Title: Are you guys proud to represent the Central Time Zone?
Post by: AppleJack on August 04, 2015, 09:17:57 AM
Some people have school, city, or state pride. I have CST pride.

Thoughts?

So true.

And for sports.  With the exception of the basketball Big Monday 8pm time slot, it's the best.  Our early football games are still 11am, which isn't bad.  The big Saturday night game gets done by 10:30 pm.

NFL is perfect.  Noon is the absolute best time for an NFL game.  Sunday night at 7:30 is great too.  Again, Monday night isn't that great, but you only need to watch if you have a close fantasy game that week.

i spent last week in CT (BDL is adorable, btw) and several times thought to myself; man...nothing starts until late in the evening out here.  Thanks for asking, AJ.

I would enjoy west coast sports watching.

West coast sports watching is horrendous. It's 2006, you're skinnybenny, and you're working in San Diego. You want to watch your wild wild kats go out there and be just like our mascot as they take on Louisville from BSFS. You want to get jacked and pak'd for the game but the kickoff is at 9 am pacific time. Do you have any idea how early you have to wake up to make it through the pregame playlist?

it's the only acceptable time zone on the entire planet

West coast blows. Some "live" stuff is shown live in east and central, then they show it at an actual later time in wc

Yeah all the accidental FCC infractions get censored in the WC showings.

Well at least you can DVR it early and then watch whenever you want.

Central Time TV viewing is not too early, not too late.  It's in the Goldilocks Zone of time zones.

Mountain is a cluster eff.  Some channels run at the same time as east coast airings and some run off west coast airings.  Its always sunny/justified/the league are on ridiculously late on FX.  AMC shows are on early.  Its absolute chaos.  10am cfb start times are stupid too.

I think NFL at 11am is a positive, but would rather it be CFB at 11am.

West Coast was pretty great. East coast leaves something to be desired. Central isn't bad. Where does Mountain fall?

Now you guys wanna experience something REALLY crazy? Try marrying a chick from Alaska. Hour behind Pacific Time and I can promise you you'll need a DVR because there's no way you're going to figure out what stuff from New York airs live and what stuff airs later. And then you have to subtract 1 hour sometimes, because at BEST you're getting a listing with Pacific time. Totally weird.

So yeah. Central.

West coast sports TV is great.  It's not like we have to get up early and go to the game or parking lot.

Non-sports coming on 3 hours after they aired "live" isn't a big deal.  Can always slingbox w/Gooch for things that have to be watched live like #TheBachelorette.

E! is the only tv station on my cable that I've noticed be all eff yo time zones and air everything when it comes on out east.  KK and I saw Caitlyn Jenner struggling at tennis at like 5pm a couple Sundays ago.

My favorite start times are 8 PM. No kids up, but over around 11. Perfecto.

Those are my favorite, but that's as much about my own schedule as it is the time zone.  Having those games completely out of the way before night even starts is perfect.

I lived in England for 4 years as kid Abe and got to rep some GMT. The original old school stud timezone.

Then I spent 2 years in Guam which of course is the infamous Chamorro Time Zone (EST +15 hrs). Talk about a mindfuck. They didn't even attempt to do TV. All tv shows were 2 weeks behind. 1 week if you were lucky. Sports was a mess. The Superbowl was on at 8am on a Monday. During the summer I did get to watch ESPN night baseball at 10am which was kinda cool.

CST is definitely my favorite. MST a solid 2nd (for night sports)
