Sloppy contest against a fast team for a comfortable win. Amazing to go from a half of 1/3 of the possessions for turnovers to none. Westicles, Edwards, Wade, and Hurt continue to be strong. Shooting, especially from 3, continues to be a concern.
Excited for a Saturday road game.

Real question, not trying to be belligerent; has oscar recruited a capable 3 point shooter other than Marcus Foster in his four recruiting classes? I honestly just can't remember (Tre Harris doesn't count, any high major coach can recruit a mid major shooter without the physical skills necessary to play in a P5 conference). Cats actually look pretty decent if you overlook the fact that we don't shoot the ball very well. Very JYC-y. Just the oscar edition of that.

stokes' shot looks pretty good tbh... hurt and wade are good shooters for big men...

I think Stokes and Brown will be solid perimeter shooters moving forward. I love having bigs who can extend to the perimeter as well. It opens up the offense.

Tre Foster shot something like 45%. Stokes is currently at 37.5%, and Foster was around 39% as a freshman (but he dropped off as a soph.), so he's not that far off.
Claws is shooting 45% form three (9 of 20), FWIW.

If memory serves me right, Brown, Stokes and Wade all shot 40+ their last year in HS or prep. Sneed can shoot a bit but he is not a net ripper, but not handicapped like Erving or Westicles.

Is it possible to be JYC-y without being angry? Is a certain level of anger mandatory? Can a JYC do JYC things in a calm and relaxed manner?
If this is the return of JYC BB, it feels different than it did during December 2009.

JYC-ness is about effort. This group plays hard most of the time and I think the JYC numbers are a by product of that.
The anger part in 09 was mostly due to Frank. Granted, the players took part of that on, but the face of the anger was Frank.
We all know oscar doesn't have that, but I've heard that in his practices the assistants bring plenty of anger and are the tough ones on the players.

I agree and wish more P5 coaches did bring guys like Tre that have enough size to compete a on d and the glass a little. You would think the training facilities and staff alone would be enough to make any 6-4 or better drive way shooter an acceptable role player after a year or two on campus.
On Tre specifically, I thought his ball handling was P5 good for a role player anyways and am still a little surprised he didn't end up at a mid major when he left.

crap attitude + high major talent=mid major (Creighton)
crap attitude + mid major talent=playing for your uncle at a low major (SIUE)
