I'm feeling sentimental. What is the worst game you have ever witnessed while cheering on the Cats?
Texas Southern this year and tonight are flying up my list.

No crap Sherlock...

Typical Brucesketball. Hopefully the big time donors won't give a cent until he is gone.
-
It's that damn game at OSU, Altman years, I think, and we scored like 12 in the first half.

yup at OSU in 91 iirc

tonight was actually typical Huggins/Martin ball
-
I've had to watch a high school team all year eff up again and again whenever the opponent throws on a press. Panic, total lack of brain power and the repeated tendency to pick up the dribble with no idea of what they are going to do with the ball and maddening habit of going to those places on the floor that makes the opponent's press most effective. In short, what we witnessed tonight.
The high school team has no gym rats and is a bunch of guys playing their second or third sport. I don't know what the Cats' problem is -- other than total lack of coaching.

Top countdown of awful games.
#10 Pasco Fiasco (more of an awful play to ruin a decent game)
#9 The time UMKC beat us by like 30 or something :dubious:
#8 Northern Colorado :Wha:
#7 LaSalle :Yuck:
#6 Wisconsin 2008 NCAA Tournament (0-13 from 3pt) :sdeek:
#5 @Nebraska in 2008 Lost 71-64 with Beasley :bang:
#4 Texas Southern :curse:
#3 Georgia :buh-bye:
#2 West Virginia 25 turnovers :flush:
#1 Practically every KU game (can't wait for this one )
-
Wait until we go to West Va. 35 turnovers is a real possibility.
-
The 50 point loss at umkc was the worst ever. Piped in crowd noise :horrorsurprise:
-
Frank's blowout losses at Nebraska were up there too.
FYI dipshit, west virginia is good
-
This isn't even in the Top 10 worst losses. Its a bad loss, but there have been much worse. I mean, WVU is actually a pretty good team.
-
57-42 home loss to Nebrasketball
-
and i got called old for liking mash
-
I agree that West Virginia isn't a bad team. I think that these types of games are the worst to watch and most frustrating.
It is watching your team suck the energy completely out of everything.
It is watching turnover after turnover. (For every contested turnover there were still ridiculous turnovers where we are just freaked out).
Inability to run offense.
We ran the clock out on ourselves at the end of the game. I was mad when the officials put time back on the shotclock because I knew we would take longer to shoot it.
I know that West Virginia has good pressure but it is not an excuse to play that awful.
P.S. I checked all time turnovers per game.
32 is our record set in 1969.
27 would have been good for a tie for 8th place.
Thankfully 25 doesn't quite make the list.

SETTING BASKETBALL BACK TEN YEARS
-
-
Butler was pretty upsetting, because I felt we were better at almost every position.

Well, that was a misconception on your part more than it was reality. I mean 2 players from that Butler team are earning NBA paychecks right now.
-
Iowa State on senior day in 2010 should be in the top 5.
-
LaSalle is probably the worst game I've witnessed in person. Especially the first half. But also the 2nd half because that is when we officially lost.
-
Games attended in person:
1. LaSalle (14k KSU fans in the Sprint Center against a 13 seed)
2. 2011 at home vs. Colorado
3. 2006 at home vs. Nebraska
4. 2006 at home vs. Oklahoma St
5. 2005 at home vs. Oklahoma (Drew Lavender)

Georgia #3? They're probably making the tournament dummy.

Iowa State @ home on Senior day, like 4 years ago.

Every game with oscar on the sideline at this point. There simply cannot be a more visually startling coach to watch coach a game than oscar Weber. Can Currie actually say he ever watched a game that Weber coached live?
-
it was up there in horribleness to obvserve but ranks low on awfulness of meaning
edit: wvu 2015

248 Northern Colorado L, 60-58
2014-2015:

-
The infamous UMKC loss and the New Mexico loss are the most egregious ones (we got killed in those game) IMHO.
-
we didn't lose to anybody worse than #51 in '12-13? wow
-
UMKC happened when me and many other cat fans were in Phoenix, so it was hard to really get upset about it
-
Last night was our most enjoyable loss of the year, except maybe Zona. I mean they really were playing hard even if what they were doing didn't always make sense. I've seen too many KSU Cat losses were they didn't play hard to even put this on my radar.

last night was 10x more fun for me than arizona. i don't really have a memory for specific sports games, but that one will stick with me :emawkid:
-
there was nothing fun about last night unless you're a sadist.
what's fun about being embarrassed the way we were? i mean, i guess if you hate oscar that much, then your agenda got moved forward a few steps. but other than that i can't find fun in watching our team fold like wet blankets under mediocre pressure. our coach had no response, including the very simple idea of calling a time out. we almost went into half with all 5 of them.
wvu did nothing special last night, their press had holes all over it. we just lost our minds and on those occasions when we did get into a half court set, the guys were running offense at hyperspeed.
-
everything you typed sounds very fun to watch

well, yeah, but all the other losses were even less fun

i took a nap at halftime and was asked to leave #fakepattys
-
Didn't EA Sports beat us on a last second shot under Wooly?

I was taking a nap at a friends house in mhk trying to get ready for a 2nd round. That game really pissed me off.
-
I guess I blacked out Wooly's losses to Western Carolina and Green Bay. Goodness gracious.
I do remember us losing a roadie to Eastern Illinois or something his last year, that was pretty awful.
-
Somebody in my crew fell down the super wide Bramlage stairs during the fpd Iowa state loss game. That was a highlight. What a shitshow though

At ISU was a very entertaining game.

If Saturday's going poorly, take your computer to Pound Town and play the youtube on half the screen and skype me in on the other.
-
There have been worse losses, but I'll throw in that OU game in Bramlage during the Wooly era when Drew Lavender threw in a circus shot at the buzzer to beat us.
-
2000 Oklahoma
2013 Texas So.
2004 UMKC
2011 @ OSU
So many 90s KU games where Roy scored about a hundred.
2010 Duke
2010 ISU Senior Day
2010 KU in KC
2009 @ NU
2006 @ Cal
Different kinds of "worst" mixed in here, and most are recent. I guess that's what being bad for a long time will do to you. I was crushed when the 1993 team lost to Tulane in the tournament.
This is from memory so some of the dates might be off.
-
The pasco loss to Colorado in the big 12 tourney is by far the worst loss of all time. :frown:

The pasco loss to Colorado in the big 12 tourney is by far the worst loss of all time. :frown:
It was a meaningless game with an unfortunately miserable ending. Pasco Fiasco is a great nickname though, and the game spawned one of the greatest Collegian Fourum entries ever
"What are you doing over Spring Break? Pervis Pasco told me that he's going to do a bit of traveling."
Quote isn't verbatim, but the original was pretty great at the time.
-
We beat TT in the Big 12 Tourney in 2007. We lost to KU by like 6 or 7 in the semis.
2010 vs Florida was a doozy. Didnt we shoot like 25% from the field?

Correct. I guess it was the earlier loss (@home), coupled with the KC win and everyone saying we'd need to beat KU to get in. I was sad. Very sad and felt KSU deserved to be in.
-
Worst loss and worst game are two totally different things.
-
i'm like 90 percent sure k-state has never lost a game that i attended. that's pretty cool!

Massofcatfan was not saying that! We beat TT, no way they go in over us.
Massofcatfan was wrong
-
nothing can possibly top UMKC. although their badass DJamer made the experience better.

you mean a oscar weber coached team performed badly in the first half of a game?

You're exaggerating, FSD. I think it was 41. Embarrassing part was that one of my neighbors was the AD at UMKC at the time, and I talked smack on Mrs. AD. She sure got the last laugh on that one. She also had a much better seat than I did.
-
2/4/15 @TT
-
Wed Feb 4 184 Texas Tech L, 47-64
-
Worst conference loss since at least 2003.
But somehow this makes oscar's position at KSU stronger!
-
@Cole_Manbeck 14m14 minutes ago
Tonight marks the 10th game this season where K-State failed to reach 60 points, which was last accomplished in Jim Wooldridge's 1st season
Adversity!
-
I just started the process of getting last night's classic on youtube. I thought I'd caught the part about 5 before the hour where they showed a team warmup shooting in the dark, but I missed it.
