LHC Bill Snyder believes that time is a flat circle.

Timeouts would be nice in this situation.

Andy Reid was screaming at the TV for them to hurry up

It's usually pretty bad with our stupid rough ridin' offense we run but this was on a whole other shittiness level

Changing the play with five seconds left on the play clock in shotgun formation with a loud environment isn't usually an intelligent idea...

But what do I know? I have zero years of coaching experience

Remember how people argued about qbs and knowing the playbook?. That check needs to come with 10-12 seconds left.

It seemed we had all kinds of confusion most of the day though, 12 illegal sub penalties, 6 time outs to avoid delays.

Dana let wvu defense dictate the game all day

It's probably just some observational bias, but I can't remember a single play we checked into at the very last second that resulted in more than 2 yards.

There was a good short side option run early on

Just got Bill's clock draw tests back. Hard to manage a clock when you, well, this:

The whole checking into plays thing may be past its prime since defenses disguise their coverage.

I realize I am NOT THE FIRST person to comment on this.

It has issues, especially with new QBs. I know Ertz has been around, but its a lot different being relied on for checks during real games, which he's doing for the first time, especially on the road. I think the staff put more trust in him than they should have at WVU and it cost us. This is the system they believe in and it will continue as long as Snyder is here. I know Dimel/Miller are in control of this thing, but the QB check system is a Snyder stronghold and I'm sure he strongly encourages it.

The system would be fine if the coaches would send the play in about 10 seconds faster than they are right now.

I think our staff tries to combine check with me (view defense from the booth, relay down to coach/GA, signal into QB/offense) with the old audible system by the QB at the LOS. To be fair to Ertz, it has to make it really tough on him to get the first call then have the option to change at the LOS.

Maybe we should run a no huddle offense. That would save a lot of time.

If they did, we'd insist on having a wired version with a neek type attached to our qb.
