Personal preference will determine your style. I prefer moccasins. Solid sole. Soft lining. Enclosed heel.

This country is slippers ground zero. Its actually in my lease that I am forbidden from wearing shoes inside the house.
They also use separate toilet room slippers. Like you slip off your house slippers and slip on toilet slippers. This is also true in restaurants. Many restaurants make you take off your shoes and you use community toilet slippers in the toilet.
-
That's odd. Sharing shoes in public would be very weird. Imagine stinky foot coworker getting those puppies nice crusty for you.
-
It's weird but better than walking in a restaurant bathroom barefoot. Some people carry slippers around with them.
-
To echo j-puni you really need two pair since you have dog. For outside use l like a slipper with a bit of sole to it because I hate getting the cuff of my pj or sweat pants wet and since I don't wear them like long I prefer the clog style.
-
Very interesting slipper anecdote puni.

Don't listen to this barbarian. Don't wear yoru slippers outside.
-
Hmm, my main use for these would be to keep my feets warm on the porch tho

you missed the point- you need an outside pair & an inside pair. I mean, do you wear your public bathroom slippers in your home?

I really like these Rockports. They have a nice thick rubber sole for indoor use or hanging out on the porch...

Herr's slipper guide
1) Slippers must slip on: so, no high-top style slippers that wrap up over your ankle
2) Slippers mustn't slip off: no open back slippers
3) Fur lined slippers are great, but watch out for a slipper thats going to be too hot, no one likes a sweaty slipper.
4) Slippers should have hard soles.
5) Slippers need to have utility. Need to take the trash out with a foot of snow on the ground? If you have to change into regular shoes, you have the wrong slippers.

Some great tips here. Re: #3, can't do fur lined at all. Way too quick to sweat. I don't want to sweat in my relaxing house shoes. My current slippers have a fur lining around the side/top of the foot, but a vented, regular shoe sole insert. No sweat!

Mrs. Gooch has some disgusting Kstateo ones. They need to be burned.
-
For Christmas one year I got some slippers, like the tan suede indian looking ones, with faux sheep fur on the inside. If I wear them barefoot my feet sweat, but if I put on like ankle socks they don't. Weird. Anyway beware sweaty feets.
-
Damn Google. Slipper ads everywhere now!

They are starting to fall apart. :frown:

I have some with soles that are the Goodyear Aquatread design. They are my go to wood gettin' slippers.
-
My LL Bean slippers have been used regularly for 5 years and are still holding up.
