Sounds like a tuck term.
-
I wonder how many people read that letter and firmly nodded their heads in agreement. Probably a depressingly high percentage. :blindfold:

I thought that was pretty funny, but a strong move. It's like "and if you have a problem with what I have to say, you know where to find me."
That said, the article completely lost me at this point:
The team didn't play poorly ...
-
I left cause it hurt too much.
That and we played like garbage, the coaches coached like garbage, and we had zero desire to win.
-
this dumb dumb thinks Snyder retired in 2004
-

-
:goodbyecruelworld:
my tickets are very close to the Bryant's.
I didn't go, but if I had, I would've left too.
-
Our $200 million worth of new football facilities should apologize.
-
Our $200 million worth of new football facilities should apologize.
obviously made our players and coaches soft
-
Who do you think you are?!
I am,

-
Post the article KK
-
If anyone should be apologizing it's the athletic department for only paying our head coach $3 million per year.
-
I thought family members stood by one another no matter what trials and triumphs we went through
Real life family, yes. Pretend sports team family, only triumphs.
-
I bet these people's real family can't stand them so that's why they are so obsessed with "fake sports family"
-
It's really the donors who should apologize for not giving enough money. This one's squarely on Carl and Mary.
-
If you follow the 16 goals (as I do) then you left at halftime or before. Goal #11 is Don't Accept Losing and anyone who stayed until the end would be in violation of that goal. Sorry Cindy and Richard that you only follow the 16 goals when it is convenient for you, some of us actually live by them.
-
I pay good damn money to watch a football competition. Our team did not compete, thus I left. if our team would have been competing, I would have stayed. Left mid 3rd qtr but it was obvious our team quit, so I quit watching. That article is not worth the paper it is printed on.
-
That is one of the dumbest things I've ever read. It is exactly because Snyder built this program into a winner that fans have high expectations. No one should blame anyone for leaving early when the team competes like they did last Saturday.
-
Especially since we have a bunch of hayseeds that, come watch us play, from hours away.
-
I will apologize for my misbehavior when I misbehave. Choosing how long to stay at an event, or to even attend one at all, is my decision. No one should expect me to give a certain amount of time to any activity unless it is a personal commitment. Ridiculous. Now had the fans stayed and thrown things on the field, an apology would be in order. Leaving a venue for whatever reason does not necessitate an apology. Just my two cents...and I am glad I wasn't able to make it to the game Saturday. Maybe I should apologize for turning the radio off in the middle of the first half.
-
This is the kind of attitude that breeds mediocrity. And this #family crap gets taken too far sometimes. Sure families support each other but they also fight a lot, too. When your brother does something shitty, you don't say "Well, we're family, I support you bro!" No, you say "hey dumb crap, quit doing stupid stuff, you're making this family look bad."
-
I think I made it to like 5 minutes left in the game before leaving.
-
i like the last line
-
My money shows I support the team.
I expect at least a mediocre performance when I go to games.
By the end of the first quarter; this game started to reek of old school 'Cats awfulness.
-
The second we start staying to the end of blowouts, cheering awfulness, and showing up for mediocrity or worse, is the second we become Iowa State.
-
I really want to comment on that article, but you have to have a subscription to do so and I want the Mercury to burn down for posting crap like that, so it's a lose-lose situation here.

:runaway: :runaway:
I'd rather just burn a couch or two, like our coal aggie brothers do (or used to do).

i apologize to no one, eat my taint bill cryder

Its just sad when people have a kids/middle school sports philosophy for big time college sports. I mean, the coaching staff at K-State is collectively making nearly $6 million. That's a crazy number and fans should have expectations that match the investment K-State has made in this football program. This loser mentality from some of our fans is simply amazing.

Are most of the comments on the Mercury page positive or negative regarding the article?

not from members of the #family

Someone post these, please!

i generally try to stay the whole game, but there was absolutely no reason for me to go back into the stadium for saturday's second half.
-
LHC Bill Snyder didn't even graduate from Kansas State
-
Why the hell would I stay and just get more frustrated resulting in a worse weekend and bringing the people around me down with my piss poor attitude which in turn results in a chain reaction of negativity that could spiral into lord knows what.
My problem with people leaving early is when it is the other side of the pillow (the cool side if you will) where the 'cats are kicking a lot of ass to zero. That is an awful pet peeve of mine.
I'll see you in Austin this week. Go Cats!

As usual Winters nails it. It would have upset me more to stay than if I left, and it also blows my mind people would leave a game where K-State is beating the team badly. Sure you don't have to be all bonkers but at least enjoy the win.

Unfortunately, we have a large segment of our fan base that are simple minded people that willingly accept mediocrity and view K-State athletics as a non for profit small town youth organization intended for kids to have fun so they can eat orange slices and receive participation medals instead of a performance, results driven big business that employs the highest paid public figures in the State and is the economic engine for a $75million annual athletic department which it is. This inferior, idiotic attitude has been a persistent cultural problem for our athletics teams for as long as I can remember and it's no wonder that we allowed the football program to languish for decades with this impotent attitude toward success.
-
I just like watching good football games instead of crappy ones. :dunno:
-
I left during the second quarter. I've other things I enjoy doing in my life. KSU football isn't my life, I love it a lot, for some people it's all they have to break their monotony. That is a failing of their own, not those that do no wish to sit through a massacre.
-
Why do they give their home address at the end. That's wierd.
-
Looks like someone needs to take a pic of the :katpakhead: at 2625 Butterfield Road.

IIRC you have to provide your address or they won't print your letter. Seems like a weird rule and I doubt the Merc verifies if the name and address even match up.

You know I rarely respond to your posts, and I don't plan to make it a habit. It seems just as judgmental of you to say they are failing because they put KSU football as a priority. That doesn't mean that's all they have to break the monotony. They may have very full lives, and I would assume that many do. You calling that a failure seems hypocritical just because their priorities are different from yours.
I agree that people may come and go as they choose. Just don't belittle them for their choices.

"They" took out a page in the newspaper.
-
It's weird that we have 3 pages of posters explaining why they left early. I don't think Cindy and Richard are reading your posts.

they got me. I'm hanging my head in shame.
-
I left ISU's game vs Baylor in the 1st quarter last year guys. No shame.
-
I was one of those bad fans. I'm not apologizing for it though. I left after 8 minutes to go back to the tailgate and watch the Royals.

You shouldn't have posted this without a joke about hemmy printing the thread and mailing it to 2625 Butterfield Road.
-
I left when it got to 28-0. I went home and watched the Royals and started slamming beers.
Had the Royals not been playing, I would have actually watched the halftime show and then left.
I will give it another try against Baylor.
-
I wonder if the letter sent to the paper was slanted and in purple?! :horrorsurprise:
-
Haven't been on the site for a few years... Thought I'd check in and see how the meltdown is going. I graduated from KSU in 2000 and live in Tulsa OK. This loss was a real gut punch for me.
Re the letter:
This letter was definitely Cindy's idea. Dick just went along because that's what husbands do. Cindy's cooter is dusty and she just wishes she could still fit into her cheerleader outfit from 1959.

If anything LHC Bill Snyder owes me another better apology

Message boards are weird.

How much do I need to apologize if I turn this crap off?
I may just watch Royals highlights the rest of the day. This is pathetic.
-
I'm really regretting staying up all night reading pro-Royals twitter and facebook updates. Now I have nothing.
-
I kept watching to see us begin a new non-shutout streak. No need for an apology from me yet.
