Some sliced dills on a burger is pretty tasty. The occasional dill spear is ok. But nothing beats...

This guy I work with also has a farm and catering business...and they make mustard pickled hard boiled eggs. They taste like deviled eggs.  :lick: :lick: :lick:

Surprised it took this long for this thread to happen. Glad it did.

I agree that the sweet/b&b pickles are the absolute worst. I found a recipe for some homemade sriracha pickles a couple years ago and haven't looked back.

when i was little (5?), i ate my first dill pickle and made a really funny face. my family cracked up and would feed me pickles over the next couple of years expecting the same face. i was happy to oblige even though by then i kind of liked the taste, i also didn't want to leave the crowd wanting.

Yeah I know, Kroger, suck it.  Baller on a budget or something like that.  I was usually eating 2 or more spears in any given pickle session so the halves made more sense from an efficiency standpoint

did you run the numbers though? spears are packed more densely. I'm worried that with halves and wholes you are paying for more juice and less pickle.

i havent run the numbers but its just a feeling.

You should try the halves sometime.  IMO they halve a better feel than the spear.  Whole pickles are weird and really need to be cut at least once to fully enjoy.

Agreed.  I have only had fried spears once and it was weird.

it was a so long saloon fried pickle that damaged me the most painfully. I bit into the blazing spear and when my teeth penetrated the fried crust the boiling juice shot into my mouth. As recoiled in pain, trying to escape from the fried pickle spear, the burning hot pickle slid from its fried sheath and flopped onto my chin (burning it also)

They tasted much better at 10pm than they did at 8am.

Fried pickles are good when they are in the form of pickle slices, but not when it is a spear.

Fried pickle texture has everything to do with batter and frying technique than slice style. Ive had both good and bad of each

I like to drink pickle juice occasionally. Did you know that pickle juice relieves heartburn?

This guy I work with also has a farm and catering business...and they make mustard pickled hard boiled eggs. They taste like deviled eggs.  :lick: :lick: :lick:
I add a few dashes of pickle juice to the yolks when I make deviled eggs. It's pretty great #sonntagsecrets

Wrong. So Long Saloon has the best fried pickles (probably because of the cream cheese spread on the side) and they are spears.

Also, pickled asparagus is a great change-up.
