Perhaps the 1st half run came later and the margin got a little smaller than expected in the 2nd half, but this is what we do in AFH. Turnovers, poor shooting, giving up tons of run outs during key stretches. It is what it is.
But honestly the close losses that we should have won are much, much more frustrating than losing to KU in Lawrence. I suppose I've just become numb to it.
-
We boarded the eff out of those losers
-
lol, this is not usually my thing but puffdad on the scout board is having a major meltdown
He really liked Iowa. And his parents loved Iowa. And they have a lot of white players. Having known Dean and his recruitment, I have watched Iowa a lot this year. Impressive and it would be a great fit for Dean.
gets better (= worse) from there

TOr higher than FTr, hot

i thought puffdad was his father.

I love the "white players" comment.
I hate us, I hate us a lot.
-
I didn't watch the game, and I didn't expect us to keep it within 8-10 pts.
It was nice to see us not get blitzed the first 10:00 of the game and be down 20-8 or something. And it was pleasantly surprising we were down 45-43 despite not playing real well to that point.
But another broken record.... last 10:00 of the 1st half and a 8:30 stretch in the 2nd half, we combined to have 18 TOs in 36 Possessions while compiling a 0.47 PPP and letting KU go on 29-11 and 22-6 runs.
-
It's not really a racial thing because they pass the ball to Budke plenty.
nailed his ass.
-
^yea, but Budke's clearly some kind of an ethnic with those eyebrows
-
I really enjoyed Jon Barry calling the game. It was interesting to have a different perspective. Having Fran is always good.

Anything that leads to less of Brent Musburger opining on the topic of the day is fine by me. On a related note, can he actually even see any more? He's always misidentifying players.

I haven't watched too many games this season. Mostly bits here and there. Apathy is close to fully setting in for both mbb and fball. The most discouraging thing is hearing people (fans, announcers) talk about the bright future of this young bball team, while the fball program slowly drifts back out into choppy waters.
It's gross.
Makes me realize how good we had it for awhile.

I've tried to watch a few games, and I realized when Stokes was out that I couldn't think of a single thing of note he had done. Don't know if that says more about my apathy or how much the team sucks.

puffdad is a treat. someone tried to convince me that he was a sock...

I don't understand what's going on with Dean. You can only blame sickness for so long. Kid started out strong and now is regressing to the point of bust level. Yes, I know he's a freshman, but he was a non-factor once again

It's not hard to understand Joey. They won't throw him the ball. Too bad he didn't go with his second choice of Iowa.

i've seen a couple talking points after last night's game:
1. our guys actually played pretty tough
2. this is one of self's worst teams
we lost by 18. if those talking points are true, what does it say about the state of k-state basketball?
-
we don't have the experience or talent to beat an average ku team with little NBA talent.
-
I really hate to say this but the officiating there is terrible.
Not that we are getting bogus calls but that it absolutely doesn't go both ways.
That doesn't cost games but prevents them from ever being really competitive.

"Tough" is relative.
K-State fans are used to being blitzed to start both halves against KU. We were ahead 18-10 after 10 minutes and outscored them 16-8 in the first 8 minutes of the 2nd.
But KU outscored us 29-11 in the last 10 min of the first and 30-14 in the last 12 minutes of the game.
So yeah.
As far as KU being "bad", that's simply not true right now. They currently rated are about the same as they were the past two seasons. This team will probably finish slightly worse, but will be a "bad" KU team that still finishes in the top 20. They aren't having a Coach K level drop off this year.
-
The score didn't get out of hand until late, when oscar and the rest of the team had gave up and quit "competing."
-
i dunno. last night was just more of the same frustrating crap, but no one wins at AFH so it's not worth melting down over. i do actually think we can beat OU on saturday.

My vote would be apathy. Stokes has contributed more positively than negatively, which is impressive for a frosh starting PG.

And how exactly can we beat OU?
-
The only shot we have at OU is getting Buddy in foul troubs.
-
I feel better about beating KU at home than I do OU. OU is the better team.
-
I am sure we can beat them. We'll have a fairly major upset or two before the season's over.

I thought Dean started off very strong in the first ten minutes of the game, contributing in many ways even though he wasn't getting touches he probably should get on this squad. I'm a bit surprised that Dean is getting negative reactions from fans, given that he's a frosh from Saint John who is going through the rigors of his first conference season. Dean's got to get in better shape, from what I can see he tires too quickly when matched up against most conference bigs. On a well balanced roster we wouldn't expect Dean to battle some of the bigs he has to. Overall though, dude is skilled and learning. I think things are looking up for him.

That's probably true. Given oscar's track record, it is likely that we'll beat at least one of them. Our only really poor home effort was against Iowa State.

Feeding the flames of tuck's everywhere who continue to discuss our tournament chances when we sit at 2-7 in conference.

Yes, fans that are negative toward Dean are dumb.

this came up in chat, so i looked it up. kstate fans are just accustomed to the amazingly consistent excellence that ku has had recently (and really for most of our lifetimes). this last three year run of ku teams ranked 12th (2014), 14th (2015) and 12th (currently, but, imo, more likely to go down than up) actually is historically bad for them, although it would be very good for most teams. you have to go back to 2004 (16th) and 2005 (13th) to find ku teams out of the top 10 and there is no comparable three year run in kenpom's era.
-
Every time Dean shoots I think it is going in, even though 57% of the time he proves me wrong.
And LOL at the Iowa stuff... He is playing 27 min per game and averaging nearly a 10 & 6. He wouldn't have half of those totals if he was playing behind Uthoff.

Good point. Relative to the expectations Self established from 06-13 they are worse. I'm guessing they'll finish between 15-20 this year.
-
They are worse because they have no lottery picks and little to no nba ready talent
