Title: hail
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on June 27, 2016, 12:38:39 PM
a vehicle I own got hit with a little bit of hail the other week. so I said oh what the hail ( ;)) and filed a claim. guess who's now getting a check for 4k? man what a country we live in. I advise you all to file claims as well and then we can throw a big party together and booze w/ our hail dollars.

its not like RD got in a head on crash he caused with a hail truck. it fell out of the sky on his car. why should insurance punish him for the weather?

I'm pretty sure this isn't true but I've been so busy partying 24/7 since I found out that I haven't really researched it. fix the small dents that it caused, you ask? hail ( ;)) no.

AmFam has a system where they pay the place directly.  My hail damage from a couple months ago was actually really bad and it cost $7,000 to fix and they would only pay the people directly.  Any way to avoid this the next time?  Ask to go to an non-recommended shop so they have to cut a check?

If you don't have a lien on the vehicle, then you can request that they pay you.

If you have a lien, you can sometimes negotiate with the lien holder to have the hail check applied to your loan on the vehicle.

It is.  I filed hail claims on my two vehicles that were in the driveway when we got hail a couple months ago.  Got a $3k check for a car worth about $3k and need to schedule the repair on the other vehicle.  The $3k car is paid off.  The other car isn't.

you know what I want to do now?

I want to buy another car with my hail money that I'm about to get and then track the weather and drive to a hail storm and get that new car hailed on big time and then get another hail check and party even more with that money and then double down again and rinse, wash, repeat. compound interest my hail dollars if you guys catch my drift.

another thought....

it's called a business and the business is that I take your car and get it hailed on and then I take 10% of the hail dollars.

here's the best part of this business though...you get the other 90% and you didn't even have to get off the couch.  :surprised:

I'll be honest, and I'm a little embarrassed here, but my car has been hailed on more times than I can count and I've never even thought of making a claim.

I had AmFam when my car got hailed on and they just paid me, then I sold the vehicle without fixing.

1)no it hasn't. it's only been hailed on once.
2)call them now and tell them that.

----OR------

3)hire my firm (company?) to call them for you and tell them that and I will only take 3% of the money that I win for you. you don't get paid? I don't get paid.

September I had a hail claim on my car. It totaled out my vehicle and I still had a small lien on it at the time. I got over $3k and also got my lien paid off as well as being able to keep my car.
Win, win, win. No windows busted out or anything so I just drive around with it having some hail damage. Bonus y-l_a's dad does paintless dent repair and will fix it for me when I get ready to sell the car.

Protip for you RD, ask your current insurance carrier if they give a discount for Impact Resistant shingles.
