Turnovers and mind-blowing one-sided officiating really did us in. Surprised the advanced stats look that good on O. God bless the 3-ptr

A lot of turnovers on charges.
-
Good point. I think we got called for 9 offensive fouls. At most, 2 were legitimate.
-
1) 7 of our 15 TOs were on Charges/ Offensive fouls.
2) we didn't lose this game because of 1 player....but Westicles missed 1-and-1 under 20 seconds vs Maryland and then his awful TO under 20 seconds tonight. I expect more from a Senior.
3) we started out 4-16 FG, 2-5 FTs, 6 turnovers....First 17 Poss (trailed 18-12)
4) We then shot 16-23 with 7 3pt makes and 11-12 FT. 84.8 eFG next 37 Poss.
Then Kam missed 1-and-1 with chance to put us up 6 with 1:50
5) Yes the D in the 2nd half wasn't good.
6) I'm still furious with the entire play with us up 1. Bad pass by Wes, Sneed hustles his ass off to get the block, and Brown doesn't hustle back to get the rebound. Layup off of Offensive rebound.
-
I will say I liked that oscar didn't call timeout at the end. Brown got to the rim, you can't ask for more in that situation.

When that bald guy from Tech goes back home to wherever he's from if his father and his friends don't give him crap for being a lazy flopping coward, they should be ashamed as well. I've never seen anything like that in my life, most of the time they didn't even put their hands up, they just felt contact and fell. There was literally one single time the entire game when the officials didn't call a block or charge, it was deplorable.

I agree, I didn't think a timeout on either of the final possessions was the right call.
-
So our second half rebounding was exactly what I thought it was, horrific. They crashed the boards hard and it looked like we made a point not to send bodies to rebound, it was frustrating to watch.
-
Kamau has had an off season, happy to see him break out, sad to see it overshadowed.
Also I'd like to talk about this issue of not having a go to guy. I really like Wes, it seems like he's taken the role of having the ball late, I'd rather he didn't. I want Kamau taking the last shot, I think he our best shooter but he can't create for himself.

no one on this team is a great go to player. Throughout the game I like Wes playing Pt Forward part of the time. But if he is gonna have the ball in his hands late, we need to be running a set shot or play for someone else. Tonight he drove to the hoop hoping his path might be clear, and as soon as it wasn't he jumped in the air with only one intention...throw a jump pass. And what was worse is he didn't see someone open and throw a jump pass, he jumped up hoping DJamer or someone on the backside was open. Throwing the ball out of bounds would have been better than the garbage pass he did make.
I'm fine with Dean, Sneed or Kam taking a late jumper
BTW.. I'm not thrilled with the Kam Ervin Brown 3 guard look we did a bit tonight
-
Wes is fine at creating for himself, he just made a bad play - it happens.
I do think all our players are afraid to make plays one on one which makes us less effective in late game situations, but I don't think Wes is to blame for that.

Seems coached out of them.

Had huge effect on the game.

Mistakes happen. But they get magnituded when it's late and close (kinda like a QB who misses a wide open WR on 3rd and goal from the 8 down 4-5 pts). I just wished he would have tried lobbing it over to DJamer. Goes out of bounds, oh well. The throwing the ball right to defender, fast break layup is kinda worst possible thing.
-
Tech got its advantage by getting to the line 8 more times and drawing 7 charges. That rough ridin' stupid.

well that's basically our offense so hrmm
1-1 breakdown defense then kick ball to open shooter or slashing guard

this could all have been handled during the time out at the end that you didn't want
of course, oscar would have set up another d wade 21' shot which many here supported vs ku

Except for the fact that everyone seems comfortable with the ball in Wes' hands, they had that so why call time out? Also calling time out in no way guarantees you'll get what you want. Do you think Bill Self drew up Svi getting the ball and picking his dribble up 40 feet from the basket?

everyone isn't acceptable with wes having the ball in his hands with the game on the line, have you not been watching this team?
not sure the answer to your bill self question, no guessing what goes on in lawrentucky.
-
the stiff skinny big switched on the screen and was guarding iwu and gray switched to DJamer. i think you want to try and take advantage of one of those mismatches, not call a timeout and let them reset.

oscar had no idea that any of those things happened and he was certainly not executing some master plan by not taking the TO
that said, i understand why he didn't take it, some coaches just want to keep the ball moving and the momentum of the game and based upon his recent history, he has no reason to believe that him X'ing and O'ing up some play was going to result in anything better than just letting his team play it out w/out his help

Been watching enough to see that in the four late and close games we've had he's had the ball in his hands. How much more evidence do we need to know this is what they want?
-
dunno, how about the game that came down to the closing seconds that we lost before this one?
-
Anyone.know why Bullnuts isn't playng? Hot Horndog is a cult icon, a good back up for Westicles, but he isn't a transClaws or DJamer.

There's no way you could be talking about the KU game. In that game we ran a play for Wes to dribble drive to tie the game in the next to last possession. On the last possession we called a timeout to get Wes the ball in a 1-4. You must be thinking of the other last game we lost, it'd be embarrassing to call someone else out for forgetting something they happen to remember vividly.

Hot Horndawgz gets so much praise by all the tucks at Bramlage it really isn't funny. To me he is the laughing stock of the team though
