the two biggest dork coaches in cbb, who would you pick if you had to take one?
they both have terrible speaking voices. and are dumb looking. and coach by constantly reminding their players to put their arms on up defense (most coaches do this to some extent).
i think i'd take King DeBruce over kim.
-
i mean. i hate King DeBruce but at least he's constantly entertaining. what other coach would do the limbo when a ref gets in his face? *true story- the answer is no other coach would.
-
Kim is a girl name. Advantage oscar.
-
oscar is much better.
Chip vs Kim would be a better competition.
-
I literally had to google kim anderson to see who he was. man, mizzou leaving the conference and me not being in the KC radio/tv market has completely wiped them off the map for me.

Kim Anderson annoys the eff out of me, even though I rarely hear him talk or watch Mizzou play. I can't imagine how much he would annoy me if he were our coach. I really don't remember finding oscar all that annoying when he was coaching at a different school. Also, Kim's "teaching moment" this weekend came off kind of racist-y to me. So, I guess oscar...gross.

“We are going to do the right thing(s) …,” Anderson said. “I want to win basketball games, but I said this when I was hired and I say it today: I am a teacher, so I want to help these kids grow up.
“And if this is the way I can help them, whether we win or lose, that’s the way I’m going to do it.”
“Can I teach these guys that? I don’t know, but I’m damn sure going to try … ” he said. “As long as I’m sitting in this spot, we’re going to do it the right way. We’re going to try to do it the right way; obviously, we haven’t done it the right way.”
During the preseason, for instance, Anderson introduced Isabell to me, urging Isabell to look me in the eye and greet me as he shook my hand. Even after another maddening loss Saturday, Anderson saw a “teachable moment” for sophomore guard Wes Clark and freshman forward Jakeenan Gant.
As he told them they were coming to the interview room with him, Anderson insisted when they got there that they “enunciate your words correctly, and you are going to sit up.”

“You guys (in the media) are out there and I’m up here, but I would give them both at least an A-minus: What do you think?” asked Anderson, who was met with nods of agreement. “So, we taught ’em something. That’s good. That’s common courtesy.”
What a gigantic piece of crap fuckface.

jesus christ :sdeek:
-
Kim probably should have stayed D2. This looks like it could end very badly for Kim and Mizzou.

yep, he is very annoying. and mu has lost 9 in a row. the mu tucks tell me he needs to get his players in the program and that things will change.
i don't think things will change.
perfect way for alden to leave MU though. he hires anderson, satieties the tucks, and retires. new AD has no worries letting kim go and can hire who he wants in a year or two.

steven st john talked about this for 2 hours this morning on the border patrol. i sat and listened and was thankful for King DeBruce, even if it was just for a fleeting moment.

If you think we're upset about oscar, Mizzou fans have just completely abandoned ship on basketball and gone all in on football. I mean the ones I know are completely ambivalent.
-
Yeah, he's going to fail spectacularly. I was going to ask how they are as bad as they are, but then I read that.

the 40+ yr old mu fans love anderson

I honestly don't even know the path they went down that lead them to Kim. Mizzou is not a bad job. I mean, it's not a great job, but how they made the leap to Kim Anderson is beyond me.

That may be part of the problem. Almost everyone I associate with that's a MU fan is under 35.

fell into the "we need someone who will never leave us" trap. And did Haith ever serve any probation while he was there? that wouldn't help.
-
Donny Tyndall thinks kim anderson is a goober

Yeah, it was a safe hire. Anderson and Haith bolted (even if Haith were going to get canned) and Fatt Painter bare-backed them and didn't even call the next day. They were hurting.

Illinois kind of did that when they hired oscar, didn't they? Weren't they paranoid about Purdue stealing him?

Illinois hired oscar because Lon and Self left for greener pastures. Guenther (Illinois' ad at the time/notorious pussy loser) could have went for it again and hired central Illinois native and coaching super stud Thad Matta, but he tucked his dick between his legs and gave oscar a call instead.
It was pretty common knowledge Keady was grooming/had targeted Fatt Painter as his successor. So I don't think there was any fear of Purdue poaching King Pope Debruce II.

Was Matta at Xavier or Butler at that time?
-
mr bread tells a good story. like, he's good at message board prose.
-
what's thad matta with oscar, I don't get it

Xavier. He went to Ohio State the next year. Illinois was at an all-time high and they were on probation. I have to think if Guenther would have been willing to pay he'd have agreed. But then if he succeeded Guenther would have really had to pony up or risk him running away too. Maybe he would have run away regardless. So probably good just to go with oscar and dry-hump the bubble every year. He mows his own lawn you know.

so I've heard
-
My one mizzou bud tells me Kim will have one more year and then the new AD will can him and hire his own guy. Seems about right.
-
don't we play in a preseason tourney at Sprint Center with Mizzou next year? What a potential battle that could be.

Hopefully we will have fired oscar, and Bob Chipman is leading the Wildcats into battle. Then it would be the perfect matchup.

I like stories.

missouriah needs to hire Currie tomorrow so he can fire Kim, we immediately hire Kevin Lockett who rounds up Weber's buyout in 5 phone calls taking a total of 13 minutes before hiring a stud coach using the 'real recognizes real' as a key criterion and the P in P&Lstands for PARTY next November 23rd and 24th.
-
oscar has a Big 12 trophy to polish, Kim has a 2011 Altima

Hurting indeed. Certainly further up the gradient than reach-around.
-
How many P5 coaches would be less desirable than oscar? For me, first stab is maybe around a third.
B12: Ford, Tubby, TCU guy

ford and TCU guy are definitely debatable. Ford can recruit and TCU guy just has a weird career but has been somewhat successful at previous stops.
-
I would probably like Ford better but I know I would hate being a fan of Barnes or Ford and watch Frank beat my team.
-
I'd take anyone in the b12 over King DeBruce
-
I'd take anyone in the b12 over King DeBruce
i would too, but this is assuming that travis ford would maintain his level of recruiting at k-state (don't think he could). okie state fans really hate him.

Bread is a good mind, no doubt, but there's a vein of pathological sexual violence in his posting that disturbs me. To each their own, though.
