That definitely helped, but I think the work we have put in was the determining factor.

We will have 50 at halftime.

How many coaches put up 100 points in their 200th win?

I forget. Is the game in Lawrence or Manhattan? Translated: Do your players have to run through a sewage-smelling tunnel in an old, rundown stadium, or do they get to run through the new and clean-smelling tunnel and stadium?

The game is in Manhattan. I'm not sure what you are asking here, we play in a great setting and our fans make it a great home for our program.

Snyder is an assh*le when it comes to KU though. He'll play KU as if they are Alabama even if KU were to come into the game 0-10.

They get it.

Yes, if anything KU beating Texas just added 10 points to the final margin. Snyder won't mess around with these guys.

The funny thing about ksu is that you look at them on paper and they shouldn't be any better then KU, but the big difference is they have LHC Bill Snyder and they're at home, which will result in KU losing by at least 3 touchdowns

There are hundreds of KU fans on that board that are still convinced that their players are on the same level...The last 7 years have plunged them into an unhealthy state of denial.
What's really going to hit home...is when we don't have LHBC anymore...and KState still tromps them. It might wake them up as to what the future looks like for their basketball school.

We had our big day last Saturday.
This week reality returns in a pumped stadium of overall wearing hillbillies, a coach possibly playing his last game who is idolized even though he's this far from using a walker, a bowl bid by simply taking care of business, and their most hated rival teed up to be treated like a pinata.
It's back to our traditional road game performance. Those of us watching will be drinking everything that's left over from Thanksgiving.

That's actually a really solid take. ... impressed. Although the bowl bid is already assured...this win on Saturday just moves us up a rung. 8 wins is looking likely. TCU has issues. Shoulda been 10 wins but let a couple close ones slip, (no Klein bailouts)

Honestly, I expect KU to get the first points and for us to be tied at the end of the first, then we go up a couple scores by half and make it embarrassing in the third. Hubes gets at least one TD. :ksu:

That guy is saying that they don't have the longest road losing streak but they do. They have the longest FBS streak ever. The only other longer documented road losing streak is from a D2 school from the 1920s and 30s, and they use this to deny they have the longest streak, as if we compare D2 records to FBS records in any other aspect of college sports.

It's not the fault of the LJ-W... They believe this because the Rivals/Scout/247 recruiting rankings annually place their class equal to, or above, ours.
The difference lies in the intrinsic values, guys.

Any given Saturday.
We are LHC Bill Snyder's super bowl though. He likes to destroy Kansas on a regular basis to distract the KSU fanbase from his bowl record and overall lack of success at a high level. He gets what he can out of KSU, but not much more.

Thank you for fleshing that out for me. That's a nice stat to put KU's troubles into perspective.

Our players are, in real life, bigger, faster, stronger, more athletic, and better conditioned. But, some internet website that pretty much gives 80% of college recruits the same rating says their players were almost as good 4 years ago.

They have hope, that's good.

It is their only road win during the Obama presidency. It's a shame they beat UTEP, because being winless would be a truly remarkable factoid.

Cole: I’ve heard a lot of talk about KU making progress this season, and I do think they’re somewhat better. But they’ve played five road games this season and have been outscored 251-57 in those games, an average defeat of 50-11. This is a program that hasn’t won a Big 12 game on the road in more than eight years and has lost 40 consecutive contests away from home overall. In addition, over their last 36 road games, the Jayhawks have been outscored by a combined score of 1,546-468, an average margin of defeat of 43-13 per game. KU’s closest game on the road this year was a 27-point loss at West Virginia. There’s a reason K-State is favored by 27.

Not quite on pace for 100 so I guess we will have to settle for 70 or so.

i really want to punish their anuses today. i love how snyder enjoys decimating the jayhawks and this may be his last chance to embarrass them.

Seriously, eff these refs.

And eff these announcers.

Defense playing well. Nice Pick 6. Offense sputtering along with a few big runs to keep us in the game. Last couple of series left a bit to be desired. Hopefully it won't be 2015 halftime adjustments. I prefer the 2016 keep running it down their throats theme.
KState just being Kstate. Go Cats.

This Dimel crap needs to end.

I suppose Barnes wouldn't have taken another minute off the clock. So there's that.

barnes is a big ripped stud. he might have a chance to break my ksu powerlifting record.

well it's obvious we're going to destroy the jayhawks, now it's just time to injure as many of them as we can before the clock runs out

And owning your instate rival even when the team is a year away for doing anything than winning ugly is still fun, too. Sure, I would have liked to see more Barnes in the fourth quarter just for style points, but he's healthy and ready for TCU.

I'm thinking this Beaty guy is their first coach since Glen Mason. Mangino was a one-hit wonder and the others were varying degrees of abomination.

How many decades away is ku from beating us. We ran the same play 65 times for 400 yards. They couldn't stop. We didn't even do it well.
Ku is rough ridin' horrible.
-
Might be next yr. If bill retires, takes a while to do it so that we don't have optimal search time, the new guy is a oscar, and we don't immediately gain decent recruits or assistants. Could easily see something stupid like this happening when bill goes and opens the basement door.
-
_FAN is right. I'd much rather root for a mediocre to occasionally good football team than something like KU.
-

Agree, next year is going to be a battle. i can see them taking a bigger step forward next year.

We were fine. Snyder puckered up with the injuries and we sent the house often against KU. They burned us bad once. But overall, we played fine and won #200.

He beat a bad UT team. Strong's players show up and are all supportive at his press conference, but yet they play like crap on game days. KU is getting better, but they have so far to go that better is relative.
Your KSU Cats have a much better shot at making a big jump next year than the Hawks.
JMHO.

i hope i never become so debased by the world as to value corporal wins and losses over wins and losses of morality.

I was actually surprised Barnes played at all after that helmet to helmet hit. Looked like a concussion to me.

He also forced an injured Hubes back out there because Delton threw an incomplete pass.

You could definitely make an argument that Snyder is a pos human being or just flat out doesn't understand the long term ramifications of concussions.

Folks, we always want to exhibit extreme levels of TSC here, so with that I want to congratulate KU for one of the finest moral victories ever seen yesterday.

A trainer was applying icy hot to the back of his neck at one point. He was also pointing to/holding his left arm after coming out the second time. Looked like a neck/stinger issue.

Of course it did...
KU can't have that kind of moral victory without there being a moral loser.

Watching Wyo vs. UNM and their replay official made the same mistake the official in our game made in not buzzing down to correct an obvious targeting penalty.
Jeff Kelly was saying it wasn't targeting because he wasn't defenseless at the time. I'm not sure if that's essential, though.
RULES
Targeting and Initiating Contact With the Crown of the Helmet (Rule 9-1-3)
No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.
Targeting and Initiating Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player (Rule 9-1-4)
No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 2-27-14)
Note: Beginning in 2013, ejection from the game is a part of the penalty for violation of both Rule 9-1-3 and Rule 9-1-4.
KEY ELEMENTS
Target—to take aim at an opponent for purposes of attacking with an apparent intent that goes beyond making a legal tackle or a legal block or playing the ball.
Crown of the Helmet—the top portion of the helmet.
Contact to the head or neck area—not only with the helmet, but also with the forearm, fist, elbow, or shoulder—these can all lead to a foul.
Defenseless player—a player not in position to defend himself.
Examples (Rule 2-27-14):
A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass.
A receiver attempting to catch a pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier.
A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return.
A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick.
A player on the ground.
A player obviously out of the play.
A player who receives a blind-side block.
A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped.
A quarterback any time after a change of possession.
-
probably been discussed already but I'm mainly irate at our shitbrain coaches for sending out an obviously concussed player to get his head smashed a few more times.
-

My initial reaction was that it had to be targeting, but after looking at the rule I'm not so sure. Barnes wasn't in a defenseless position and he lowered his shoulder as well which contributed to the head to head contact.
As far as concussions go, yes, it looked very questionable. But I do know that K-State and all other NCAA schools have a standard set of procedures that must follow involving the team trainers, baseline testing of some sort, and being cleared before any coach and reinsert a player in a game. I know people will be cynical about how those procedures are followed, but there was something followed by people other than our coaching staff to allow Barnes to be back in the game. Do with that what you will.
-
I thought it should have been targeting because he led with the top of his helmet.
-
It was forceable contact above the shoulder with the crown of the helmet, whether he was defenseless or not is irrelevant. That hit violated 9-1-3 and 9-1-4. The defenseless player element only comes into play when not using the crown of the helmet; i.e. a shoulder to the head of a wide receiver catching a ball on a slant. You can make a pretty compelling argument that Elijah Lee violated 2-27-14 more than once against Baylor.
That crew we had on Saturday was really bad. I thought so while at the game and that was confirmed when I watched on television later. That 15 yard sideline violation they called against KU was one of the five worst calls I've seen this year.
-
I think you're right MIR.
-
I don't remember whether he hit him with the crown or not.
if he did, it would be a 913 violation. to be a 914 violation the player must be defenseless -- barnes was not defenseless.

That 15 yard sideline violation they called against KU was one of the five worst calls I've seen this year.
What happened there? I haven't seen the replay.

I don't recall them showing anything on TV, but I just assumed the ref made contact with a KU coach while running down the sideline. That's an automatic 15 even if it seems innocuous.

Yes, any contact is automatic at all levels now. It happened in the Denver-KC game last night too.

Watching Beatty go off was pretty amazing.

I was actually surprised Barnes played at all after that helmet to helmet hit. Looked like a concussion to me.
Watching Barnes lay on the field after that hit, I felt like a bad person for enjoying football and buying tickets which help propagate the sport. I hope he is okay.

his family should sue our school for however much money our school has for our dumbass coaches trotting him back out there. and then he falls to the ground holding his head later. he's completely rough ridin' spaghetti brained and it was obvious.

I don't remember whether he hit him with the crown or not.

He hit him with the crown, television didn't show the replay well but they did at the game, multiple times, even showed a freeze frame. Sidenote, don't know who is running the video replays at the stadium but I am shocked that they haven't gotten a strongly worded letter from the conference this year. I can think of several instances where the video replay person has used video to openly contradict bad calls, sometimes in a pretty in your face manner. I think it is great but it is a departure from what we've done in the past and even what you see in pro sports venues.

The television replay wasn't 100% conclusive but the coach he made contact with looked to me to not be on the white, if he was it was like his toes. What the television replay does show, you have to look for it yourself, is that the official that threw the flag was waaaayyyy out of bounds at one point and was definitely inside the white. I have no idea why that official was so far out of bounds, he clearly lost his way while running away from the receiver and DB.

Yeah, whoever is doing that was fantastic this year and I'm surprised it continued all season.

yep. that person is a person that I'd want to hang out with. they have to be like "oh well that was a super crappy call. watch how riled up I can make every person in the stadium by showing it over and over and slow mo on repeat." it's great.
