I mean, the GOP is still probably going to eff this up, right? But maybe, just maybe there's a chance the GOP will pick a conservative Speaker?
-
“It is total confusion — a banana republic,” said Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), a Boehner ally, as he recounted seeing a handful of House Republicans weeping Thursday over the downfall of McCarthy and the broader discord. “Any plan, anything you anticipate, who knows what’ll happen. People are crying, they don’t have any idea how this will unfold, at all.”
ZOMG not a conservative in charge of the GOP!! We might actually have to legislate the same way we campaign and get elected to office!!!! :runaway:  :jerk:
-
Like, there just was a conservative speaker and you guys threw him out. This is drawing parallels to Frank Martin
-
who's your horse, k-s-u-w-?

who's your horse, k-s-u-w-?
Trump, Cruz, or Palin, but I doubt it will happen.

The debt has increased about $4-5 trillion under Boehner's "leadership," so I wouldn't call him a conservative. I'd call him an "establishment just maintain the status quo at all costs Republican."
-
Never changing or moving forward, sounds like conservatism to me

I'd say the debt moved forward plenty. Like 4 or 5 trillion.
Seriously though. Seriously. Can you even image a Trump Speakership? He'd "look into" everything and "get along" with everyone!!
-
He'd be so good at the debt your head would spin.
-
Anybody besides Huelskamp.
-
what a bizarre thing for a purported 'pub to be hopeful about.
-
ProgLibs: Always letting everyone else know that they're doing it wrong while never having a solution to anything unless the government is involved . . . and still mad that the damn lower than minimum wage waitress living in the car down the street is taking so long with that craft beer, and the wifi in here sucks.
-
Bring back Newt Gingrich. Do it 'pubs!
-

Trump, Cruz, or Palin, but I doubt it will happen.
Sorry, I meant for speaker because that is the topic of this thread that you started

Aha, I thought you had to be a rep first. Guess not. Palin!

I support Dan Webster.

Why do we need a speaker?
-
I feel like I could do this.
-
I feel like I could do this.
I don't think anyone can really do it at this point. Our party is too fractured. Boehner was probably the best possible person for the job and he threw his hands up and walked away, the next in line for the gig did the same. The problem is the best candidates don't want to deal with the current party situation.
-
Seems like all you would have to do is tell everyone "no" for a couple yrs. :dunno:

I agree that Boehner was the best one there for the job.
I heard a pretty good couple podcasts last week about this sitch and the effect the Freedom Caucus is having on the party and the Speaker job. Seems like there is going to be zero good resolution. The Freedom Caucus sounds like they are either going to get all their way, or keep up what is happening now.
I would think that taking the job now would be the best thing for someone who didn't want a continued career in politics.

Yeah, the problem with the GOP is a lack of governance. If they would just all agree to keep spending more money and expanding government, everything would be so much easier. :jerk:
Under Boehner's "leadership," even simple ideas like breaking down appropriations bills into smaller, more manageable pieces was asking too much. Nah, let's wait until the last minute to pass one massive spending bill for the year - then cry and agonize about "defaulting on our debt" and "shutting down the government."
[whisper]It's almost as if this is what half the GOP wants to happen...[/whisper]

It's not half, its approx 40. Also, all that is fine if the GOP wants to do that, but their infighting is killing their agenda and the D's. It is basically 40 ppl from mostly non diverse districts holding everyone else hostage.
GOP just needs to get their crap together(however that may be), then come to work.

To absolutely nobody's surprise, libtard dave is a fan of the democrat Tim huelskamp.
-
-
is paul ryan unwilling to do it because the job is doomed or because he doesnt want to take a doomed job that might ruin his presidential bid in '20 or '24?

Whoever takes the job is going to have approval numbers right around where Boehner's were, so if you have any aspirations of being president one day, it's a bad idea. In fact, James Polk was the only House Speaker to later become president.
-
If the left was allowed to have Pelosi as speaker, I don't know why the right can't have Huelskamp. Seems unfair that the left can have a lunatic idealogue and the right has to pick a moderate.
-
Just not fair
-
@reptimhuelskamp for speaker!!!!
#bid
-
Personally, I blame the liberal media ( :curse: ) for this injustice
-
Seems strange how libs are always in goose step sync with their whack-a-doodle ideologues.
Cult like . . .
-
Looks like Paul Ryan will be the next speaker according to Mark Levin. I think this is good.
-
Paul Ryan sold out the base on immigration, which is the single most important issue. Otherwise, he's good but that's a pretty big flaw.
-
Lol
-
immigration, which is the single most important issue.
the immigration of fetuses (undocumented babies), you mean?
-
Paul Ryan seems like about the best option available. Very boehner'esque.
-
I also like how he made everyone shut up and get along or he wasn't taking the job. That is legitimately what the GOP needs or there won't be a GOP. I hope he continues that.
-
you're correct sd, that was a very boss move
-
Like that other guy, he just really took one for the team and sacrificed his political career.

His political career was already maxed out.
