Need answer soon
-
I tipped two dudes who moved a piano for me. It looked heavy as eff! That was the only time I've ever done that.
-
Are they taking it up or down any stairs or just dropping off on main floor? Are they installing it too?
-
Main floor and installing.
-
slip him a $20
-
what is their relation to the person that sold you the appliance?
-
Offer them a beverage
-
Yeah you're probably looking at $20 tip plus offering a cold brew but you probably already knew to offer that. (the brew)
-
$20 is my standard tip for delivery, unless it was a difficult move and install.
-
$20 and a slap across the rough ridin' mouth
-
No. Tipping is an insult to delivery people. It's like you're telling them that you think you are better than them.
-
Answer the door in a nighty.

Answer the door in a nighty.
With no underwear on, and then, when they lay on their back to work on the plumbing, you can straddle them. They will get the idea.

:Woot:

you used to be a delivery man, or just cheap?
-
I didn't but also because they were terrible and just left everything in my living room without taking the boxes or checking for damage like they were supposed to. Had they been better I prob would have
-
well... what did you do Ricky d?
-
they get paid a wage to deliver appliances
-
Did not tip. After posting I remembered that I delivered appliances for a summer once and never got tipped. I don't really think you're supposed to unless they do something super extra as a favor.
-
great problem solving rick

you didn't remember right away that you had had the exact job in question for an entire summer before you posted?

I used to deliver furniture. It was barely above minimum wage. We used to get a $20 or so regularly. Then the furniture store started charging delivery fees. The tips stopped.
-
Where is a good spot to purchase a washer/dryer? I don't need anything fancy, just like wash normal clothes and dry them. Would like to stay under $1k for the pair.
Also should I tip the delivery person (people?) that eventually put this thing in the mansion?
-
We just bought ours off craigslist. Lots of good deals on there if you don't get murdered.
-
Craigslist doesn't deliver
-
Wait if Rick couldn't remember having that job how does he remember correctly if he received tips?
-
Craigslist doesn't deliver
Our guy is. We're paying a little extra for him to do so.
-
What if they washed dog turds in it or something? No thanks
-
I don't know anybody who's ever done that, but I guess that's a risk i'm willing to take.

Baby turds are much more likely.
-
what a fun trip down memory lane this was. also they didn't even install or anything so I felt good in not tipping.
-

Great point
-
Lib, buy something cheap on craigslist, give me $50 to deliver it for you, then profit!
-
I'll even make sure said baby turds are gone.

i paid $159 for what pottery barn called "delivery/processing" and assumed that the 3 dudes didn't get paid for dragging it up 3 floors and putting together the bed. it prob took them 25 minutes. i gave them each a cold bottled water and $40 to split between themselves.

For $159 they should have done a few loads of laundry for you.

i'm not sure why they would do my laundry. for $159 they delivered and set up a bed for me. big pieces of furniture cost money to ship, it's not free.

iirc like $100 or $150 for "white glove delivery" whatever TF that is
-
LOL I hardly read your post apparently. I missed the bed part.
If they were shipping from out of town, ok but if it is in the same town where you live that seems expensive.

Seems like you specifically paid for a full setup. You shouldn't have to pay extra if that is what they do.
-
"White Glove Delivery" generally means unboxing and put in right room from my experience. They try to make you think they will put together but they will not.

just went and checked, here is what it says:

.

Then you must have gotten better "white glove" than I did
