Unless I have to work that weekend, I should be in Morgantown for the Cats visit this year, and was wondering if there were any gE'ers I need to find!
Seriously, would be cool to meet any of you making it over to the Mountain State this year...
-
Does Morgantown have an airport I can fly into or will I need to fly into Pittsburgh and drive down?

Man, that's kind of a deal breaker for me. Would love to go but sounds like way too much work

Chiefs are playing at the steelers on Sunday night football the next day.

renting a car and driving a total of two hours sounds like a lot of work?
-
Yes
-
I'm going to Morgantown this year. The four hour drive from DC won't be bad. Also going to that Pittsburgh vs Kansas City game!
-
I have an uncle who is a huge WV fan. From there, can play the banjo and has a 'coon fur hat and everything. Really wants us to go to a game there sometime. Maybe we can make it happen this year!

anyone planning to hit the road this year? I THINK I JUST MIGHT DO IT! Iowa State seems the likeliest candidate:
1) close
2) have not been
3) high probability of a win
Anyone else going to this game or other games?
-
I'm going to the TCU game for sure, haven't thought about others yet
-
I'll see ya there cdub. maybe follow a brother back on Twitter first tho. Smdh.

You poor sob

Stanford is a definite and OU is a probable. Other trips will be a gametime decision.

best chance at a road win!
-
McLane is the only stadium in the Big XII I haven't seen a game in, so I may go to that one next year, especially since tickets are bound to be dirt cheap and we might win.
-
Will be in attendance @Baylor and @TCU. Maybe if we get a group together, AST will cook for us in Ft. Worth? Would take.

Not sure if their renovations have changed anything, but when I was there 4 years ago their sound distribution was the worst of any stadium I've ever been to. Just blared extremely loud from one end pretty much. Also, their video board setup above their football complex looks like a WWE stage. Zero redeeming qualities about Jack Trice

By that criteria, isu is a clear-cut choice. But I think you should raise your standards.

I've been to every school in the Big 12, minus wvu, KK. Here's how I'd rank this years roadies, with scratching out #3 & #1 on your list.
1. Stanford- Wow! Cali!
2. WVU- New territory. Moonshine and stuff.
3. TCU- Ft. Worth. Lots to do.
4. OU- Open beer container laws. A cool party area. Elite stadium. Negative- Almost getting blowen up by a bomb.
5. ISU- MIR is there. Decent party seen, but that's about it.
6. Baylor- Dog crap place. 2 bars in thee entire town. Depressing crap hole.

where did you see the party at?
-
ISU i'm assuming? I went to a frat, where I knew someone from when I lived in Sioux City. Also, in 2006, we ran into a O.A.R. concert in some random dive bar. It was the craziest thing.

Take a weekend vacation somewhere fun on whatever weekend works; nix the football.
-
Henry Doorly Zoo it is!
-
If you are serious about it tho, kk. I'd say OU. You could even stay in OKC if you wanted to. Within decent driving distance.
-
Being at the game in Norman when we beat them is pretty fun.

Thats how bad it is, that its even worse than BSFS

5. ISU- MIR is there. Decent party seen, but that's about it.
6. Baylor- Dog crap place. 2 bars in thee entire town. Depressing crap hole.
Both of these are awful. Been to Baylor twice but both before McLane stadium. Thats the only reason I'd ever go back. No reason to return to Ames again
-
ames is pretty bad, but des moines is great. kk-let me know if you want to old fashioned road trip this thing with your boy rd.
-
Yeah, if I was to rank my top 10 for the Big 12, it would go:
1. Texas
2. WVU
3. TCU
4. OU
5. Oklahoma St
6. KU
7. ISU
8. Tech
9. Baylor
-
also, earlier I was attempted to make a :D at the whole seen/scene thing. looks like I failed.

no it isn't. i've been to the last 2 games in Ames, and it isn't anywhere near as bad as our sound system.

Sound system was replaced in 2011, and again in 2015.

My personal:
1. UT
2. TCU
3. KU
4. OU
Have not been to the rest.
-
Yeah, save your $ then. WVU is too far based off your list of demands. ISU and Baylor don't deserve your hard earned $.
-
Henry Doorly Zoo it is!
just did that, I am sure SD has you up to speed on protips but my advice is the best stuff is the in the buildings (Aquarium, Rain Forrest building, the alligators in the basement of the dome) and the outside stuff is pretty meh.
I won't waste a nice weather weekend on it again but will probably return for one of those rando long weekends when the kids don't have school.
Also, the Courtyard downtown has a pretty good location (the Local Bar across the street has like 25 NE brewed taps :sdeek: and 4 foot tall Connect 4 along the wall) but the actual hotel is well worn.
I would do the Hilton Garden Inn next door if only for the fact it has a hot tub and the Courtyard does not.

Went on what ended up being a rainy Saturday and we did the aquarium, which was fantastic, and the dome.
Went to the science museum too because of the rain and it was really good for the kids.

WVU is the only one I haven't been to, but I suspect it's rated two spots too high for this list. And KU has to be lower, even given it's proximity to KC. But otherwise a very solid list.

here's my list.
1. WVU
2. Texas
3. OU
4 TCU
5. OSU
6. ISU
7. KU
8. Tech
haven't experienced Baylor

It's weird that you guys aren't noting that I'm going to be @TCU and @BU.

The sound is much much worse at ISU, part of the issue was because their stadium was so open. No idea if it's better now, guess I'll find out.

O-ver-rated clap clap clapclapclap

des moines is great
Yep.
Pretty decent chance I will not be living in the sticks this fall.
