Title: Dick Action, Insider Sleuth, Report
Post by: renocat on June 29, 2015, 09:15:44 PM
Other chat forums have sneaky inside bastard leaking red meat news about the team.  Surely we have an inside source.  I would like to know if Bullnuts has arrived, and has he grown.  Is Wade and xWhomper getting bulk.  Is Wes happy.   Is DJamer healthy.  Has Big Meat Hurt quit taking eating lessons from Twocoaches Lowery?   Is Chet whipping the guards into shape?  Dammit I want a Dick Action Sleuth Report.

To try and fill in the void of summer, here is some basketball news from the boys: 1. xWhomper came to basketball with a broken bone in his foot and has been in a boot since he arrived. 2. D.J. is still not allowed to scrimmage or any chance for contact. 3. Bolden is still in cast and doubtful for the year. He broke the navicular bone in wrist which doesn't get much blood supply for healing and causes loss of rotation in wrist. 4. Maurice has arrived and is 6'8" tall but with his hair is probably 6'11.! 5. Dante is a legit 7'. Stokes is really, really good. 8. Could tell you more about the players but don't want to break confidentiality. But the overall prognosis beside the injury report is very, very good!!!!!

The attitude makes no sense to me. List 6 negative things and one positive (Stokes being good) without even going so far as to enumerate what the hell he is good at and then say overall things are very very good? How could one draw that conclusion? The news about Dante being hurt with a foot injury is devastating. Big men and foot injuries are never ever ever ever ever a good thing. 3 of our 4 potential rim protectors are question marks for the season.

Bullnuts is Maurice.  Twocoaches is Lowery.  Hopper is Edwards - he is a hell of jumper, not much else.  Big Meat Hurt taking eating lessons from two coaches.  The Flush is Brown, hopefully for 3 point shooting.  XWhomper is Dante, other teams have xmen we have whomper.  I am curious if anybody has names for the others.

I had the chance opportunity over the weekend to speak to a player on the basketball team last year. For whatever reason, he spoke very candidly about his thoughts on Weber and last year. All I said to him to get him started was "Last year was kind of mess, huh?"

Not that any of this info is a total surprise. It was more of a surprise how candidly he spoke. It's what some of us expected, but here it goes. Drug use was rampant. He specifically mentioned Marcus, Nigel, Malek, Tre, and Jevon. He said he felt like the problem could have been dealt with in the beginning, but oscar just chose to ignore it. He said Coach Weber had all the information available to him. He can't plead ignorance.

In one particular situation he said that Coach Weber called him a liar to his face. When the truth came to light and could no longer be avoided, all of the assistants apologized to him, but oscar never did. He called oscar two-faced, that he talks about family and team chemistry and all that in public, but he called it a joke. He said last year was the worst basketball experience of his life.

He said and I quote. "Marcus was a horrible person and teammate, but Nigel was even worse." The story on Jevon's suspension. He was thrown off the team. He walked out of practice. I guess he said he had an injury. Weber asked if he had seen a trainer. Jevon said no. Weber basically said if you leave you're gone. He left. Later oscar said if you apologize to the team you can return. He did, but then privately told his teammates he was only apologizing to play out the year. He was transferring regardless.

On a more positive note. Thinks Claws is a great kid. Says Westicles will most likely be much more focused and improved with the detractors gone. Thinks Dante is great as well.

He also mentioned the team surgeon committing suicide days after Karaptyan's last foot surgery. I hadn't heard that. Anybody know the story there? He said he felt really bad for him as his career is over

Lastly, he said oscar will hopefully be gone after this season. He doesn't see how we can win with so many freshman. Perhaps the very worst thing he said was, and I quote. "There are so many things I can't say, but if I knew my basketball career was over and I no longer wanted to play, I could have Coach Weber fired tomorrow."

Now I suppose this player has an axe to grind, but still. I wasn't pressing him at all. He just went on and on. He did say he loved being in Manhattan and K-State was great. The basketball experience just totally sucked.

I thought about not posting this in deference to him, because I suppose anyone close to the program could connect the dots and figure out which player this is, but it wasn't like he was doing me a favor by telling me any of this. This was his choice. I was a little ambiguous as to some of the details as to not totally throw him under the bus. Anyway, just one player's opinion of the state of the program. Pretty much what a lot of us already suspected was the case. Just helped confirm it for me. I just wish AD John Currie would have pulled the trigger last year. I'm guessing it's just a matter of time out of necessity.

Just an update FYI. I guess Kade Kinnamon will not be playing basketball as a walk on next year. He went up to scrimmage this weekend and was told they had enough walkons. I guess some of the other walk ons were up there all summer and they went with the ones that stayed up there all summer.
I don't want to answer any questions about this one but decided to let you know FYI.

Evidently oscar had offered this kid a walk-on spot then when he showed up oscar told him nah, we're good.  :sdeek:

Trim, thanks.  This is why my anger is directed at Currie.  He is the only one who can do anything.  Weber will keep doing his drunk squirrel act as long as you let him.  We do have some good players coming in, but he is likely to screw them up.  IMO fire him and let Chester interm coach for a year.  Can Twocoaches as well.

I'm with you, Harv.  When I first read the alleged personal account, it sounded strangely like it could have been penned by KSJoey, or maybe even brookside or pharaohcat.  I'm not accusing anyone here, mind you, just stating that the tone sounded somewhat familiar, in line with certain opinions on here that blamed Weber.  The tone of the account would lead you to believe that the anonymous player really dislikes Weber.  From most of what I have read, everyone still here is on board and relieved that the drama appears to have been removed.  If someone disliked Weber that much, I can't see them staying to continue to play for him, regardless of their transfer situation.  I also think that opinion would gradually leach out and become noticed.  Unless a player comes forward and takes ownership of these statements, or makes public similar feelings, I'm going to call B.S. on this and disregard the claims.

a manhattan orthopedic surgeon committed suicide a couple of years ago.  he operated on a lot of sport injuries.  he operated on me (seemed like a nice guy, seemed to do a good job, gave me morphine).

his suicide had nothing to do with the basketball team, obviously.

I'm thinking Nino.
I'm also open to all speculation about what could get oscar fired immediately. Hitting players? Pay for play? Becoming overly friendly with white walk-ons?
Anyone with any ideas?

Withholding information that could get oscar fired is a jailable offense imo

Nino was the guy at the Big 12 tourney that protected oscar and threw the younger kids under the bus. No way it is Gip or Nino. The note about Dante is telling because it make the player sound like he has experience with him. Evan and Dante are both from the DFW area.

The reference to the suiclde might be a clue because DJamer would have had direct experience with the guy. Seems kind of a nonsecular, however. I mean shouldn't have tanked the season.

Quote
Ok, after talking to 3 parties directly involved I will try to sort through the story without getting into too much detail.
1. Kade and the coaching staff reached an agreement in the spring for Kade to walk on. He was super excited. I'm sure that Dean had a lot to do with this opportunity and Kade is the first one to acknowledge that.
2. Kade told the staff at that time that he was committed to coach his father's MAYB and summer league teams during the month of June. They seemed to be OK with that. (An interesting and maybe telltale sidelight to this scenario. Kade's father has worked the KU summer basketball camps for many, many years and that's why Kade was coaching in June.)
3. About the middle of June Kade quit getting text messages from the coaching staff telling him when scrimmages were.
4. In July when Kade went up to scrimmage with everybody he went ahead and scrimmaged but when it was over was told he was no longer part of the team because they had enough walkons. Incidentally Kade said he had a really good time scrimmaging and played well!
5. Kade happened to get replaced by a 2nd Hutch Juco transfer who was up there for the summer with his friend who had also agreed to walk on.
6. At least it was Coach Weber who told Kade about what was decided and not thrown off to an unlucky assistant.

This is whatever for this season.
But this is horrific if any half decent talent ever comes out of central Kansas again. The Kinnamons run B-Ball in central Kansas.
Also no way this makes Claws happy heading into the season.

DJamer.  You wouldn't walk up to a guy that busted his Ass last year and say "last year was a mess huh"

As a young boy growing up on the Kansas prairie, Hutchinson was always referred to as "south-central," so I would say that Salina is central Kansas.

I almost said Salina/McPherson, but McP's is so close to Hutch, I didn't feel right saying it.

Where does that put Lindsborg?

Who cares?

Doesn't sound very promising for the upcoming bball season. Really hard to fathom releasing a player with those connections by saying "we have enough walk-ons"...

As a Salina native, I would classify Concordia and up as north central KS. Just FWIW.

I consider Chapman, Abilene, Concordia, Marysville, Wamego, and Clay Center as North Central. But that's just the league that my high school was in, so bias.

Wes has a short video clip on his twitter page that shows the team playing pickup, and there is a good looking tall player that moves well.  I think it's Bullnuts, but I am not sure - any scoop would be appreciated.

Super Insider Slueth, Dick Action is reported the Wild Tigger Thingies played with more teamwork than last year's dysfunctional bunch.  Did any of you get a Dick report?
