Title: Why exactly are we so pissed about this?
Post by: chum1 on April 19, 2015, 09:27:09 AM
I'm not convinced I should care at all. In fact, I've found this stuff to be pretty amusing and stimulating. As with pretty much everything else oscar related, I just never know what's going to happen next, but it's often entertaining.

The want to be good, probably.

And the departure of the players leaving is the difference between being good and not good? I'm not convinced of that either.

I am upset at the way that the Athletic Departments represents itself, and by association, me.

For every aspect that upsets you, you have to appreciate that it leads to things like this to enjoy:

If people are posting about this for the same reasons they post about government and politics in the pit, it means that, deep down, they are loving the crap out of being pissed off.

Same question again. Why?

Because winning and running a respected program leaves you unconcerned, indifferent and unworried.

Like with being good vs. not being good, I'm not convinced that these departures are the difference between winning/having a respected program vs. not winning/having a respected program.

I don't think everyone's talking about the same "this."
Title: Re: Why exactly are we so pissed about this?

Why even talk about any "this"?

Some things are so self-evident that there's just no explanation required. I'll see you all in church.

We're pissed because we enjoy rooting for a winner, and it doesn't hurt if the face of the program is likable. oscar Weber is the most unlikable dickface on planet earth, and he lost a crap ton this year. Sports is a "What have you done for me lately?" industry. On top of that, the administration has further shown their commitment to disparaging student athletes, who have almost no options to protect their reputation in the arena of public perception. Then the AD sends out a letter that purposefully obfuscates the cause of this situation, and then tells us that we really shouldn't even be upset because this is actually fairly common in college basketball, which is a complete fabrication. To sum things up, being associated with successful groups gives people a feeling of safety and satisfaction. The basketball program and athletic department in general are not a successful organization right now. Our moral sensibilities are offended when those that can't defend themselves are exploited for the self preservation of the "elite". We don't enjoy being lied to. Nothing deteriorates a relationship quicker than deception. Humans wouldn't have made it to the top of the food chain if a healthy distaste for being mislead was not hardwired into our DNA.

1.  No one is man enough to talk to the press, Marshall, Bill and even Frank talked to fnas - we are not children.  2.  We hear the past season was dissappointing, but we want to hear it was not acceptable.  3.  Aministrators and coaches are not accepting any of the blame - the Kansas way is I screwed up and will try my dangist to do better.  4.  Coaches are not Party Dads,  why in the hell did this crap fester?  Get rid of trouble makers.  5.  Besides Wade and Barry we do not know what to expect.  We need meat about incoming players so we have some hope to chew on.  The best reason to buy tickets is to have a chance to get seats when thing turn around.

Yeah, John may burn this mother down before being let go, but oscar Weber has all but sealed his fate. If his next hire doesn't have the program trending upward fairly quickly, then John will be viewed as an AD that ran off a successful coach so that he could hire an unqualified clown who ended up destroying a basketball program which was on fairly stable footing. Bill won't let Currie hire a football coach, so basketball is the only way for him to make a mark here at K-State. Right now that mark is a giant crap stain.

This is good, but you need to adjust the graphic so that the "C_rrie" is a bit higher, because at that level it will get tucked into pants.....and I have a feeling that these will be more popular with that crowd than you expect.  :fatty:

KSUdeuce knows what he's talking about.  Know how I know; he uses big and complex words to show us all his huge vocabulary.  But this still obfuscates me to no end!
