Title: Is this the year Gameday makes its return to Manhattan?
Post by: cas4ksu on June 27, 2015, 11:41:52 AM
Alright guys, hear me out. Personally, I don't think we are going to be all that good this year. BUT WE COULD BE, I SUPPOSE!

With the way the schedule sets up this year, all of the marquee games are at home. This bodes well for Gameday chances.

I think we have a pretty good shot of being undefeated for the TCU game at home. If we were to beat TCU, then OU is in town the following week and OU I think will be undefeated for that game as well.

While College Gameday isn't nearly as good as it was in the past, it would still be a cool thing to have Chris and the Boys Rece and the Boys in town.

Probably not, no.  Also, gameday is going to be a shell of its former self this year.

If ESPN is counting eyeballs then we're equal to Texas in viewers.

Combine the number of good opponents with Bill not getting any younger and I think the possibility is high. Who knows how many more years Bill will coach, and ESPN seems to like him quite a bit. I think we've got a good shot.

Guys.

While it is only June 29th (a whole 2+ months before the season starts!!!). I'm on record.

ESPN's College Gameday will be on site in Manhattan, Kansas for a showdown between two unbeatens, Kansas State and TCU.

Mark it down.

So question, because I cannot remember, but what were our expectations going in to 2011?

I don't think anyone was expecting Gameday to come to Manhattan in 2011.

Right, and I think this team has the potential to fall along with what we did in 2011. Did Gameday go to one of our away games in 2011 or was that 2012? My time at K-State kind of blur together these days. I thought for some reason Gameday showed up at the OU game in Norman in 2011.

OU whipped us good in Manhattan in 2011.Don't recall GD being at any away game in 2011.I just remember all the close games and thinking this is more than I hoped for going into the year.I think you're right though,we're going to make fools of the media this year

We didn't have Gameday anytime during the 2011 or 2012 season.

We would have had Gameday in Manhattan in 2011 for the Oklahoma game, but Oklahoma lost to Texas Tech the week before the game. Just as well that Gameday didn't come to that one.

Yeah we def didnt have GD in 2011.

I think manpow was asking if we had any away games with gameday.  Looks like last years @Baylor game was the first time K-State's been on either side of the line at GD since we hosted in 2003

You are correct.

I think my expectations are that of 2011. Which means I have no damn clue how we are going to do, but it'll be a fun roller coaster where the cardiac cats rear their ugly head again. I'm not sure my heart can take another season like that though... I'm too young to have a heart attack.

we didn't host in 2003, but KSU @ Texas was Gameday that year

Our games aren't played in a bubble. Many times it depends on who else is playing that day... Other Oct 10 games: OU/Texas, Nub/Wisc, FSU/Miami, GT/Clem. There will likely be at least one top 15 SEC matchup too.

As of now, the only legitimate threat to gameday not coming is OU/Tex, because RRR (but only if both of those teams decide to not suck ass). The rest of them need to be remotely decent.  good luck kid

I wish it would happen, but it is quite unlikely. The following (in no particular order) would be clearly ahead of us in the pecking order.

Georgia Tech at Clemson
Arkansas at Alabama
Florida at Missouri
LSU at South Carolina
Georgia at Tennessee
Miami (FL) at Florida State
Oklahoma vs. Texas*

If gameday does happen for the TCU game, I'd be willing to bet they will call it the "Purple Haze" rivalry or something similar

i think it is safe to say with that slate of games that same week, it won't get any national attention let alone game day folks.
