However in Hong Kong there is a new way to do things. China Mobile Hong Kong has just announced a data exchange platform for its 4G customers. The platform, dubbed 2cm, allows its 4G Pro Service Plan customers to sell their unused capacity to other 4G Pro Service Plan customers. Those with excess bandwidth can sell in 1GB increments their data and can set a free within a set range of HK$15 (around R12) and HK$60 (around R77).  China Mobile Hong Kong will also take a fee of of HK$15 for each gigabyte of data sold

They apparently don't care if they lose poors.  They know :kstategrad: like you won't leave because of the great coverage.

This month, AT&T launched a feature that is similar to T-Mobile’s “Data Stash” feature called Mobile Share Value, which allows users to carry over unused data to the next month. Verizon Wireless, the largest wireless carrier by subscribers in the U.S., asserts that they do not need to launch a data rollover plan because the company is a leader, not a follower.

“We did not go to places where we did not financially want to go to save a customer,” said Verizon chief financial officer Fran Shammo in an interview with CNET. “And there’s going to be certain customers who leave us for price, and we are just not going to compete with that because it doesn’t make financial sense for us to do that.”[\quote]
