Title: DO NOT FALL INTO TRAP OF ROOTING FOR TCU AND TECH!
Post by: Pete on February 28, 2016, 08:31:09 AM
Obviously we have locked up 8th place in the conference, with the 7th place team having twice as many wins as us.

But we have an opportunity to make this a truly shitty season if we lose the next two against TCU and Tech and finish was low as 9th or tied for last.   That might tempt most of you to root for TCU and Tech, because I know most of you despise oscar Weber and will cling to any chance you perceive of getting him fired.

However, since we have a gutless, self-serving, egotistical AD with an inferiority complex, that will not happen if we lose the next two games.

Instead, losing the next two games will ensure that we have a bad enough to season THIS year to provide an opportunity to "IMPROVE" next year and thus provide "reason" to keep Weber around for a 6th year or more.  This would ensure years more apathy and disdain for KSU athletics.

So, as much as you would love to see KSU lose the next two games, do NOT fall into the trap of rooting against KSU.  You should hope we win the next two, guarantee our 8th place finish, and rest assured we can do no better than that next year.

This is what it means to be a Kansas State Basketball fan.  It's doing the hard things.

Pete this is a royals blog now and has been for quite some time now.  Basketball was murdered and is never coming back.

Solid logic.  I promise to at least not root against us.

there's still a part of me that thinks currie could make the right call this year pete. I know the evidence points against it but he painted himself in a corner with that trajectory comment when he fired deb. he would look like some kind of huge misogynistic piece of crap if he let oscar drive the program into the ground harder than deb did and give him yet another season. that really doesn't change if we win or lose these last games though, the equal or worse trajectories are assured either way. do you guys think that I'm putting too much confidence in currie? I just don't think he's that awful of a human being.

have you guys seen what brad underwood's record is this year? I haven't checked but I assume his trajectory isn't any better than oscar's since he was begging for this job and didn't get it and obviously he'd take the job at this very moment.

Won't the Cats have a higher draft pick in the league if they finish last?  :ksu:

It's a tough call.....win the next two and then maybe the 8/9 game....then lose a close one to KU.....would give even the worst propaganda machine enough to say we're on the "right track".  I suppose there's the whole "give someone enough rope to hang themselves" thing.  So yeah, I agree with Pete.  Get to 17/18-15 (6-12).....in the toughest league every assembled.....which means next year we'd HAVE to show improvement because the league won't be that good and Stokes hopefully recovers (though, I mean, everyone knows the year after surgery is the toughest, so chalk up next year to basically not having Stokes at 100%).

Currie fired a woman and hired a man, to coach women's basketball

yeah, already under the microscope for this. and then to let a man get away with the exact thing he fired that woman for? I just don't see it happening. we need to be an inclusive and fair employer.

Probably not the place for this but Tech is only a game out of no Wednesdays. It isn't likely to happen for them because ISU hosts OSU and Tech goes to WVU but it's something to watch; I guess.

Who cares about his record, he is an NCAA upset from passing KSU and South Carolina in Kenpom.

you have to root for tech, it's an important game for them.  it could move their seed significantly.

I have no idea of what to cheer for with this team.  Pete's argument is solid

I know I am cheering for Brad.

I'm gonna root so hard for TCU and Tech! Especially TCU. If we lose to them, oh man.

Today's twitter discussion has me throwing caution to the wind.  We lose the next two, or we lose brad to osu.

rooting for tcu is a fool's game.  they cannot win.  you're just asking for heartache.

The heart wants what the heart wants.  upon reflection, I am not going to ask people to go against their conscience.   They know oscar Weber losses are the touchstone of K-State basketball growth for the future.

I think he would Bob Huggins his way to K-State a year later. Then the circle would be complete.

You don't think osu sees that and would put something in the contract to protect themselves?

Honestly, I had no idea we were this bad. I thought maybe like 5th or 6th. The strategy of making everyone not care about basketball is looking pretty good now.

If oscar loses to this TCU team at home, he should be fired after the handshake line.

TCU is a solid team and would be in the tourney if they were in another conference which would mean we were in another conference and we'd probably both be tourney teams and that wouldn't be a bad loss because we really played pretty good basketball but a few of the guys can't make shots when it matters and I can't shoot for them and if they would've executed a little better it would've been a great win especially if we were in another conference and working on our seeding with more on the line but we aren't so hopefully because we're so young this was a good learning experience and we can build off of it moving forward.

I simply ask that TCU purposely take shot clock violations at the end of the game so as to not upset Oscar.

I agree.  I am curious as to what is the appropriate time remaining in a game to make sure you start eating the ball against us.  Does it depend on how bad we are losing?

I thought Deb got fired for having sex with her players.

oscar does not appear to be susceptible to this shortcoming, largely due to the player revulsion factor.
