at West Virginia
vs. Oklahoma
at TCU
at Baylor
vs. Kansas
vs. Iowa State
at Texas
Big 12 Tourney vs. TTU/TCU
i say one win out of that. don't know which one it will be.
-
Kenpom says one more in regulation and I tend to agree with that assessment. I would say vs OU or at TCU as the two that we have the best chance at turning into another win.
-
If Marcus comes back, maybe 2-3. But its going to be tough.
-
probably not :frown:
-
3 or 4. Everyone sucks.
-
I dont know.
-
I dont know.
:surprised:
-

We don't have a chance against OU.
-
We'll win a few more. A lot depends on what happens with Marcus, obviously.
-
Maybe two.
-
If Marcus comes back, maybe 2-3. But its going to be tough.
Why wouldn't he come back?
-
mid-season transfers when you are in conference play are rare
-
If we can't win at home against a shitty Texas squad that was reeling on a four-game losing streak and missing two of their best players, and if we can't help but get blown out by a shitty Texas Tech team, then no, we will not win another.
-
Why would an oklahoma/tech/tcu fan be confident about beating ksu? Not that we should be confident about winning against any of them but there's plenty of inconsistent and/or low/medium big 12 teams.
-
KU's entire team comes down with food poisoning on game day, Tre nails a half court buzzer beater ftw, oscar gets 10 year extension.
-
If Marcus comes back, maybe 2-3. But its going to be tough.
Why wouldn't he come back?
I expect him to be back, but with the way things have gone this season I have no idea anymore.
-
this team has at least one or two more unexpected wins in it yet :cantwait:
We're they're not going winless but we they are going to suck most of the time
-
I'm not entirely certain whether a win over KU or ISU would be very satisfying. might be kind of annoying, actually
-
Would going winless for the rest of the season possibly get oscar canned?
-
Possibly..... Ask the Shirt Tucks
-
i don't see any way oscar gets fired outside of a scandal of some sorts unless all of the big money told ADJC they are done donating and building stuff for him
-
2 assuming Marcus plays the last six.
-
i don't see any way oscar gets fired outside of a scandal of some sorts unless all of the big money told ADJC they are done donating and building stuff for him
This.
-
But what if he keeps slamming his players openly in the media? ADJC has to get upset at that right?
-
But what if he keeps slamming his players openly in the media? ADJC has to get upset at that right?
oscar could straight trash the entire team by name on a daily basis and JC still wouldn't fire him unless there was outside pressure from the majority of the money.
-
Can BSAC start a mutiny amongst the elite insider group to force oscar out?
-
Guys, this is happening, don't bother fighting it
KU's entire team comes down with food poisoning on game day, Tre nails a half court buzzer beater ftw, oscar gets 10 year extension.
-
The KSU Cats will win BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG in KC. Then, we will face 1 seed ku and lose by like a billion and their starters will sit out the last ten minutes of the game and oscar will talk about how jet lagged our legs were since we had to play on Wednesday and ku had a day off
-

crap. you're right.
-
No, and I've come to terms with it.

That happened in 2007-08 when oscar went 16-19. Won his first three and then got handled by Bo's 1st place squad. I don't remember what brucecuses were had specifically. Something about the players bought in too late and the run they made proved they should have been in the NCAAs.
-
2-6
-
2-6
Agreed.
-
A good idea for a Fatty Fund fundraiser would be to donate $ for every Weber loss. Like get people in the routine of firing up their PayPal and sending in some cash after every loss.
-
Rest of Season:
With Foster:
@WVU - Maybe
OU - Maybe
@TCU - Maybe
@Baylor - Loss
KU - Loss
ISU - Maybe
@Texas - Loss
I could be too generous with my guesses above. Even with Foster, I think this team is in DGAF mode.
Without Foster:
@WVU - Loss
OU - Loss
@TCU - Maybe
@Baylor - Loss
KU - Loss
ISU - Loss
@Texas - Loss
-
@ Baylor is also a maybe w/o foster.
-
@ Baylor is also a maybe w/o foster.
After seeing what Baylor did to WVU on Saturday I don't think we have a chance w/o Foster.
-
I think we have a W or two left, but I could be wrong
-

you'd break all FF giving records
-
pete, you're a very good "idea man"
-
I realize it is a long shot considering this or that. But. . .what if we finally get some production from other players? Wes finally shows what he is capable of, Nino's knee gets better, Tre proves why he was recruited, Bolden proves that being really tall and thin doesn't mean you are mediocre at KState. THESE THINGS COULD HAPPEN!
I say we get four more wins and then two in the Phillips 66 tournament. That will be good enough to get us to the New Rules Experiment Tournament (previously known as the NIT)
-
I think if Hopper was actually the baller he was supposed to be, we would have a chance.
-
I think if Hopper was actually the baller he was supposed to be, we would have a chance.
The season so far makes me very confused about Foster's comments that Edwards would be the best on the team. I'm sure he practices well, is it just stage fright?

Pretty sure he is < 50% on converting any dunk he attempts :flush:

Agreed. I don't think I've ever seen so many missed alley oop conversions that should be easy for a guy with a 40 inch vert. And that KU rim rejection was just :'bye cruel world:
-
I don't know what will happen, but I do know that this season is not over. Being in the best league in the country means that we still have plenty of opportunity to make a run that gets us in the NCAA. Even if we get pounded at WVU (which I anticipate), the rest of the schedule includes winnable games over teams with high RPI's.
It doesn't seem like this is a possibility, but it also didn't seem like it was possible for us to start 5-2 in the Big 12 after we lost three in a row in non-conference, including at home to Texas Southern. Hopefully Weber gets the guys to realize that there is still an opportunity to salvage this season.

grandpa, i told you to stop posting here.

steffy, dude
-
why do you do this to yourself steffy?
-
Steffy is right. if we finish 6-1 we'll be 18-13. win a couple games in the big 12 tourney and we'll be like 20-14. it's right there for the taking and you guys are just a bunch of negative nancies. get off his nuts.
-
guys, steffy is a girl.

No, he isn't.

It's not over until the cats are knocked out of the Big 12 tourney. Steffy gets this. His purple doesn't run.
-
Optimist gonna optimize.
-
Steffy, please post like this in the Royals thread this summer
-
guys, steffy is a girl.
No, he isn't.
can you confirm?
-
why do you do this to yourself steffy?
This is a very fair question. Last night, for the first time in a few weeks, I didn't even check the scores on the Big 12 games. I knew if I did, I would be reminded as to how frustrating this season has been, especially the last couple weeks.
It seems like a total mess right now. I can't help myself, though. I really like it when K-State wins. And, I do know that things are never as bad--or as good--as they seem. And, I also know that young kids (such as those on our team) tend to move on and forget frustrations and missed opportunities much better than we adults do.
If we continue to flame out, feel free to remind me how much easier it would have been to give up hope on this team way-back-when. It won't matter, though; I can't help it, and will continue to do the same in the future. (I was still hopeful we would make the football playoffs going into the last Saturday of the season.)

Steffy is not wrong.

She just whipped it out itt and all other cat fans were found wanting.

Good post. I view the Cats in a similar way.
-
We have as much likelihood of getting into the NCAAs as any other midmajor. Win your tourney and you're in.
-
Seems to me we'd be relying on guys named Wesley, Stephen, Thomas, and Tre to make the tourney. Recipe for failure.
-
i mean, i definitely still watch the games and am interested in cat hoops, but i can honestly say i don't watch the games with the same 'hope we win' interest as before. there is a considerable amount of apathy.

also, this developed basically in the last two weeks. i was pretty stoked at 5-1.

This.
I was infinitely more 'hope we win' during the Wooly era.
-
There have been many K-State basketball seasons where that question could be asked.
Who else do we play?

Steffy's viewpoint seems to have nothing to do with the actual talent on the court and what that talent is or isn't capable of. I don't think you view the Cats or any other sports team in the same way at all. It's easy to give up on the season because we are not good. We all like seeing K-State win but there is no shame in acknowledging the fact that there are seven teams in this conference clearly better than we are.
-
Good point, but by similar I mean we are both pretty optimistic, sometimes to a fault.
-
To answer the OP's question. I don't see any 'sure things' on that schedule, but I doubt we lose them all. I'll probably still watch most of them. Looking at this team's wide swings in performance, they'll probably beat KU just to keep me coming back for more and then trample on my heart with a series of 1 point last second losses. Or blowouts. Very hard to predict this team!

I am hopeful regardless, but I think there are some objective reasons to think this team is capable of being pretty good. Before Nino got hurt, we were playing damn well in conference. And, Vegas took note, as evidenced by the point spread against teams such as Baylor, OSU, West Virginia, and at Iowa State. That tells me that it is not crazy to think that this team is capable of being very good (assuming Foster and Harris come back, and assuming Nino continued to recover).
-
Will we win another game this season? Hmmm...

We are sad.
Team POSS PPP eFG% TO% OR% FTR
K-State 33 1.07 54.5% 24.4% 38.5% 63.6%
WVU 33 1.41 69.0% 15.3% 33.3% 27.6%

We're gonna win.

We're gonna win.
I think so too honestly. WVU is.....not good.

We're gonna win.
Lol

Lol
:dubious:
-
get ready for the stall offense!!!!!!!!! kansas st will score oh 3 points the last two minutes
-
the zone was a nice try
-
Can't blame this one on oscar. Just a case of youth being served. Nigel, you blew it. Nigel, it's all your fault.
-
Poor oscar
-
3 points the last 2 minutes i was right
-
Why did their fans hate Nigel so much? So weird.
-
Maybe Nigel should start a thread about it.
-
The turnovers by Nino and Edwards together with the inability to keep $2 buzz cut from grabbing the air ball board were infuriating. Almost as bad as Gip and Nino missing layups because they were trying to draw a foul.
The only good things tonight we're Bolden and Nigel. Hurt might be the worst defender in kstate history.
-
Why did their fans hate Nigel so much? So weird.
Yea, was super weird.
-

Add them to the list of fans obsessed with Nigel.

Beat it, rape baby.

we'll beat that team in the tourney (big 12)!

We have to get by KU or ISU first
-
Did they show a graphic that WVU is a projected 6 seed? I don't see how that is possible. They blow.
-
WVU fans' commitment to riding Nigel all night was admirable. I'm kind of hoping he sticks around longer, now. oscar is in a bit of a pickle for selecting a PG moving forward, but when Nigel is on it's hard not to prefer him.
-
very impressed w WVU fans tonight
-
Did they show a graphic that WVU is a projected 6 seed? I don't see how that is possible. They blow.
West Virginia did not perform well tonight, but I think a 6 or 7 seed seems entirely realistic. They're deep. They're style of play tends to impose itself on their opponent. They're in shape and play physical. In the world of college hoops this makes you one of the best 24 to 28 teams.
-
Nigel single handedly brought us back with 6 straight points. That's all I know from the gamecast.
#TheWesIsTheFuture
-
Nigel didn't single handedly lose us the game. Our team just sucks.

six of wvu's seven wins have come against tech, tcu and kstate. they're gonna get their ass handed to them from here through the end of the conference season.
-

I think its more being impressed with how that place was mic'ed up. When they showed the nosebleeds it was apparent that place was hardpressed to call 60% full. ESPNU had their mic picking up individual a-holes shouting things, i bet the crowd noise was much less than what was broadcast
But, yeah, the Nigel thing was weird.

great take per usual pcp

If we win in Fort Worth I think we have a decent chance. Niño is a nightmare for BU's zone. We own KU in Manhattan. Same ISU. No way UT sweeps us.

Yea guys, lighten up, it's more like a 0.01% chance.
I get the "let's be happy, we swept OU" sentiment, but let's not kid ourselves about making the NCAA Tournament. We still have the same flaws as before last nights W.
