I am a registered Republican. I Don't know who I am supporting yet. State your case/Ask me anything.
-
have you ever caucused before?
-
Republicans are evil.
-
What is involved? I thought you had to have a position to start from?
-
have you ever caucused before?
I caucused as a Democrat in '08 for Obama. But now I am older and not a socialist any more LOL that is what they say.
-
Are you more interested in supporting a potential winner or the candidate you believe is best for the job?
-
Republicans are evil.
I think steve dave and I are unicorn hunting Republicans and don't believe this but confronting this reality might be something that I do this election season.
-

Republicans do it by secret ballot, I have never caucused for republican party before and just perused the rules so not really sure.
-

that is what they say alright!
would you consider supporting trump in the caucus or are you a never trump'r?
-

Well, I think I should balance that. The candidate that is not able to do the job because they can't be elected probably would not be the best for the job I suppose.
I am likely between Rubio and Kasich due to process of elimination. Mostly going to hear what Trump/Cruz people say so I can be properly terrified about this election and be ready to pull the lever for Hillary if need be.
-
How big is your caucus?
-
I'm going to caucus for Kasich. It's probably a waste of time, but I can't stand Trump or Cruz, so it's not like there is a potential winner I can vote for.
-
How big is your caucus?
sadly will probably not be the biggest one there.
-
I'm going to caucus for Kasich. It's probably a waste of time, but I can't stand Trump or Cruz, so it's not like there is a potential winner I can vote for.
Rubio? I don't know. Kasich is the best candidate for me too, but my goodness he can't win in any scenario. Rubio needs a great debate performance tonight for me to try to ride that ship in to harbor.

I think Kasich is more likely to win Ohio than Rubio is to win Florida. At that point, maybe Rubio drops out and Kasich stays in. :dunno:
-
You guys really need to advocate for a brokered convention.
-
What made you switch parties?
-
Really, every Kansan should register republican if you care at all about offices like US Senate and the state legislature.
-
What made you switch parties?
I am a registered republican because there are actual primaries to vote in at state/local level that are much more important to me than national elections.
-
I just requested my republican primary mail ballot!
-
I just requested my republican primary mail ballot!
Call me a racist, but one reason I like Kasich is he is almost as WASPy as Obama, yet is also not a WASP!

do rubio. kasich is already mathematically eliminated (not really but you know).

Rubio is so pathetic but I think this is the option I am leaning toward.

obviously there's not good option. but he's the best of the viable (even though he's barely viable at this point) options left.
-
do kasich. pretty much the only way to keep trump out is for kasich to win ohio. rubio cannot win ohio and if trump takes ohio, he's very likely to win the nomination outright.
so give kasich as much from kansas as you can to encourage him along.
also do it because you said he's your favored candidate and voting for a non-favored candidate because they are more likely to win is such Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), magical thinking that it makes me want to round you all up and shoot you.
-
I seriously doubt any Kasich supporters would go to Trump if Kasich were to drop out, so as long as Rubio is a viable candidate a vote for Kasich is practically supporting either Cruz or Trump by cutting into Rubio's margin.
-
I'm sad

Absolutely hate that logic as well
Aspie bros

Rubio is 20 points behind in Florida. He has no chance at even winning his own state.
-

some definitely would. it would be a pretty big proportion too. i saw some old numbers, back when the field was huge, that were like 24% of kasich supporters would go to rubio as their 2nd choice, 16% would go to trump. i haven't seen more recent numbers with the reduced field, but i'd guess it'd be in the region of 25-33%. i haven't seen numbers, but i'd expect that not many would go to cruz.
-
as a caveat to my kasich in ks argument - i haven't seen any polls/predictions for ks. if rubio has a realistic chance of getting any delegates in ks, then go rubio. if not, go kasich.
i assume he doesn't. but if he does.
-
never mind. just looked up the kansas delegate rules, and you only need 10% to qualify for delegates. so rubio is the smarter play.
-
The priority should be to get to a brokered convention. That means stealing as many delegates from Trump as possible in the non-winner take all states and throwing maximum support behind the most likely to win candidates in the winner take all ones.
-

Also 3 of them are winner take all. Kasich isn't a poor decision since it will still likely take delegates away from Trump, unless he doesn't hit the 10% threshold then it is a really poor decision. I guess it depends on if you think Rubio can actually get enough delegates to win on the first vote.
It doesn't look like Kasich is likely to crack 10% in Kansas. I guess I might vote Rubio and hope he drops out after Florida or something. Voting for the guy I don't like the most really goes against how I usually do things, though.
-
kasich probably isn't going to get 10% in kansas and rubio isn't going to get 1237 delegates. kasich might get to 10% in some district, but i didn't look deeply enough into the rules to see if that would entitle him to any delegates. i don't think it would be kk's district, anyways, because iirc, my father is always bitching about how manhattan got shackled to some western ks district somehow.
-
Do you tell him that manhattan IS in western KS?
-

Yeah this was my thinking.

Do whatever you can to keep Donald Drumpf from getting the nomination.

Report?
-
well, I did not actually do this. apologies.
-
Caucused in Shawnee. Line was 2 hours long. Trump signs all over the place and a few Cruz signs. Got inside and there were tables for Trump and Kasich and Rubio but no table advertising Cruz.
Three votes for Cruz from us.
Old lady behind us had Parkinsons and was not comfortable at all standing in line but turned down a provisional ballot which would have allowed her to go home and her vote would be counted later in the week. She said she was afraid her vote would not be counted. Her and the middle age folks behind her were fed up with what the Democrats have done to the country.
17% of returns in: Cruz 50% Trump 26% Rubio 14%.
-
Democrats :curse:

Unreal

Phew :woot:

when trump's greyshirts are rounding up dissenters, you will have no one to blame but yourself.

Ted Cruz is currently at 50% in Kansas :sdeek: What's the matter with Kansas indeed.

maybe they are voting strategically. rubio in florida, kasich in ohio, cruz in kansas.

Cruz crushing it in Maine so far as well...

Looks like Fox News got the job done.

AP calls Kansas for Cruz. 54% right now with 49% reporting. Polls this week had Trump up by 8%. I got polled twice and lied both times.
-
Cruz crushing it in Maine so far as well...
Uh, he's up by less than 200 votes with 5% of the votes in.
-
I got polled twice and lied both times.
good job, ptolemy.

Thanks. It is every voter's duty to do whatever they can to preserve the value of voting on election day. Polls are designed only to discourage election day participation.
-
i'm obviously a big fan of encouraging election day participation too, ptolemy

I just dumped the.trump litter box that my cats use to make tributes to the Donald. Good.to see him do poorly in Kansas, but worry about turd dumps he flies over.
-
I'm more disappointed in cruz winning ks that trump winning anything. Like come on ks... Cruz? Good grief

Romney won the CPAC Straw Poll in '12 and also Maine. Cruz won CPAC and is ahead in Maine.

NEVER underestimate the electoral power of pissed-off old people.
-
Orange Julius Caeser never had a chance.
-
Well literally everyone voting in a republican primary is a pissed off old person
-
Will Kasich break the 10% mark?
no, and it's amazing it's even close. rubio is just getting murdered.

Kansas produces the most amount of idiots per capita.
-
I ended up voting Kasich. He got 1 delegate!
kansas will be able to rub this in the fat faces of the conservotard states that gave him zero delegates.
-
Just FYI, the "old" people in line at the caucus had hearty laughs at the stories of the millennials they all knew and the idiotically uninformed way that they look at life today.
-
yup, that sounds like old people :blah:

Where do I claim that times don't change? I simply made an observation about how the world looks at millennials.

No, you made an observation about how millennials look at the world. Acting as if you always think the way you have.

Your implied association with the conversation confirms you have the same feeling. I know you're old as the earth and feel the same way, you wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true.
