throats. He'll stutter step and sink a three. He'll ball out and steal the ball to dunk it on the other end.

I love Wes and I want to love him full time. But, he's just so inconsistent. He disappears for long stretches. As a senior he (and DJamer) just need to put this team on their shoulders like Jake did. Or, maybe I should stop caring about basketball.  :bang:

It is absolutely a fair and accurate criticism to call Wes inconsistent. The same can be said for most college basketball players, if he had the ability to consistently put it together he probably wouldn't still be playing college basketball.

Jake was a once a generation, transcendent phenomenon.

Drawing fouls are great if you can make the FTs when you are in the double bonus.  Not the first time he has tightened up in a close late game and missed them.

His defense and Rebounding were nowhere to be found the last 10-12 minutes of the game.  He has intangibles to be very good 1-on-1 defender, but too many times that person isn't on the court

We don't need him to be Pullen or McGruder, just be a positive force and not a negative one in these close games late.

learnin raises a good point.

Bad luck. Weber is marked. How come every team that plays us, with rare exceptions, just goes crazy shooting?

Should have stopped at, "he missed some free throws." Everything else you pointed out are made up confirmation biases to feed your frustration.

Not sure my other points were made up. Someone pointed out how he disappears for long stretches. He is our 2nd best rebounder and didn't have a rebound the last 19 minutes according to the play by play. He wasnt alone on playing less than stellar D when TCU was scoring at will the last 12 minutes.  The missed FTs were only part of his incomplete game.

It's just my opinion but I hate that a 4 year Senior is so inconsistent and can't be trusted more times than not when the game is on the line

I love West. I rarely watch the games anymore. I'm all in on UK.
