I admittedly have paid very little attention to anything more than basic stats this year, but do you (or _FAN) see this as being symptomatic of a general slowdown in pace in cbb (and resulting bad offense) or is this just unique to oscar sucking ass?

it's tempo-free and I attribute it to having terrible guard play, specifically at point guard, and having the best offensive player sit for long stretches during many games, while not playing at all in a few others. Also, oscar's inability to adapt his offense to his talent. <--- I could be wrong there.

But you didn't ask me.

offensive efficiency is down a bit from last year but it's not much different from years prior.

I think the fact that we have a single three point shooter is our biggest problem. (well, two counting Tre who should have been playing more all year).

5th in conference 3pt% 35.1% ---------> 9th in 3pt point distribution 19.8%
9th in conference 2pt% 42.6% ---------> 2nd in 2pt point distribution 54.6%

I guess it makes sense, we never get anything inside out from post ups. Jevon is the only player onto roster that can penetrate.

Unfortunately he can't finish at the rim to save his life, and this team is awful at putbacks.

so what happened to oscar's actual offense? we're really not running the motion much anymore and few offensive sets.  last night consisted of a lot of on-ball picks and other assorted dumbassery.

Our personnel sucks ass at ball screens. You going to have games when you are taken out of your offense. Then we just turn into a giant fart. Another part of this team that is maddening is when we take people out of there sets defensively (when we try) just to get gutted by ball screens.

Yeah, this is strange. IMO the motion offense with Rodney was fun to watch in year 1. I suppose part of it is not having good guards, but we don't even look like we try to run motion this year.

Pullen would get multiple screens to get open and get a decent look -- Foster seems lucky to get a single poorly set screen

He doesn't always seem to work that hard to get open either. McGruder ran around like crazy to get shots under the same coach.

McGruder also played on a team with other options on the perimeter: ART, Shane, Martavious, and Spradling would all be our second best shooter on this year's team (that plays).

yeah, mcgruds worked hard.  obvs, King DeBruce doesn't see the same effort out of marcus, but you don't just throw in the towel and hope a team tries to go over the pick all night

it's sadly very much like what frank ran but w/o the jyc o-rebs to make it successful
