That link is to Goolsby's acceptance speech from last night for the award. It was a fantastic speech. He's a strong, strong kid, and I expect good things from him.

I mean, it's pretty weird that he/she won an award for preaching that people should be themselves...all while he spends millions on changing who he naturally is (physically speaking). There were many more cases - especially cases that were much more sports-related - that deserved to win that award last night.

the fact that millions of people think like this and it was Denzel Goolsby's most popular tweet kind of shows that Caitlin deserved to win. Like, the more you try to run it down, the more she deserves it.

That's where I don't think you get it tho. He/she feels like themselves now. I thought it was beautifully done last night and getting up there and speaking for that long about the issue, in front of a room of testosterone, took some rough ridin' courage.

It took some courage to accept an award that he didn't deserve. We're in agreement there.

If by best you mean worst, it's the people that don't agree that Caitlyn Jenner should have won the award.  If by best you mean best, it's the people that are outraged that other people are outraged about Caitlyn Jenner winning the award.  This is how the marketplace of ideas clears.  Society needs to point out and ridicule bigotry when/where it occurs.  Otherwise, younger people might assume that it is acceptable behavior.

Glad I could clear that up for you, mm

Denzel said that he believes that God made Caitlyn Jenner a man and that it's disrespectful to change what our Creator intended him to be.  so because his opinion is different from yours he is "wrong"?  Is there hate in what he said?

it's a common misconception that you can't have a wrong opinion, but in fact you can!

(although perhaps I should have said there is a clear good side and bad side here. And yes, Denzel is on the bad side because that is his opinion).

Well, he didn't say it that eloquently.

I think it's fine is someone disagrees that she shouldn't have won that award.  It's a subjective thing.  There are a lot of people saying the female basketball player with the brain tumor should have won it, and I think there's merit in that.  But I think it takes courage for someone to chronicle a journey that's obviously a difficult story to tell, and then go out on broadcast television to accept an award knowing the amount of hate that will come back their way.

There's a right way and a wrong way to go about establishing a dialogue.  Using the word "sick" and the phrase "God help us all" is probably not the way to start a meaningful conversation.

Didn't Jesus say that Christians should expect to be mocked and should celebrate it?  Seems like that is not often practiced.  It is much easier to claim the persecution, and then appeal to the same secular institutions that are apparently so fallen and broken for protection.

So you're not one to bash someone for holding an opinion that they have come to the conclusion is correct, that is the opposite of your own. Great!

And on chaos. Where did things go wrong? So much went right in forming our planet and us, nature working everything out without a hitch, but now as we continue to progress, we keep arguing, or fighting or killing each other. It seems to me that there is very little chaos in the grand scope of our existence, just a touch, that we can't quite shake and it is the outlier.

you have the same probability of being right as the athiest that says there is no god. both are stabs in the dark.

I don't think either are stabbing. They base their opinion on their own wisdom and I base mine on God's.

Your opinion is that God is real.

Oh, society, we are so great and knowledgeable about all things and we have set rights and wrongs and it all works to perfect harmony.

If only we could determine, together, as society, why we disagree about everything.

Conflict isn't necessarily bad.  I think the world is really chaotic, but free discourse, republicanism and democracy is better than the practiced alternatives.

Are you completely ignorant of the animal kingdom?

I wish Christians would evolve (I'm Christian), but holy crap, these guys don't get it. Simple minded.

The biggest step for 99% of religions would be to admit they operate on exactly the same premises as the other 99%

Yup. If god exists, he evolves. I never understood my dads stance on this.

Animals are not enlightened, we are, through months of willful evolution, so they say. And as a result seemingly capable of avoiding conflict, through societal achievement. Ya know, pony boy.

Denzel is absolutely a conformist hiding behind teachings of a church to hate on someone different from him that he doesn't understand. It was a very popular stance.

Not for someone who is ~18 and involved in social media.

He went to a Christian school!

Your beliefs are vastly similar to most religions, with different names.

Not at all, actually. Christianity is the only religion whose God is both infinite and personal. Check it out!

One God,  hates other religions, must force religion on non religious,  some followers get super violent, meaningless restrictions on followers, believes ludicrous exaggerations from millenia ago yet written, rewritten, and translated multiple times by ppl with incentive to make certain interpretation, believes women are lesser beings, don't allow questions, push hard for money for the pleasure of being a member, etc.

I mean, put all religions in a bag, shake it up, pull one out, and they most likely fit that.

That's the same as saying "you are right but I really want to keep feeling unique"
