Finished it earlier in the week. Ends strong.

I don't really like the "main" characters and resistance, but the side characters and the world building are great. Really wish the show centered more around Smith in particular.

Yes.  I think it is going somewhere really great and while I dislike most of the characters, I think a lot of what I find annoying about them (their indecisiveness, and shifting allegiances) are a reflection of living in a totalitarian state.

YES! Enjoyed the season immensely.

I generally like the non resistance people as well, but I guess I like the ones that have a more defined role (Togomi, Smith, Kido, Wegener though RIP) than most of the main, main characters. Also the Marshall was a fantastically done just god awful POS. He was really the best part of the whole neutral zone episodes.

I'd agree with that. Really the resistance leader lady annoys me. I want to like Julianna more cause she starts off a more of a strong character but seems to get weaker as the season goes on and I don't like that but w/e their choice.

My favorite episode was the VA day celebration. Such a surreal Nazi 4th of July. I hope they spend more time in Berlin and with Hitler in the next season, as well as see what happens to Smith as he continues to have to cover up his son's illness which I could foresee becoming a potentially damaging break with him and the Nazis. I also hope Togomi stays around, lot of action goes through him and you can tell he's a genuinely good person who's trying to keep things from getting out of hand, but cannot seem to do that anyways.

You guys read the book?  It is really good.  Phillip K Dick is probably my favorite or second favorite sci-fi writer

Yup, which makes me wonder how they will "end" the series since the book is fairly open ended and the series seems to already be progressing beyond the scope of the book (artistic license is of course, open to interpretation and they can take whatever course they want).

Just started this a couple days ago, pretty entertaining so far. I'm not far enough in that I've seen how characters develop yet, or where the story is going, but the concept and production have been great.

I didn't know it was a book until I started the show so it may have to be next on my reading list.

Why read a book when you can just watch a TV show instead

I ordered a few Philip K Dick books after watching season 1, but I don't want to spoil the show now that I started watching it already.

While the premise of the show is great, the show is just "meh".  Probably doesn't deserve it's own thread.

I watched part of season 1 and couldn't get over what a couple of duds the lead characters were. Just terrible actors playing boring roles.

I really didn't care about Juliana or Joe.  The second season does a better job intertwining the other, more interesting characters.

I love the concept and the world, HATE the main characters and the acting of them.  There is good acting in the show tho.

If you like the Nazis/Japanese, you'll like S2.  Starts to explore them a lot more.  Really like casting Stephen Root.  I hope he gets a bigger role going forward.

S2 was great in stepping a little bit out of the book and into it's own world. Smith is awesome as usual. Lots of time spent in Berlin/on the Nazis, and developing more of the other characters like Chief Inspector Kido and Tagomi (who is still my favorite character). Hope in S3 they got to Tokyo/imperial Japan and spend some time there like they do in Nazi Germany. Kinda hope they off Joe, he's just always been a meh character but they'll keep him around somehow. Julianna will obviously be the focus going on. Glad Fred's character as well as Ed and Childan got some good air time.

The best show on Amazon is Red Oaks and it's not even close.

Enjoyed s2, but the lol bad acting at times is distracting. I HATE the idea of turning this into a time travel show, but they seem to be handling that as delicately as they can.

I wouldn't call it time travel as I would call it switching between two alternative time lines. It appears for example that people like Tagomi can cross between "normal" 1962 and "nazi/japan" 1962. Just as Tagomi's assistant is from the actual time line but now has forced himself into the alternative timeline. But agreed, I wish it would just stay in the alternative realm and not toy with the real 1962.

It's kind of time travel movieish when the tapes give them glimpses of a possible future which they then try to prevent

No keep going, John Smith is worth it

That's true, though it seems more like a "multiple paths, here are the potential options" sort of thing rather than the characters themselves moving through time. The last dialogue between Juliana and the Man in the High Castle I guess best summed it all up.

I'm not a huge fan but S2 was better than S1.
