Title: Question on the rules of leaving the big 12.
Post by: nicname on May 08, 2010, 01:27:38 PM
It is true that the Big12 tv contract is up in 2 years.
Isn't it also true that you have to give the Big 12 2 years notice before leaving the conference, and if you leave abrubtly there are stiff financial penalties?

Are the Big 12 prospects so dim that MU and whoever else is willing to take the fines or whatever and leave rather than wait until the new contract is finalised.

I ask because it is my belief that these things are cyclical.  The Big 10 started their new tv deal first thus made big money.  The SEC went next and got big money.  I see no reason why the Big 12 wont follow suit.

I could also see the Pac10 Big 12 deal holding real weight.(the yv deal, not the super conf.)

I do imagine we'll get substantially more money when the new tv deal gets made, but it won't be near as much as the Big10 simply because much of the Big XII is in low population areas.

I've already accepted the fact that we'll be rivals with these guys (http://www.missouristatebears.com/)   in a year or two

Sorry, Texas State has already reserved any and all future rivalries with Kansas State University, INC., LLC, PhD, etc

I agree their website is much cooler http://www.txstatebobcats.com/ plus any conference with a rivalry like K-State vs. T-State would NEVER be split up

After handling the jayhawks, next up for the Wildcats is a trip to San Marcos to take on their new rivals the T-State Bobcats!!!!!!!!
