Title: Are there 5 Wins?
Post by: Ptolemy on December 22, 2015, 11:23:41 PM
Assuming we beat a hapless St. Louis, oscar needs 5 wins to equal last year's record. If he does not win more than 15 games, his "trajectory," should not sustain being retained, using Currie's logic in firing Patterson.

So where are the 5?

West Virginia L, Huggs has a good squad
at Texas L, Shaka
at Oklahoma L, no justification
Texas Tech    L, Red Raiders are good, surprisingly
Iowa State   L, no justification
at Baylor L, at Baylor is why
OK State W, first league win.
at West Virginia L, lose to Huggs at home, we will lose on the road
Ole Miss L, they're good for an SEC team
at Kansas (can't bring myself to even type the L)
Oklahoma L, paper bags appear at Bramlage
Baylor W, Currie suspends paper bag wearers
at OK State L, on the road
at TCU W, first road win
Kansas (still can't)
Texas L, Shaka has them ballin'
at Iowa State L, pffffttt
TCU W, too little too late
at Texas Tech L, a prayer for a 5th win is denied on the road.

So, Currie is asked in the season ending presser about "trajectory" and he responds....?

We still have st. louis and ole miss. So you're saying we're only going to win 6 games in the big 12?  :frown:

Yes, there are five wins, and it won't take the whole season to get them.

I don't think people are paying attention to how rough ridin' awful Hurt is. And giving strokes to our defense for our efforts against non P5 teams without their best players is nonsense. Teams with any kind of post presence our going to eat our shorts.
The only honest assessment to be made from the past two games is our (oscar's) offense sucks once again. It would be alright if we could run, but that isn't going to happen against conference competition.

If anyone thinks we finish higher than 7th they aren't watching anyone else other than our cats. We have the worst post presence in the conference and it's not even close. Our guard play is better than last year but will be rolled around like sugar cookies come conf play. I laugh at HHD actually being on roster let alone play. Is there a less athletic person playing in the league? We will win a couple of games at home as we play out of our anus and the other team plays their worst game of the year but that's it. Five games? We are better than last year but this team is awful still. If wet wipes wins 5 he gets lifetime contract. Less he gets walked off the cliff like he should've last year.

Hurt is actually a pretty good rebounder. Much better than I ever thought he'd be.

We'll win most of our home conf. games. The question is whether we will win very many road games.

I'm not sure any of you realize how little it takes to be competitive in cbb.

I agree with your latter statement. This shouldn't be hard.

But "most" implies more than half of home games. Where do you see 6 wins in this?

West Virginia
Texas Tech
Iowa State
OK State
Ole Miss
Oklahoma
Baylor
Kansas
Texas
TCU

I imagine we'll win half of those comfortably and be in a good position to win the other half.

yeah and if we're being honest we haven't had a good offense since 2012-13. we are just so limited. our 2 best players don't shoot jumpers, we don't have any inside presence, and we have 1 player who can shoot off screens.

John Currie better spend some sleepless nights anguishing over what a dickless move it was to foster disagreement and enmity between himself and his very successful basketball coach so that guy would leave and he could hire this ridiculous looking, overpaid lizard.

I can almost assure you, he doesn't care. Until the western KS tucks begin to turn, it's a moot point

paper bags for the ou game.  i guess i assumed they were for the fans' heads.  maybe you were predicting the diaper container scandal.

Only predicting based on what I saw last season. If there were paper bags then, there would be more now.

I think if you divide the number of wins we had this year by our experience (youngest team in over 75 years) we sit pretty nice.  Helluva job by oscar if you are an objective observer of college basketball.

The next four years with oscar leading the 'cats are going to special.

This year's 5 wins is an improvement after only 3 last year. Plus the league was that much tougher.
