I can't begin to tell you how many times I've been driving in my car and hit someone in a wheelchair because the stupid shazbot! was texting and not paying attention.

Maybe he was driving while BBSing (a huge NO-NO; BBS'rs who driving while posting are 23 times more likely to suck than non-distracted BBS'rs).

Yesterday, KDOT and AAA held a news conference at the State Capitol to encourage the Kansas Legislature to pass a bill banning texting and driving when they return to work today.
A standing-room-only crowd was on hand to view the artwork and hear remarks from Brian Bookwalter, a K-State graduate student, who has created strong visual messages about texting and driving. Brian’s artwork will be on display in the Capitol through the remainder of this legislative session. And for those of you who work at headquarters, Brian’s artwork is displayed in the Eisenhower lobby.
This event was particularly special because it also featured Erica Bell, the 16-year-old daughter of KDOT’s own Alison Bell, who works in the Bureau of Local Projects. Erica, who was in a traffic crash due to texting and driving, urged other teens to learn from her experience and not text.
In addition, Lt. Gov. Troy Findley, Sen. Tim Owens, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee; and Rep. Gary Hayzlett, chairman of the House Transportation Committee spoke about bipartisan support to pass a texting ban this Legislative session.
