Here are some hand signals you'll want to know before you participate in a group ride.

I would get one of these, but probably not regular bike.  I think this would be much safer and would probably keep other motorcyclists from wanting to pack up, which would also be ideal.  I would essentially want ppl to think I was inferior to them so they wouldn't be those lame ppl who want to stop and talk to you about your bike, wouldn't want to constantly waive at me, etc.

I like to wear a helmet on the highway because I don't like all that wind in my face. The closest I've come to wrecks with cars were on city streets, not the highway.

The ppl who ride on the backs of a motorcycle driver are the weirdest. There's no rough ridin' way i'm trusting anyone, on a death trap, without myself controlling it.

If you are riding on the back of the driver, that is pretty dangerous.

For you KC folk, I took this class at JCCC back in 2011 and it was excellent. Friday night and all day Saturday and they provide bikes and gear if you don't own it. Instructor was top-notch and knew his stuff!

It doesn't have fairings. Also, some (probably not all) seem to be more upright so there is less weight on your hands.

Hard Rock shirts are even worse.  Also, it absolutely has to do with Harley even though its not exclusive to them.

So I didn't post the story, at least in the last thread that we did this in, but the main motorcycle takeaway was there.

Maybe luked, but I was in a motorcycle convention in the Superdome once and it took me a bit to connect why there were so many people rolling around in wheelchairs.

Motorcycle people are so weird

Yeah they are, but riding one looks so fun
The ppl who ride on the backs of a motorcycle driver are the weirdest. There's no rough ridin' way i'm trusting anyone, on a death trap, without myself controlling it.

After I get some things nailed down finance wise through the middle part of this year, I'm leaning towards buying a moto style bike (The Ducati Hypermotard 939 in particular).

I would absolutely love to have an old Indian or Triumph.  I think it would be good therapy to jump on it after a shitty day at work and ride for an hour or so.  Also, I wouldn't mind an Enduro especially with our impending move to the country.

If you are considering buying a motorcycle and don't have any experience riding them you should consider taking a class. After the class, you don't have to take the motorcycle license test, you just take the paper from the class to the Driver's License office and they give you (for a fee) a license with 'M' class on it.

https://motorcyclelessonswichita.com/
https://www.msf-usa.org/

For you KC folk, I took this class at JCCC back in 2011 and it was excellent. Friday night and all day Saturday and they provide bikes and gear if you don't own it. Instructor was top-notch and knew his stuff!

http://www.jccc.edu/academics/transportation/motorcycle-training/tab-ce.html

Deputy Dawg took this course as well.  If you're going to ride instead of operate a motorcycle, this is a must.

Also, no discussion of standards (vs. cruiser vs. touring vs. sport).  Standards are throwbacks, and the tits.

I wish I could afford an upgrade right now. Picking up my '98 Monster 750 from the shop today. Hopefully it makes it through the season and I can get a good deal this winter on a bike with at least fuel injectors.

that is likely a 400cc that will definitely struggle to get you and a passenger up to highway speeds.  I guess Honda did make a 750 cc auto that you could look for but honestly just learn to operate a clutch.

I assume you have at least tried to drive a standard in a car but know that almost all motorcycle clutches are easier and almost infinitely more durable than a what is in most cars.

I did the msf course thru KCKCC in the 90s.  At that time, it was held in the old driver's ed room at Turner HS and we rode all over KCK (very fun, lots of cool old backroads).

I imagine this is the same thing and you can't beat learning to ride on someone else's bike for $225.  https://kansascity.augusoft.net/index.cfm?method=ClassInfo.ClassInformation&int_class_id=14346&int_category_id=3&int_sub_category_id=135&int_catalog_id=0 (https://kansascity.augusoft.net/index.cfm?method=ClassInfo.ClassInformation&int_class_id=14346&int_category_id=3&int_sub_category_id=135&int_catalog_id=0)

Yeah. It clearly used to have a purse basket attached in front of the handlebars, but the owner must have either broken it or taken it apart.
