I really think this is an old argument pushed by the people doing the recruiting rankings, like ESPN, Rivals, Scout.
1. I recognize that Snyder is awesome.
2. I also realize that some kids will peak talent-wise at 17-18 vs. some that will grow into studs.
But, to say that we were less talented, seems odd to me? Other than using it as a gimmick talking point to distract from the fact they aren't all that accurate (although they have a decent track record with the 5 stars). Look at the recruiting rankings of A&M vs. K-State...A&M didn't have that many players that were better than our guys, and obviously we won the game.
A&M's 2014 class alone (featured 5 star Myles Garrett) had 3-5 Stars and 10-4 Stars alone. The media doesn't won't admit it but they are pushing a lie, because recruiting coverage has become such a big business for them.
Heath-2 star
Risner-3 star
Lee-3 star
Johnson-2 star
Adams-2 star
Dimel-3 star
2013: (A&M signed 15-4 stars)
Ertz:-2 star
Valentine-2 star
Willis-3 star
Moore-3 star
Thoughts anyone? :ksu:

I think this same discussion has been going on for too long

Just imagine what could happen is the overall talent and speed was just a little better? But as I always say, to bring that up, immediately causes Tuck Nation to meltdown and say you're demanding K-State out recruit Alabama.
Tuck Nation just loves the feel good stories about the try harders and under recruited, so it's never going to change.

where does aTm get those giant receivers at? i thought the coverage was pretty good for the most part last night, and those monsters just climbed over our db's and took what they wanted.

I think they got them from moron mountain

If Snyder coached that A&M team they would have smoked KState by 30.

Their 5 star receiver who's name is literally speedy wasn't even on the field last night either.

Pft, they wouldn't have been in that game... they'd e going for their 5th straight Natty if Snyder coached for them... according to Aggies logic.
-
I thought we looked equal in speed, if not faster.
-
Pringle and heath ran away from their d. Silmon was plenty fast. Cmoore made plays in space.
Would have loved to see how Barnes stacked up in that game.

Nope. According to dick brain'd SEC bubbas the Aggies didn't want to be there and were just going through the motions. They just sat there and did not try after getting crap talked and litterally tea bagged.

The last big breakout run that Silmon had in the 4th Barnes would have housed.

One only has to look at the NFL and how many kick returners matriculated at K-State to know the lack of speed meme is a myth.

I think the "talent level" the Cats had on the field was pretty good this year.

We will have 6'4"/6'5" Carlos Strickland (former 4 *) available next season.

I watched this today and thought the same. Our DBs look tiny but physically we were their equal or better in every matchup.
Texas Bowl - 30 minute cutup, plays only (https://youtu.be/Mq5GoZH7E6g)

SEC talent just lost to South Florida in front of a handful of fans. Surprised to learn South Carolina had enough wins to play in a bowl, however shitty.
-
SEC talent just got run out of the Belk Bowl in the second half. Also, SEC talent got run out of a Belk store for stealing.

Okay, I'll admit that on that first drive I was thinking "here we go again", but then Pringle happened. From that point on we looked like equals in speed if not faster.
-
Snyder 2.0 has settled into this groove where we like a type of guy, and we recruit to that mold. We throw a couple of passive hail mary's at guys we won't get, and then we get down to recruiting a type that can almost be set into a defined height/weight/speed range.
This tenure is so systematic that it's damn near German quality engineering. That's why we see this consistent level of 8-10 wins more often than not. You will have dips above and below, but not much. The peaks and valleys are reduced because we recruit guys that we can plug and play after obsessive drilling and preparation.
A real talent at a key position (Klein, Brown, Lockett, Willis) can make things a tiny bit different, but by and large, this thing is just going to plod along because it's designed to be just what it is.
-
So far, SEC talent has managed to beat a MAC school by 1 point after blocking a FG.
-
I'm conflicted...do I root for the Nubs to beat SEC talent today?

I enjoy sec misery as much as the next guy but I don't want too much "the SEC is down" talk with our noncon the next few years

I don't remember the last time I heard, "The SEC is down," talk.

Yes, I hope the SEC loses out.
Won't happen, Nubb missing three top players, and the line has moved to Tenn -10 already

Our issues have been depth.

Our issues have been depth.
I held my breath the whole season hoping none of our defensive starters went down.

I feel like we have, "depth," issues every single year.

Any program of our type will always have depth issues when compared to proverbial CFP candidates.
-
I have a new idea for a recruiting pitch for the KSU cats. Whenever we go to recruit we should tell them that we will be in the big 12 title game and they will be a conference champ as either a frosh or a transfer. Seems fail proof if you ask me. We win titles, have awesome talent come in and then could beat Bama in the CFP

Yeah, this doesn't seem hard to figure out.

I didn't say it was mysterious.
