Title: Encounter with a former governor
Post by: Canary on February 21, 2016, 09:23:53 AM
I just had a cup of coffee and great conversation with former Governor Sebelius. Anyone have encounters with politicians to share?

I've never told anyone this before, but I was once walking directly behind Jeb Bush and he opened a door, saw I was going the same way, and allowed me to go through first as he stood there holding the door open. That was WHILE he was governor.

Fmr Gov. John Carlin works at Kstate and I have encountered him a number of times.  He is a charmer.

A friend of mine bumped into Marco Rubio at a Des Moines coffee shop two months ago and his girlfriends first response was to say "wow you really are short".

Shook hands with Mitt Romney at a Ramona, CA, 7-11 store last year. He and his boys were on there way to the desert to go dirt biking. They were in a rental RV towing their motorcycles.

I was lucky enough to attend her inauguration and dinner and reception. It was a pleasure to meet her then and to run into her again today.
I also attended the college World Series years ago and sat with then- Governor Finney.

She seems like a flat out horrible person.  Judging from her twitter, and her vote and meeting absence from her previous gig, all she seems to do in washington is tweet a bunch of my team/your team bullshit.  I don't think she does any actual governing.

I got several emails from Rudy Giuliani. We worked on a project together that my company was a contractor for. Unfortunately it was the real Rudy's nephew.  Also spoke on the phone with one of the Rockefeller granddaughters.

yeah I don't know anything about her politics but could tell pretty quickly that I would irl strongly dislike her based on a very brief convo and thirty minute tour that I had to help guide her on.

Reasonable guess, but I was not there as a page.  I vaguely remember going up there with my grandfather for something so it was definitely my grandma who dictated that I should wear a suit.

Yeah, she put her heals on my shoulder press row at the sprint center, to get on the court to congratulate the squawks for their big 12 championship. She gave two fucks how she was getting there too.  :dubious:
