128, just grab a few high school teams to round out the first round and give the KUs of the world a shot at the second round

This for now. The 5 conference champions and the highest ranked non champ. Two highest ranked get the bye.

Conference champs from each of the P5, an at-large from the champs of the lower conferences, and then 2 at large

This, in my opinion, is the absolute worst option. If you're going to expand go to 8, but you should stay at 4. They've gotten it correct each year since its started.

Does a CSU fan need to wrap his head around this? Leave it to the P5 big boys to figure out so you can keep monitoring your three-star B-back recruits.

+1, I can't understand why more people don't see it this way.

The #4 team is more than 2 touchdown dogs to the #1 team.  I don't see why we need 8 teams to determine who is the best.

we don't need really need any teams to play in order to determine who is best

Who cares about conference champs?  I certainly don't.  Whether or not you won your conference is irrelevant to being the best team in the country.

Yep. They had it right the first time. Just vote for a team after the season is over.

Heck, just vote for a team before the season starts.

There is no right number.  The BCS was much better and I called that people would be pining for the BCS after a couple years of the CFP disaster.  What a joke.

I really wish Kim Carnes meant just half of the stuff he posts. It's not as entertaining knowing he's just trolling and trying to get a rise out of people.  :frown:

Eliminate the at large, only conference champs get in.  The only reason the at large would be there is to get Notre dame in, or to pick a traditional power over a Boise state

In hindsight, yes, that was a stupid comment on my part.  I interpreted highest ranked non-champ as in... highest ranked non-Power 5 champ.
