Title: best/favorite kstate athlete of all time
Post by: Dr Rick Daris on January 30, 2016, 04:30:52 PM
bish was at the game today and it got me thinking. couldn't figure out whether he or pullen was #1. finally decided that it's close and maybe a tie and then a very dramatic drop off after those two. thoughts?

I was only casually a ksu fan when Bish played, so of Bish/Pullen, its Pullen. But for me really its Sproles.

this board is a double edged sword. the plus is that joke and pranksters abound. the flip side of the sword is that people don't take conversations like this seriously and throw out guys other than bishop and/or pullen when talk about best ever comes up. i guess you just have to take the good with the bad around here.

fine if that's the way you want it Rick Darris. i change my vote to Darren Kent for basketball and Carlos Alsup for football.

if you take away the word favorite you can limit the voting however you see fit. but favorite is subjective.

Michael rough ridin' Bishop put us on a stage we've never ever seen before. I like basketball and all, but football is the horses dick of college athletics. He helped make Snyder, Snyder!

of course it's subjective. that's why there is a poll. you can chose either bishop OR pullen as your favorite kstate athelete of all time/ever.

Probably Pullen.  I was in school at the same time Pullen was and living through that on campus and stuff was amazing.  I get chills thinking about all the games in the student section during Pullens career and how awesome it was.

Have to go Sproles here, though Bishop and Roberson were a close second. Chad May was under center when we began winning, but he's not the best or my favorite.

Bishop. It was sad we only got Bishop for 2 seasons, but he in K-State lore is responsible for getting us on the most realistic verge of winning a national title. And we would have won it had the end of that one game not happened. I say all that, and I love Jacob Pullen.

Surprised no mention of Mitch. A #1 is difficult, but Mitch, Bish, Jake, Denis, AB, and Darren are a pretty amazing group of 6.

Between those 2, I'd lean towards Bishop because it feels like he was more of an exceptional star of his team, especially if you isolate the offense.

I don't think Pullen was on Bishop's level compared to the rest of the field. Bishop was definitely one of the top few QBs in the nation. Pullen was something more like maybe a top 10ish guard.

Beas is easily 2, after the 1a /1b scenario.  Then jamar, curt, bill or something along those lines.

Over half the games his freshman season.

Also, Pullen's 28 minute, 20 point, and 4 assist night when we beat KU was followed by 8 minutes, 3 points, and 0 assists against Missouri.

this is why it is jake for me.

Bishop was at least as big of a badass, but Jake had so much joy.  Also the end of his career was a disappointing loss, but capped by his taking over the all-time scoring spot and Bish's end was so painful.  These are not fair things and Bishop is equally deserving, it is just my feelings of living through both.

Every single hotel patron in America picked that son of a bitch up and saw Micheal bishop on the cover

Sure it wasn't Rolling Stone?

Rowdyboyy, I hate to do it, but your dick is out. One of the inductees this past weekend told me how nice Gramatica was and gushed over his kids.

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

the difference is that gramatica is fake nice and bishop is actually nice. now is this a subtle difference that only I and a few other people care about? maybe, but it's my list and gramatica's fake ass nice to your face stuff but actually a bad person does not float with me. sorry gramatica lovers, you were duped.

Listen, I'm very happy for what Jake has accomplished, but IMO if you're not successful in the NBA, its hard for me to consider you as a great pro basketball player. And as a QB, Bishop was a backup in the NFL before going on to a good career in the CFL and indoor leagues. That's all very good, but for me to consider a career as a pro QB great, it would have to take place as a starter on an NFL team

True.

If you go by the NFL, the greatest K-State QBs are...
1. Grogan
2. Dickey
3. Freeman

i don't know why this is controversial. we're talking about ksu careers and pullen/bishop were the best. my post said its a bummer neither had great pro careers. i guess i define great too narrowly

since the only two rational possible answers are bishop and pullen, I'd say that nealy is getting appropriate play

Depending on how far we're expanding the board, Griffin's in the conversation.

This.  I remember Nealy's interview in SI where he bragged that when he played for the (KC) Kings, he was the only NBA player whose dad drove him to practice and games
