when that La Tech guy let the kickoff bounce around near the front right pylon, then the guy picks it up, runs it out to the 13, and they decided to call it a touchback for some reason
-
Ref: "It was intentional grounding. JK, his knee was down. Which means we should probably add an extra four seconds to the clock instead of ticking it down."
-
Fox had to use the in-stadium game/play clock because they couldn't get their own clock right.
-
Officials extending the game, anything but a Qatz win is all because of the officiating.

Wut
-
What would have been 15 seconds off the clock with a rushed play call became a field goal with 5 seconds left. Figure it out genius.
-
That punt we fumbled that bounced backwards and was recovered after bouncing like -40 yards by Stanton Weber. And then Stanbot was asked in postgame which play he would consider to win the award for the Perspective-Changing Play of the Game Presented by Mosaic Essentials, and instead of the amazing touchdown passes or anything like that, he said Stanton wins.

Well, Stanton did save the game. Without that play, Hubener doesn't get the opportunity to overcome Dana's OT play calling.
-
Dana running up the middle constantly even though rushing Silmon on the edge is the only thing that worked.
-
Deante Burton catching a bunch of passes without somehow inexplicably falling down
-
Cody Cook not being able to catch passes that hit him between the numbers but being able to make spectacular one-handed catches downfield.
-
Ya, us constantly going to the Wildcat formation even though I don't know if it resulted in a positive yard gain the entire game.
-

Two amazing drops, two amazing catches. Really an odd game for old C-squared.

When the ball bounces into the end zone without first being touched it's automatically dead when it crosses the goal line. The idiot ref standing in front of it should have called it dead.
-

YES, I'm agreeing with you too much lately for my taste

Weird. I believe you, it just seems like the idiot ref (like you said) or the announcers would've mentioned that.

The white hat knew but he can't blow it dead because he's literally 70 yards away.

Was especially dumb bc La Tech loaded the box bc they knew we couldn't throw and then blitzed up the middle the whole day.
-

Running it on back to back plays quickly resulted in a TD, but yeah, that last one was particularly terrible. Even worse, we had a three back Wildcat set, which allows the defense to keep 9 on the box. Really dumb.
-
So did the refs make a mistake with the clock on that intentional grounding that was changed to a sac? First they stop the clock due to an errant penalty flag, then after fixing the call they added time, then instead if immediately starting the clock, they let LaTech get ready to snap immediately once the clock started. It's like they got a free timeout instead of losing 15-20 seconds.
Maybe we were just unlucky but it didn't seem right how they handled the clock.
-
Going to OT against a D2.
-
Remember when we were about to go up 13-0 and then Dana took Silmon out, his son fumbled, we lost all momentum and had to go into 3OTs to win the game? That sure was weird.

They got the clock right. Since the QB was down before the pass, they had to add the time the ball was in the air back on the clock. Then they can't start the clock until they set the ball. They screwed us by missing the call on the field. They did everything correctly on the review.
-
To me, Cantele drilling a 40+ yarder with game on line was very weird. I couldn't see the ball and had already turned away in defeat.
Props; I'm happy for that kid.
-
Yeah. Cantele being the best player on our team is very weird and super depressing.

I'm not sure if he's better than McCrane.
-
Sean running 25 yards down the field to call the TO in overtime.
-
How terrible those students are at getting up the Allstate net. Good Lord.
-
Skip Holtz trying to call timeouts and no one paying any attention to him
-
I think LaTech thought we were stealing signals or filming their signals from the new Vanier. They signal in their offense from the sidelines, and starting in the late 1st or early 2nd quarter they had two guys hold up this big blue sheet on poles while the coach signaled the plays.

yeah that was funny to watch their blue bed sheet pole combo.
-
It was ridiculous. I've never seen anything like it. Football coaches are the most paranoid people on the planet.
-
not being able to watch the game because you are at a wedding, and your phone is about 2 minutes faster than anyone elses for the gamecast, and everyone huddled around your phone because it is the most up to date.

-
Stanbot, Jr.'s play was huge. He kept the LaTech dude from getting it by pushing him in the back just as the right time, and then somehow snagged the ball while he was sliding down the field. I still can't figure out how he was able to both things (he couldn't have done it better if he had practiced it). Saved the game for the Qatz.
Have to note watching LaTech run blitz whenever Silmon was in the game, loading up for the sweep, and KSU running the sweep with the middle open (question, why fake the option when everyone knows the QB wont run because they know you don't want to risk Hubes? There were so many times he gave it to Silmon with two guys in his grill, and it was wide open for Hubes if he kept it.)
-
There was a new song that played between the OTs that I can't figure out what it was. Any ideas?

Thanks for the thought! Hopefully someone on here knows what it is...There might be a reward!

Have no fear fellow Cats, I have figured out what song it was that I liked. It's super old so I'm not sure how I missed this the first time around.

I either wanted to help them or beat the crap out those 2..........pull !!!
-
All the blitzing? :dunno:
Sure seemed like a lot more than normal.

FWIW, they were practicing using the pole/tarp combo before the game and were using from literally their first play on offense. Yes, they were paranoid, but it wasn't specifically directed at us. They're just apparently insanely paranoid in general.
-
I've seen teams using a super reflective tin foil looking thing to hide the coaches signals. Managers with towels up too
-

Well, they practice the fancy catches. Who wants to practice boring catches?
/sarcasmfont
-
So how dorky do you think team managers or whatever feel when they have to hold a towel up to block a small-timey team's coach from the other side 'stealing signals'? I bet they feel super dorktastic.
-
Sean running 25 yards down the field to call the TO in overtime.
So they could get the Wildcat out there. JFC.

If you're referring to the touchdown on the naked boot on that 4th down Elijah Lee had the responsibility of containing Driscoll, he just didn't do his job.

Prewett has backside contain on that play: https://youtu.be/zfYo9dKXaRA?t=15
He's taught to come off the edge and go the high shoulder of the deepest back. Instead he chased a play going away from him that he had no chance to make a play on.

I guess I don't see why you would leave it up to safety to keep contain? During the game it sure looked like the responsibility was up to Willis and Weakside LB. Willis was too slow and kept getting sucked in, they put in Wood and he kept contain and that is when the QB running stopped until Willis and Moore was put back in.

I think the responsibilities change when you go to your goal line package. They should, anyway.
-
Yes, it's goal line defense. The safeties move up and have contain, especially against double TEs. Lee was lined up inside the TE and has B or C gap responsibility. No way you give him contain against 3 backs with double TEs.
-
I see, I was thinking during the drives Wilis and Weakside LB weren't keeping contain until Wood came in. At goalline they brought the big boys back in and the only one out there was Moore and he was sucked in but I can see that no one else got out there either. So that makes sense on Prewitt.

Yep, meant Prewett, thanks for the correction and video.

Gap responsibilities would look something like this (hard to tell on some from sideline view).

omg fan is breaking down catz football plays again. it's officially fall. :excited: :excited:
-
one weird thing was the classy cat on the crutches that crutched back and forth all day. was she dancing with crutches? take a break, girl. sit this game out. also it was weird that she had to carry a huge backsack and none of her able bodied classy friends carried for her.
-
Even weirder that puni calls it a backsack :sdeek:
-
Yeah right, like you've never backsacked a girl (Ski + Be)(nny)

:runaway:
