So Trump's plan would drastically reduce tax income. We've got a debt ceiling vote coming up. Republicans control both houses of congress. Trump loves debt, has been pretty open about that. Many Republicans congressmen have built their entire careers around balancing the budget. How are these things smashed together? Going to be very weird.
-
Either careers are about to be ruined, or trump will waive his hand infront of constituents faces and say "debt is good" and jedi mindtrump them into believing debt is good.
-
If it's the latter, this could be a really interesting ride.
-
I'd expect to see a lot of dem pet projects defunded. Plus, I thought his corporate tax cuts got rid of a lot of deductions, so I wouldn't be surprised if revenues went up.
Trump prides himself a master negotiator, meaning compromise. It will be interesting to see how his tactics translate in the swamp.

You should look up a chart comparing income tax to revenue over time. Not a very good correlation. It's the economy, stupid. Reducing spending is the far more direct and certain way to reduce deficits.

What do you think he's going to cut spending on?
-
We have to make our country rich again so we can do that, so we can save Social Security. Because I'm not a cutter. I'll probably be the only Republican that doesn't want to cut Social Security. I want to make the country rich so that Social Security can be afforded and Medicare and Medicaid. Get rid of the waste. Get rid of the fraud. But you deserve your Social Security.[18]

Oh he's gonna increase spending on net. I have no hope for Trump on the deficit score. I suppose some welfare and entitlement reform is possible but I'm not optimistic.
I am hoping he dismantles the Depts of Energy and Education and TSA and downsides the EPA. A guy can dream.

That'll be good for employment. At least they can get wall and heavy manufacturing jobs that have come back.
-
Yeah he's going to be shitty on deficits and for the first time in 8 years; budgets, deficits and debt are going to matter again.
Congrats to those marginalized terms, 8 years is a long time to be told repeatedly you don't matter.
"it's just money" and "just numbers" . . . so long friends, see you 4 years from now. :sadface

He's seemingly been pretty good at Jedi mindtrumping people into believing trade is bad, so I wouldn't count him out. We used to say "to the victor go the spoils" in this country, after all.

Are you implying budgets, deficits, and debts mattered to GWB?

First off, thanks for the follow cRusty, soak in the wisdom.
They only matter to Dems when they're not in control.
Man what a time with GWB, years of sub 500 billion deficits.
Record tax receipts, but still $500 billion plus deficits under Obama. Record haul in October for treasury, still nearly a $50 billion dollar shortfall :sadfiscalface

I think what my friend dax is trying to say is budgets and deficits only matter to the gop when a Democrat is president. I have to agree with him.

The puny little deficits of GWB are barely even worth discussing passive aggressive Lib. Pffft . . .

Thing is reallyangrylib, the GOP barely said crap at $500-$750 billion dollar plus deficits relative to the total meltdown by Pelosi et al at $200 billion dollar deficits. You know, 10 years ago when the government actually had, ya know, a budget.
-
Guys, we all know trump is racsist against deficits.
