I still think we are going to go 8-4 this year, but I'm already looking ahead to 2016-2017. Here's who we have for next season:
QB - Hubener, Delton, Ertz, Banks & Thompson
RB - Silmon, Jones, Warmack, Barnes
FB - Gronk & Dimel
WR - Heath, Burton, Zuber, Reuter ???
TE - Small & Valentine
C - Risner
LT - Fitzner???
RT - ???
LG - ???
RG - Ash???
We will be stacked at RB and have some decent options at QB. Our O-Line is going to be decimated though. Risner will be a nice centerpiece and we have a couple talented true freshman but if we aren't targeting at least 2 JUCO lineman we're not going to be able to move the ball. Once again we will be short handed at receiver. We need a big possession receiver. I hope we are targeting a JUCO there.
Defense
DT - Geary!, Honeybear!, Hood, Siewart
DE - Willis! Wood ???
LB - Lee!, Davis, Sizelove, Walker, Sullivan and Moore
NB - Starks ???
Safety - Prewett, Newlan, Adams
CB - Shelley! Mack, Jackson, Moore
The defense should be solid all around with the LBs DEs being the strength (pass rush!?). The NB and Safety position should also be a huge plus. Starks has been decent and Prewett is coming along. Newlan looked fast last night! We really don't need any JUCOs but another solid tackle and CB would be nice. No one will be able to run up the middle on us with Geary and the Honeybear clogging up the holes. Hopefully the speed we finally have at LB and DE position will be able to contain the QB run game on scrambles.
I don't know how the Big 12 will look but our schedule is brutal next season. TCU will be down but UT is on the rise. Will be an interesting season, but I think how successful we are will ultimately come down to the O-line and who we have at QB. Thoughts?

Texas wins one game against an average OU team and suddenly they're on the rise? Interesting

I'm guessing he meant their baller recruiting class
-
Next year schedule leads to easy home games and hard road games . Makes it very hard to win the big 12. Top that with a young o-line could lead to trouble.
-
Thinking about winning the big 12 is really cute.

I think we win this year and next but Strong is a good coach and Texas is definitely getting better.

I don't think Strong is a "Great" coach is a league with a lot of really really good coaches. But I think in 3-4 years he might get his talent level to where it does not matter.

dude, this isn't an 8-4 team
-
Could be a 4-8 team

They beat a top 10 team with a true freshman quarterback
-
No we didnt

I'll take that bet right now but I'm more interested in next year's team.

Also lost 50-7 the week before.
-
only 6 home games next year

Texas this year could be like Baylor in 2012. They have the pieces to do well but it is a crapshoot as to when they actually put a good game together. I think Strong is a good enough coach that Texas will get better over the years as Heard continues to progress.

No we didnt
oh man

We also play TCU, Baylor, and OU on the road.

With a young O-Line and going to WVU isn't peachy place to play.

OU on the road doesn't seem to mean as much as it used to (probably because of all the 11am kicks  ).
One of my concerns for next year is at QB. Is Hubes our best guy, or will he get dethroned by one of the injury reserve? I kind of assume the latter since Delton has more talent and Ertz won the job before, but would it just be plug and play or would there be some learning curve involved?
In either case, we should actually be set up much better for 2017. I hope Snyder makes it till then. :fingerscrossed:
-
Also, I hope we are recruiting the eff out of CCs for WRs.

With Boykin gone and most of their O line, will TCU be very good next year?

I think our redshirt freshmen will be ready to step up. We should only chase absolute studs at JUCO level.

The stud freshman at aTm Kenny Hill who was kind of a eff up off the field transferred there.
