Title: Don't kill the messenger...Foster
Post by: ksupamplemousse on March 27, 2015, 11:26:41 AM
Take it for what it is worth but I was told this through someone connected to the basketball team.  Marcus Foster and Tre Harris told multiple teammates to throw the Big 12 tourney game because they wanted to go on spring break instead of the NIT.  Even told several players to come with them because they booked a place to stay several weeks before.  Coaches caught wind of it and after multiple issues(attitude, lack of effort, partying, etc..) throughout the season this was the icing on the cake and got rid of them immediately.

I know what you are thinking....it sounds absolutely insane and unbelievable (because I thought the same thing) but if it is true this how destructive Foster had become within the team.  He also had ZERO points for the second time ever.....second time being the game at @Oklahoma St which he was benched.

I think Fitz might know this as well and it is why in another thread when he asked how much of this was on Foster compared to Weber and he said 95-5 Foster.  It makes even more sense when you look at some of Fitz quotes... "I think K-State fans need to realize that a lot of things are oscar Weber's fault, but I truly believe Marcus Foster isn't one of them. This isn't the same young man K-State recruited and who played as a freshman." and "Honestly, this isn't about oscar or really basketball."

This may be what "lit" the fire under oscar to kick them off the team.

I for one appreciate the passing on of info....let's not beat up the messenger because the "literal" interpretation seems unseemly. This is why so few are reluctant to pass on info.

I'm not really buying that story, but I thought it was a little strange Marcus and Tre were in Padre less than a week after the season ended. Most people book those trips months in advance.

Was Nigel invited?

I wonder if they put the deposit down after the game in Ft. Worth or waited until they got back from Waco?

They must have "thrown" about 15 games this year then

I think there are probably elements of truth to lots of this stuff. Throwing the game seems really extreme though.

Obviously the guys have never enjoyed a townie spring break or they would've known to just hang out in good ol' MHK

Damn straight

I think there are probably elements of truth to lots of this stuff. Throwing the game seems really extreme though.

Which makes things even more terrifying. If any of the stuff that's been thrown around has even a slight flavor of truth to it, then how bad is oscar at managing a basketball team?

It is one of the strangest things that our AD and coaching staff are bound by FERPA to not talk about student athletes and use this as justification for not responding to basic questions about issues surrounding the program.  Yet in the official release Marcus Foster and Tre Harris were specifically called out for not meeting the standards of Kansas State.  In addition, all of these rumors that paint the student-athletes in the worst possible light abound.  Meanwhile, Foster, Tre, Jevon and Nigel have said nothing about K-State other than re-tweeting supporters and thanking the University.

Also for the record I once took a spring break trip like this on about 10 hours notice and I didn't have the luxury fall back of actually living in Texas.

 <--- me imagining that oscar is at least a nice enough guy to let them enjoy their week of vacation before kicking them off the team after throwing games.

Also,

  <--- at the thought of any college kid who has aspirations of playing professional ball and still throwing a tournament game for spring break.

There's another Pullen / Foster similarity -- both refused to play in the NIT

Yeah this rumor is bs.  Beating TCU would not have put them in the NIT.  KU would have crushed them the next game anyway.
