Making decisions on stuff.. It's like whoa why don't you ask someone else
-
people you are close to getting actually sick and not just "I have strep throat sick." like diseases, real life health issues, dying, etc.
-
people expecting you to act like an adult all the time.
-
Having to pay for things
-
putting the needs and wants of others before yours
-

all the adults you knew when you were a child dying is a big con.

Bills and taxes

Caused by kids (most of the time)

Winner

Yeah, but some times it's nice not to be bothered.

Realizing that one path in life is mutually exclusive of another path, and that you must choose, and forever say goodbye to that other you that might have been.

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler long I stood..."
Embrace the path you choose and honor that choice well.
-
Sounds like most of you turds are adulting wrong. Except for, Ricky D, that's a legitimate shitty part of life.
-
you have to listen to other grown up people use the phrase "adulting" when discussing the most easy functions of life in modern society

yes, hate this.. "oh my god the kids woke me up and want breakfast!" "I don't feel like adulting today" oh just shut up
-
what if you're using the phrase adulting to make fun of the lazy, maladjusted shitheads that use the term seriously?
-
I don't think there are any real cons other than being that much closer to your own death. Even the whole friends and family getting sick and dying is a whole lot easier to handle as an adult than it was for me as a kid. For the most part, being an adult is great and being a kid sucked. I don't have kids, though. Maybe they make everything worse or something.

Need to read it in context first.

The feeling that time is perpetually speeding up. A year feels much shorter than it once did

it's amazing how much of frost's work is misunderstood.

you don't recover as fast from injuries

I wasn't interpreting Frost's work. The post just brought that to mind.

Yeah, that does suck.
-
you feel the burden of how your life impacts other people, like your kids or your community and things like that. when you're a kid you don't really understand that
-
when you hear a scary noise in the middle of the night.. you have to deal with that scary noise!
-
Having to shave every day instead of just once or twice per week.

I'm not sure both parts of your response can be true, but ok.
-
I think it's okay to wonder what might have been. If anything it causes you to take more seriously the next important decision you're about to make.
What if I attended that Ivy League school I got into?
What if I took that job offer in Montana?
What if I try another (new) industry?
-
What if I wasn't such a fuckup?
-
Anxiety over important decisions.
-

This and the anxiety it causes.

I lay awake wondering about the ivy league schools I left on the table, figured I was the only one

I think about if I had kept my grades up in high school and kept getting letters from Duke. What a life that would have been

don't play that game. learn from the mistake(s), put the crap behind you, and move on. stressing about things in the past will lead to a fuckup in the present.
also, you're going to make mistakes, just have your crap together so you can recover from them quickly.
-
hangovers
that's all I can think of, maybe something else- not sure

I know and usually rebound well. It's just hard in the moment. And takes a couple days. Of course not taking care of my affairs only adds to things. I'll succeed. I know it.
-
feeling like you need caffeine..
Yes, basically feeling tired. . .always.
I especially miss staying up all night, getting like four hours of sleep and being completely functional the next day.
-
Having your decisions create real world consequences
-
Having to listen to people bitch and moan all day long over things that don't matter much
-
Having to listen to people bitch and moan all day long over things that don't matter much
I'm pretty sure I was worse at this when I was a kid.

Like government things you can't control, your own shitty life choices and stuff like that is more along the lines of what I meant
-
Yeah, that works.

Not being able to say anything about a baby crying all rough ridin' day long because HR frowns upon it

I just shut my office door when this happens (only happened once so far).
-
Normally I just my headphones in but I couldn't today :frown:

I know this 17 year old kid who has a lumberjack beard and has had it for about 2 years, so what I am saying is that facial hair is not necessarily an adult thing.
-

Mrs Wacky's dad went back to the hospital yesterday, because of a botched procedure from last Thursday trying to remove some new cancer cells that showed up. Ironically, my mother got rushed to the emergency room yesterday for internal bleeding. :frown: They thought it was an ulcer, but just found out it isn't and they still have no clue what's causing it. Two floors separate Mrs. Wacky's father and my mom at the same hospital. What kind of horrible bizzaro world is this?
-
Dang WC. Hope for the best. Sorry to hear you're going through that
-
Thanks, bud. I just feel really bad for both of them. Both really great ppl. Obviously, I really feel for my mom. She's had over 7 eye (torn retina) surgeries in the last 3 years and now this. She's like the bestest thing ever too. :frown:
-
Damn. Hope everything gets better, WC.
-
Thanks, Townie. Unfortunately it hasn't. Mrs Wacky just called me and they eliminated her position at work. WHAT THE eff?! If you know of anyone who needs a senior marketing rep, please let me know. What an unreal 24 hours.
-
Good grief life, leave my boy wackycat08 alone

Thanks!

And it's cancer for mom. They can't remove it right now, for fear of it bleeding out. Taking a break guys. Go cats.

Thinking about ya Wacky.

She goes under the knife tomorrow morning. Thanks for all the well wishes and texts. She seems in good spirits, but it's definitely a risky surgery. Sorry, hospitals suck, hard not to pass time. She has a tumor on her pancreas. This won't be easy.
