Title: Taxes
Post by: SdK on January 12, 2017, 07:32:59 PM
I always use taxact. Is there any reason a single guy that rents and doesn't have any major assets or expenses would seek an agency to do his taxes for him?

Feel free to use as a master thread.

My dad's special lady friend is involved in some state program where people can come into some state building downtown and cpas will do their taxes for free provided you have all the information on hand.

They charge for state

Depends on which one you get. If you can use 1040EZ or 1040A they have a free version that includes 1 state for free.

I use Turbo Tax (though I have to pay).  Have never sent my taxes to an agent and could be losing out on money but so far it has been a simple formula.  I don't think I can really deduct anything other than charitable donations, mortgage interest, and harvested losses on investments (and I get forms for the last two, so the only one I have to track myself is the donations).

i have used Turbo Tax for years. It is easy to use, and I can do the whole thing in a couple of hours.

Credit Karma Tax.    Totally free for everyone.

Though I just became a shareholder in our company, so I may have to actually start hiring someone.   Not sure yet.    Don't really want to....
