Guys, its not so bad, think of how good the Big 12 is going to be next year? 9 of the 10 Big 12 coaches will be coming into the season straight from playing in the NCAA tournament, this year. Nine out of ten! That has to be some kind of record! Thats practically, and even statistically the same as, everyone! Wow!

Yes. Also, cam up.

Do the thing where you sneak into his office when he's not there and turn all the lights out and then sit in his chair and when he comes in you'll be sitting in his chair but it's dark so he doesn't know and then he turns the lamp on and you're sitting there and it freaks him out and he's all like "wtf!"
-
If he isn't there, get on his email and fire oscar.

So Timothy Everson reads gE. :horrorsurprise:

People can evolve. Especially college kids. Everson's last two "big" articles have been great. (The prior one was about the sportsmanship debacle around the KU game in mhk)

Meh, families disagree all the time. The use of this analogy to mean "we all agree all the time" is the big mistake fans have made.
Also, K-State sports will be back. Its a down time and things look bleak for the moment, but good times will return.

I think it was less a comment about "disagreement" and more about the cavalier dismissive nature that has pervaded the Currie/Schulz administration.

Definitely. I just got side tracked with another comment about our fans and their silly use of this family analogy.

I thought he was being cynical about the "family" stuff but maybe not.

Yeah, you are right. I sped through it the first time, he says it well here:
People don’t enjoy being ignored. I think disagreeing is one thing, but ignoring the anger and frustration that a fairly vocal majority has placed in the past week doesn’t sit well. The message that it sends is not one of “Family,” something any K-State fan has had drilled in their head for quite sometime now.
What it does send is this: If you’re just a fan, or a large collection of fans, your voice is just not expensive or important enough to be listened to. In a world where money is considered both speech and power, the average everyday K-State fan will get as much done yelling at a wall than they will tweeting their frustrations.
-
I get Snyder's use of Family. Whoever took it from there and ran with it is probably the same moron behind Ecocat.
If KSU is a family, these two are Schultz and Currie...

Here's the thing with the "family" BS. When you're on the team, its a great way to motivate and remind your teammates that you're in this together. You're working towards a goal, and you don't quit on one another, just like a family. However when its drilled into the heads of fans that we are family because we like the same sports team, that's weird and frankly creepy.
-
I'd add that if you think that Snyder is more sincere about family than Shulz and Currie, you've been duped.
-

sincerity in that issue means little to me.

It was mentioned in that family article and echoed in this thread.
-
I hope at the OSU game next year the fans (especially the students) flip the script, and cheer and act like OSU is the home team and yell during offensive possessions. And chant during sandstorm BRING BACK BRAD instead of eff ku.
-

Sincerity wise?
Yes.
As a motivational and teambuilding tool?
He absolutely believes in it.
So Snyder completely believes in family, but it starts as a means to build a good football team. Almost every other coach using family (tons) does so for the same reason.
Buy for fans, yeah it's dumb.

Round 2 of this will be during the spring game but don't forget to attend tomorrow from 11-2.

Highlights.
Dude on 610AM this morning said an on campus protest is being organized for this Thursday. I didn't catch if the protest is just for basketball, or K-State sports in general.
I have heard this as well. It will fall on deaf ears.
Agreed, but a protest ain't no joke.
All power to them. Currie will just sit in his office and smirk.
I'm guessing Nero won't even acknowledge the burning village all around him.
Basketball lives matter
I think everybody pretty well agrees that Currie is giving oscar one more year regardless of how many twitter messages, emails or protests there are. In my opinion, all those things are going to do is alienate our current players and recruits and potential recruits. I wish it would all stop and just let oscar have his year. I think enough has been said already and there is no way Currie will give oscar another year after next unless there is significant improvement. Just my opinion.
It's only going to feed his ego even more.
Trim!
Catbacker functions are going to be fun.
I'm sure President Shulz will have some unprofessional sarcastic remark.
Response to the catbacker remark
Pfft! It'll be the same back-slapping Pumpers that always go to these events. Currie could execute an alum at one of those events, and they'd tell him how proud they were to have him as a K-Stater afterwards ......
A protest would be hilarious, pointless but hilarious to see the admin's reaction. Burn it down and cleanse the program
I don't expect much. It will likely fizzle out fast. I'm not convinced KSU fans have the fortitude to stand up to this. We seem to have the tendency to whine and then roll over for the athletic dept. We'll see.
Just make sure there is no booing and the atmosphere is very friendly. We have a reputation to uphold.
A sports protest should really help recruiting! What kid wouldn't want to go to a school that protests sports!
The reality is, right now is a downright tough time for KSU entirely. A lot of it has to do with the overall State situation, but we really need leadership and vision from our department, college and University leadership. It can't just be speech and press release talking points about what kind of University we want to be, it has to be the kind of leadership that can connect with people and students. We need leadership to address real issues and be honest about this being a tough time across the University, athletics included. Use their leadership to bring together faculty, a passionate fan base, alumni and students into the kind of family that can come together to get through adversity.
That appears to be sorely lacking when we need it most, twitter is NOT a method of leadership. Social media is actually the opposite of really dealing with people and issues face to face...
There's a crap tone more. Saying how this will look bad for the university, etc. Sorry Winters, two pages over there, is like a 10 page thread here, except with nude gifs
-
So let me get this straight. A recruit, say being recruited by this staff is supposed to want to come to a school where they are openly calling for the head coach to be fired because he doesn't bring in enough talent and can't coach. So the recruit is then basically being told that he isn't good enough because the current staff can't evaluate talent? Protesting this makes no sense and will simply make us look dumber in the eyes of almost anyone not on Wabash. I understand people are angry, but protesting your AD and basketball coach? And thinking recruits will see that as a positive and what to come compete?!?! Pull your head out of your ass.
-
Spoiled kids protesting basketball... that will be so impactful.
-
Protests over this are pretty silly IMO.
